I didn't realize how serious mental illness was until I lost my son amd 2 brothers to suicide. IT IS REAL I wanted so badly to be with them I was hospitalized 6 times over wanting to just end the pain. I'm beyond thankful for not ending my life. I GOT HELP and got to see my only daughter grow into a beautiful adult. She saved me So please if anyone is dealing with deep dark depression. Just remember someone does care amd does love you.

I know what depression feels like because in August of 2018 I was seriously contemplating suicide. I was hearing voices in my head telling I was worthless and I had no use anymore. My doctor put me on Citalopram but it wasn't working. The only power that saved me from those voices in my head was the power of the blood of Jesus Christ. When I called to God that night his presence came to me. I felt love that filled my inner soul. The only way I can keep those feelings of depression away is for me to take some time out every day to give praise singing and worship to God. When I do that I can feel God's love and it lifts me up and strengthens me. If I stay away from worship for to long the depression wants to come back. Praise to God keeps it away.

Suicide isn't always a selfish act. When my oldest son was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 21 he fought a good fight for 4 years. When he couldn't fight anymore he decided to end his life instead of letting his family watch him suffer and waste away. He spoke to me about this after he was diagnosed and I supported his decision. What my son did was a selfless act not a selfish one.

You should have thought of that before you selfishly decided to force a child into this existence who may suffer terribly and should never have to consider such a difficult decision in the first place. The possibility of them not having a good life just so you can be happy is not worth the risk. I hope you just learn from it and read up about anti-natalism.

Hi Lamont; I like what you about people thinking about other people who love them when they want to die,but when depression goes too deep for too long that's not enough. I know because I attempted suicide 5 times & by the grace of God. I am still here. Please if anyone who reads this suffering to the point of suicide please reach out and seek help and know THIS YOU ARE LOVED AND NOT ALONE!!!

I appreciate your words for suicide, but let me give you some advice, the last thing someone who's thinking of suicide needs to hear, is that how they feel is considered selfish or cowardly. All that does is makes them feel that there is something else, that they can add to their list, of what they think is wrong with them, especially if they are dealing with depression. You saying that people love them, even if they don't think they do, was perfect. But then calling them something negative, doesn't help any and actually does the opposite of what you're trying to accomplish. And I'm speaking from recent experience. Love your videos, watch every single one. Keep em coming.

I agree. I'm sure Kate was smart enough to realize the effect it would have on her daughter and the rest of her family and friends but some people can't help giving in to those suicidal feelings. She was probably tormented by them for a long time and I wondered if she ever sought out professional help? When you have anxiety/depression the last thing you want to do is be thrust into the spotlight and in her type of career she had to face that constantly. I don't know how she did it except thru great inner strength to fight that battle every day, so using negative words to describe her suicide is not really fair. If you have ever had these same demons, you know they take you to a very dark place and no amount of wealth or success can help. Thank-you for mentioning where people can get help if needed. I hope Kate has now found peace.

Totally wholeheartedly agree! I feel that people that attempt or take their own lives are way past being able to reason out who they are going to hurt etc. They can only think of wanting the pain to end. I also have never believed it is a sin to take your own life and that ones that do will not go to the afterlife. I believe the real sins the lack of funding for mental health care and the stigma, still today, attached to any and all mental illnesses. We lose way too many loved people because of those 2 things!

I never had one of her bags but knew who she was and was so shocked when she committed suicide. At first I thought how could someone with all she had and had going for her do that and also leave her daughter? But....as someone that has been put through absolute hell these last couple of years I can understand her feeling so down that she checked out. Fortunately, I have never wanted to do that. My heart goes out to her for feeling that depressed and hopeless and to her daughter.....and to anyone else suffering in that way. Please call the number Lamont left if you do. It can and will get better..... Hugs to all.....

Many of these comments are being posted without a clear picture of clinical depression or how mental health affects the person who makes that choice of suicide. The patients very illness does NOT factor in on how it would impact others. There is no thoughts of parents, spouse, friends, even children. The pain is crushing and complete, it often feels like it's the best and only option. It is not a cowardly act, it is an act of desperation.
