In the Southwest during the Civil War, a mysterious stranger, Joe (Clint Eastwood), and a Mexican outlaw, Tuco (Eli Wallach), form an uneasy partnership -- Joe turns in the bandit for the reward money, then rescues him just as he is being hanged. When Joe's shot at the noose goes awry during one escapade, a furious Tuco tries to have him murdered. The men re-team abruptly, however, to beat out a sadistic criminal and the Union army and find $20,000 that a soldier has buried in the desert.

    This is the quintessential gunfight scene. It’ can’t be faulted, the close ups on the eyes, the uncertainty and fear as the hands reach then pull back and then tentatively reach again. And all the while Morricone’s score ratchets up the tension, with the famous “clock” rhythm so often used in his gunfight accompaniments. It’s a masterclass of filmmaking and orchestration

    This is indeed a very special Movie of all time. It has absolutely everything from Fantasic characters played by Legends of the Screen, played out in a fantastic setting accompanied by a world class soundtrack. This Movie belongs in the Hollywood icon Hall of Fame along with Saving Private Ryan.

    But this movie had absolutely no connection with Hollywood. A big reason why it’s so damn unique. And so damn good. Filmed in Italy and Spain. Directed by Sergio Leone 1965 And the best damn soundtrack of all time in my opinion. With masterpiece after masterpiece by the legendary Ennio Morricone. You can see over and over throughout all of the “Spaghetti Westerns” where Q.Tarantino was very extremely heavily influenced.

    Angel Eyes knew he couldn't outduel Blondie, therefore, he stands much more of a chance in a three-way standoff such as this where Blondie will have to pay attention to two men as opposed to just the one. You can see Angel Eyes carefully waiting for the right moment to go for his gun, as Blondie was eyeballing Tuco at that moment. Unfortunately for Angel Eyes (and unbeknowngst to him), Blondie was using Tuco as a diversion since he knew his gun wasn't loaded, meanwhile watching Angel Eyes out of the corner of his eye the entire time.

  • @nisiriti

    Angel Eyes had too. He didn't shoot them in the back (although he can't be sure for Blondie's secret, he definately doesn't need Tuco - they are already in the cemetary after all) and earlier he admited - and admired - Blondie's intelligence and showed sympathy for the injured soldiers in the abandoned fortress, leaving them some alchohol. That's the whole point: no one is totally good or evil, they have the same goal: get the treasure and dissapear, the difference is the lengths they are willing to get into to acieve it. AE, although he sees the suffering of the war, he's willing to add to it if it helps him get the gold, Tuco most of the time is indifferent and gets vengeful only if you have betrayed him, and Blondie acts as a jerk, but sometimes stops to help someone in need or pay his respects - he's also the smartest which means he knows having as good relationships as possible can be more helpful in the future

  • @nisiriti

    @nisiriti

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@jeremycrisp4488 they all killed for money. You forget that Tuco is wanted for this reason (and many more) and Blondie killed the first 3 bounty hunters that would take Tuco just to take him himself, and not to save him, but to continue selling him around. Being so smart, he realised he could make much more money like this, than killing him and take 2000 dollars only once. I agree though that AE is the worse, but still has a personal code of honor, and btw when you hire an assasin you have to know what's coming for you. You know he kills for money, not personal reasons, so you buy his gun, not loyalty. He also didn't torture Tuco for fun, but to take the information about the location. On the other hand, he didn't touch Blondie, respecting his intelligence that wouldn't give him the name, even if it meant he would die. He also somewhat cared for his gang and warned them for Tuco and Blondie, asking them to catch only Blondie alive (you'd say it would be simple 5 against 2, and they still managed to lose). Of coursed he's still a sly snake that when he saw the battle didn't turn out well, he prefered to escape to save himself. He's a complicated villain. His employer wasn't an innocent man either, since he and his 2 friends stole the money in the first place and later they turned against each other because of them. They actually commited treason because these money were for the war. Actually, ALL the characters of the film consider the war as the worse that could happen - and correctly - and want these money to escape from it. But only those who used the war in order to achieve it lost their lives, meaning the original trio (Stevens, Baker and Jackson aka Bill Carson) and AE.
