Hey everyone, welcome back to our Fourth Series! For Episode 5 we ventured out to the Great Barrier Reef with Reef Magic Cairns. The all day tour took us to Moore Reef, a large outer reef an hour and a half cruise away from Cairns.
We began the day boarding the catamaran at Marlin Marina, a 20 minute walk from our Airbnb.
Once we boarded the catamaran and went through safety procedures, we set sail to the pontoon out at Moore Reef. During our journey we learned about the different marine life we might encounter on our tour and how we can do our bit to protect the coral and all creatures whilst experiencing the Great Barrier Reef. While both having snorkelled before, neither of us had encountered subversive boat and glass bottom boat tours which was a great way to cover a wider area of the reef.
Once we explored the different tours on offer, we had lunch at the pontoon buffet that the Reef Magic crew had kindly put on for us. The buffet had a wide range of options including Caribbean and Italian food. This was much needed in anticipation for our snorkelling venture after lunch.
It was a great tour to to book on with, having marine biologists on board to give us an in depth knowledge on the different species of animals and to answer any questions we had throughout the day. We had an amazing experience from start to finish and would recommend booking with these guys if you are ever planning on touring the Great Barrier Reef.
