A person after seeing this movie told me, that he didn't like it because it's just showing cooking, cleaning and other kitchen stuff repeatedly throughout and is very boring. I told him... If you're feeling bored just by seeing it repeatedly, just imagine how bored your wife or mother would feel doing this work repeatedly throughout their life. He couldn't reply to that. So i said... That is exactly what the film wants to tell you. One of the best movies in recent times...The true condition of a common Indian woman. It's a slap to the face of all people who think that a daughter, wife, or a daughter in law is just a person who is supposed to serve a Man's needs throughout their life. We'll literally feel like telling "Idhulum bedham oru hotel nadathiya naalu paisa engilum sambadhikkayirunnu".

കുടുംബത്തിലൊക്കെ വല്ലപ്പോഴും ഓരോ കല്യാണത്തിനൊക്കെ പോകുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ കല്യാണപെണ്ണിനെ ദയനീയമായിട്ട് നോക്കും.... രണ്ടുമൂന്നു ദിവസത്തെ ചടങ്ങുകൾ ആണല്ലോ ഇപ്പോൾ... മഞ്ഞ കല്യാണം... ചുവപ്പ് കല്യാണം... പിന്നെ റിസപ്ഷൻ... സേവ് the ഡേറ്റ്.... ആകെ നന്നായി ഒരുങ്ങി സുന്ദരിയായി കുറെ സ്വർണവും ഇട്ടു... ചിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ക്യാമറ ക്കു മുന്നിൽ പോസ് ചെയ്യുമ്പോൾ അവൾ ഓർകുന്നില്ലല്ലോ..... ഇതെല്ലാം ഒരു വേലക്കാരിയുടെ പോസ്റ്റിലേക്കുള്ള പോക്കാണെന്ന്.... 😐😐... വളരെ ചുരുക്കം ചിലർ മാത്രം രക്ഷപെടും... ബാക്കി എല്ലാരും ഡിപ്രെഷൻ അടിച്ചു ഒരു നല്ല വേലക്കാരിയുടെ റോളും ഹോം നേഴ്സ് ന്റെ ജോലിയും ഒകെ നന്നായിട്ടു ചെയ്യാൻ ശ്രെമിക്കും... പിന്നെ കുറച്ചു പേർ പലതും സഹിക്കാൻ പറ്റാതെ ഒരു കഷ്ണം കയറിലോ വല്ല കിണറിന്റെ ആഴങ്ങളിലോ വിഷകുപ്പിയിലോ നിത്യ നിദ്ര കണ്ടെത്തും...... സത്യം ആദ്യമൊക്കെ കല്യാണത്തിന് പോകുമ്പോൾ കല്യാണ പെണ്ണിനെ ഒക്കെ കാണുമ്പോൾ ഭയങ്കര സന്തോഷമായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ ഇപ്പോൾ കല്യാണ പെണ്ണിനെ കാണുമ്പോൾ ഒരു ദയനീയതയാണ് തോന്നുന്നത് ഇതൊക്കെ കുറച്ചുദിവസത്തേക്ക് മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ എന്ന് അറിയാതെ ആണല്ലോ ഇരിക്കുന്നത് എന്ന് ആലോചിക്കുമ്പോൾ. എന്റെ വീട്ടിൽ താഴത്തും തലയിലും വയ്ക്കാതെയാണ് എന്നെ വളർത്തിയത് കല്യാണം കഴിഞ്ഞു ഭർത്താവിന്റെ വീട്ടിലെത്തിയപ്പോൾ അവരുദ്ദേശിച്ച രീതിയിൽ ഉള്ള സ്വർണ്ണമില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് എവിടുന്നോ വലിഞ്ഞു കേറി വന്നവരോടുള്ള പോലെയാണ് പെരുമാറ്റം നല്ല രീതിയിൽ കല്യാണം കഴിഞ്ഞു വന്നിട്ട് വഴിയിൽ കിടക്കുന്ന പട്ടിയോടുള്ള വിലപോലും തരുന്നില്ല. നമുക്ക് മറ്റാരുമില്ലാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് ഇങ്ങോട്ട് വന്നതാ എന്നുള്ള രീതിയിലാണ് നമ്മളോടുള്ള പെരുമാറ്റം. പക്ഷേ എന്റെ ഭർത്താവിന്റെ സപ്പോർട്ട് ഉള്ളതുകൊണ്ട് നല്ല അന്തസ്സായിട്ട് ഫൈറ്റ് ചെയ്തു പിടിച്ചു നിൽക്കുന്നു അഞ്ചാറു കൊല്ലത്തോളം ഒന്നും മിണ്ടാതെ സഹിച്ചു ഇപ്പോൾ ഇങ്ങോട്ട് ഉള്ളത് അതേ രീതിയിൽ തന്നെ തിരിച്ചങ്ങോട്ടും പെരുമാറുന്നു. നമ്മൾ എന്തിനാണ് കണ്ടവന്റെ വായിലിരിക്കുന്നത് കേട്ടു മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്നത് ഇങ്ങോട്ട് എങ്ങനെയാണോ പെരുമാറുന്നത് അതുപോലെ തന്നെ തിരിച്ചും കൊടുക്കുക നമ്മളെന്താ ആരും ഇല്ലാത്തവരാണോ

My In laws used to spit inside wash basins where utensils were kept for washing. It was my 2nd day after marriage. I felt disgusting and didn't feel like having anything from there.

I have seen this in my family. My grandfather was like that. My father was like that. But, thankfully, my husband is the opposite. He not only do the house jobs, but also he encourages his male friends to do household works. After seeing this movie, my father has changed a lot for good.

എനിക്കും ഇത് അവസ്ഥ വരേണ്ടതായിരുന്നു തലനാരിഴയ്ക്കാണ് രക്ഷപ്പെട്ടത്. പിജി രണ്ടാംവർഷം പഠിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് ഒരു ആലോചന വന്നു അവർക്ക് ഒന്നും വേണ്ടാ ചെറുക്കൻ ഡ്രൈവറാണ് വെള്ളമടി ഇല്ല, യാതൊരുദുശീലവുമില്ല അത്യാവശ്യം നല്ല സാമ്പത്തിക ം അവർക്ക് ഉണ്ട്. യാതൊന്നും വേണ്ട രജിസ്റ്റർ ഓഫീസിൽ വെച്ചാണെങ്കിലും കല്യാണം നടത്തിയാൽ മതി എന്ന് പറഞ്ഞു ഞങ്ങൾ നല്ലപോലെ സാമ്പത്തികമായി പിന്നോക്കം ആയിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ എല്ലാം കാര്യത്തിലും തലയിലിടാൻ തുടങ്ങി , വാട്സാപ്പിൽ ഇരുന്നാൽ തന്നെ ആരോടാണ് ചാറ്റ് സ്ക്രീൻ ഷോട്ട് തരൂ എന്നൊക്കെ ചോദിക്കലായി, എൻറെ അപ്പൻ 10 വർഷം കൂടെ പഠിച്ച എൻറെ ബന്ധുകൂടിയാണ് പയ്യൻറെ ബർത്ത് ഡേയ്ക്ക് സ്റ്റാറ്റസ് ഇട്ടപ്പോൾ ലവ് ഇമേജ് ഇട്ടത് അയാൾക്ക് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടില്ല അയാൾ അതിനെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്തു മറ്റൊരുതരത്തിൽ കണ്ട് സംസാരിച്ചു എനിക്ക് അസഹനീയമായി ആ ബന്ധം തോന്നി അതുപോലെ തന്നെ മറ്റുള്ള ആണുങ്ങളോട് മിണ്ടാൻ പാടില്ല വിവാഹം കഴിഞ്ഞാലും പഠിക്കുന്നതിന് താല്പര്യമില്ല ജോലിക്ക് പോകേണ്ട . രാത്രി കാക്കയെ കഴിഞ്ഞ് വാട്സ്ആപ്പ് നോക്കരുത് സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയ നോക്കരുത് ആരെയും വിളിക്കരുത് അങ്ങനെ ഒരുപാട് നിബന്ധനകൾ അയാളുടെ വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്ന് കയറിയാൽ ഞാൻ എന്നെ തന്നെ മറന്നു പോകുമോ എന്നൊരു വ്യക്തിത്വമുള്ള പോലും ഞാൻ ഓർക്കുക ഇല്ല എന്ന അവസ്ഥ വരെയായി കാര്യങ്ങൾ അവസാനം ഞാൻ നൈസായിട്ട് ഒഴിഞ്ഞു. എൻ ജീവിതത്തിൽ കണ്ട ഏറ്റവും വലിയ തന്തയില്ലാത്ത ചെറ്റ അയാൾ തന്ന യാണ്

This movie should be included as a chapter in schools. children should be taught that handling household duties and being financially independent is very important in life and its basic life skills, Not a gender particular role. we have a great culture in our country, But in name of traditions old and obsolete methods should not be imposed on others. certain things were started in olden days due to certain reason and needn't be continued saying name of culture and tradition.

No background music has been used in this movie..but it uplifted the overall mood of the movie and made it more realistic

I am proud to say I taught my 3 year old son to bring his plate to the kitchen after dinner a year ago and he now helps me in bringing everything from dining table to kitchen after a meal, bless his innocent heart ❤️ I wish to teach my boy everything I would have taught a daughter if I had one in his place! This movie is truly remarkable and shows what all a typical housewife has to go through in a house that follows the old ways and yes such families still exist!

Really heart touching moive. It speaks so much in silence. It's a disease so well spread in human civilization that people don't see any wrong in it. Even the victim feels it's ok to be victimized. Even in my own house my mother scolds me if I occasionally forgets to take my dishes to kitchen..but never my brother even though he always leaves it behind. We don't want gender equality but simple manners, respect ,what every living deserves. If women in your house aren't pleasant, no devi you worship in temple will bless you.

Now days women are literate so they have a dreams and goals to achieve... women not only supposed to do household work..Men and women both can be spilt work in household.. Such a beautiful movie. I liked the way the bangles were shown. It is so symbolic. The more the housewife is burdened with housework, the lesser her bangles become on her hand. U can't work with bangles in the hand. All the actors were too good. She loves her husband & is ready to slog so much. But he breaks her heart ,when he tells her, she is not pretty for foreplay. Simply loved the sad expression in her eyes. Glad she rebels .she can't be treated like a servant.Even servants wil quit , if given more work. We women also like to stay away from kitchen work, sometimes. Loved the way, she makes tea from the waste water & the way , she throws the water at both the men . The chanting of the word SWAMI really made me laugh, because it was done in such a hilarious manner. The tune remained wit me throughout the day & made me laugh.

This movie is legit stuff of my nightmares as an unmarried Malayali woman in my 30s, even though I have been brought up outside Kerala. The toxic culture of pushing women to the kitchen no matter how educated or accomplished they are...is something I still witness happening to my bhabhis, friends and cousins. My parents did not ensure I receive the highest levels of education so that I end up washing plates every day in my husband's house for Pete's sake! I am not saying this happens in every household...it NEVER happens in mine...but I don't want to risk ending up with someone who would show his true colours after some time and reduce my accomplishments to nothing. Till such an exotic creature appears...imma live my awesome life with my awesome job, my awesome pay and my awesome friends, and continue taking care of MY awesome parents!

This movie is promoting Hindu phobia. As if these things don’t happen in other communities in India. As if ladies in Md. family have any freedom. They can’t even separate from their husbands on their own! While men can say talaq thrice and throw them out! What’s the point in showing Ayyappa puja in the movie? Do the movie makers have guts to show Ramadaan and housewife opposing it? You guys take every liberty to show Hindus in poor light. Disgusting!

What a movie! The inner strength of a woman cannot be measured. She made the right decision for herself. She is better without her husband who does not even have feelings for her.

Their daughter is enjoying in foreign without any issue. Nicely portrayed.

I can feel myself in her place, exactly the same feeling and same emotions, but now I'm happy as I followed my path and reached my goal as teacher. The movie made me remember my days and nights in the kitchen, the same dirty water from sintex dripping and makes me believe I have failed in choosing the correct partner. This masterpiece just shows, you don't need good looking pretty & dashing actors to make great movie. With excellent storyline, everything is perfect.

It's impressive how they directed the movie just as it is, no glamour/drama/romanticism.

The eye opener in this movie is that nothing in the husband's household changed even after the wife left. We see the beginning of season 2 with the same lifestyle/culture in the second last scene. The real message this movie gives, apart from the women to stand up for themselves, is for the society to change. Brilliantly executed!

Yes. Also that no one in the husband's house, for the sake of getting a negative image was harsh above a level to the woman, that might have made it a not so common household scenario. It is about the girl who doesn't wanna give up her self respect.

Financial freedom is essential for every women......my mother was teacher sister is engineer,wife is teacher..this is great message for every one ..respect women and their sacrifices for us..

It's not about financial freedom. Some women are used to being subservient to in-laws, husband, male members of the family. Many women in Kerala are more qualified or are earning more than their husbands. In fact some households are solely run my wife's earnings, husband's don't have a job. Still they come back home prepares the meal, does every household chores. And they actually are proud of it. For them it's a sin if she made her husband get a glass of water for themselves. She might be dying still she won't ask her husband to get a glass of water.

This film is extraordinary, it adds to my knowledge about Indian culture which still exists in modern times like this. Hopefully those who watch this film can take positive things. Greetings from Indonesia🇮🇩❤

One of the best movies in recent times...The true & common condition specially in the Asian women .Most wives have to do not only earning but also house hold work, raising both kids and husband . Love this movie. This is what we had been experiencing and some of us still. Maybe if men get to see this movie, they would realize what they have done. I hope with young and next generation, we all can enjoy our lives together with true love, affection and bonding. Pls women don't appreciate these customs and let it continue for future ladies too. Relevant, wonderful and crisp, but one thing is missing. It isn't only the men who propagate patriarchy. Elderly women are the ones responsible. Usually the loudest voice of dissent in a household where the daughters in law work/live or parent in their own way, is the mother-in-law's. I wish more people see that. Anyhow a thought provoking and brilliant movie

This is actually a story of some housewives in rural Indonesia as well. Although not really like this in our major religion, but the duty of a housewife hits too close to home. I'm just glad my husband allowed me to work & have a me-time, otherwise I might go crazy as well. Especially since I love working so much, now with 2 lovely kids & a loving husband, my life is complete. I hope every housewife in India can have a better life within marriage life, coz we deserve it

ഈ സിനിമ കണ്ട സാമാന്യം ബോധം ഉള്ള രക്ഷിതാക്കൾ മനസിലാക്കും തങ്ങളുടെ മകളെ എത്രയും പെട്ടെന്ന് വിവാഹം ചെയ്ത് അയക്കാൻ അല്ല.... മറിച് സ്വന്തം കാലിൽ നിൽക്കാൻ പ്രാപ്തയാകുകയാണ് വേണ്ടത് എന്ന്... 😌

Finally... Someone makes a movie about the most underestimated job in the world and the most underestimated space in our house (kitchen)... Only someone who cooks understands the level of hard work that goes into putting food on our plate... I can write essays on this topic.. I have so much to say yet very less words. Salute to all home makers and every one who is involved in making this movie.

What a movie it's actually tells the reality behind the realtionship called marriage.we lost everything our education,our achievements,our jobs,our pride everything 😢this is what we got .Girls ladies please please wake up ! For yourself .this is not what we deserve 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Fantastic movie. I felt tired watching the heroine gets tired in cooking, washing.. It felt very right to do that activity. In fact she did mild way of doing it.. Thanks to the director to bring this kind of situations boldly to the audience. Hats off.. Wish him good luck for the director and producer to bring such kind of movies ..
