The Good, The Bad And The Ugly is, is flawless. Directed by the legendary, Sergio Leone, with such an iconic soundtrack by Ennio Morricone, and a duo of Clint Eastwood (Blondie), and Eli Wallach as Tuco, this duo sealed the film, and were perfection. The greatest Western movie ever made. The actors in this movie are legends, and their characters immortalised by the film. All others associated with this film are additionally immortalised. This is the pinnacle of what a Western movie should be. It has everything perfect. It never grows old and is timeless. As Clint Eastwood noted, 'The wild west was called the wild west for a reason.' This movie is as old as me. I watch it over and over and over and never tire of it. This is a MASTERPIECE. What makes this movie better than any other is its tempo. Timing is everything. Cool, calm, and collected. It is very difficult to keep a pundit captivated for hours but the genius of this movie keeps the viewer enthralled. Clint Eastwood is a Legend. Having said that, and with no disrespect to him, I think 'TUCO' takes the cake as being "Best Man on Set". The SCORE to this film is also masterfully interwoven in that it is provided at the appropriate moment, resonates beautifully and with a high degree of suspense attached.

  • @carlofrusciante9979
    @carlofrusciante997910 ай бұрын

    A masterpiece of cinematography. The three character are so well designed and acted - Van Cleef is one of the worst villain ever depicted and Tuco is astonishing in his complexity - the score of Morricone is revolutionary and the directing is innovative in the same way of Eisenstein, Kurosawa, Fellini... There are so many iconic scenes. A movie that is a cornerstone and that hse shaped the way cinema is still done today. Many people focus on the final duel scene, surely a great shooting (my favourite duel scene is in "Once upon a time in the wests" with Fonda and Bronson) but to me the real peak is the Sand Hill scene, so powerful and full of meanings. And the scenes at the bridge or at the Mission are so dramatic but still so poetic.... What a movie!

    As iconic as the Man with No Name is, Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez (known as The Rat) is one of the greatest characters to grace the silver screen. He is a hilarious comic relief, a sympathetic underdog, a greedy opportunist and a resilient badass all rolled into one. You love him, hate him, root for him, laugh at him, learn from him and connect with him. He is extremely well-written, full of personality and depth and was brought to life to maximum perfection by the Oscar-worthy Eli Wallach. He is the reason The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is the cinematic masterpiece it is, other than Sergio Leone's direction and Ennio Morricone's music.

    This movie was WAY ahead of its time. A big problem I have with pre-70s movies is that their style has aged and worn off in a way that modern audiences will find boring. The best way (in fact the only way, for me) to appreciate a movie is to let IT dictate its own terms, its own time and its own style to me. In other words, allow it to return me back to the time it was made....or, in the case of films made before I was born, to what I THINK is how things were.That way you inhabit ITS world rather than shoehorn it into the present. This means I can see the true worth of a brilliant movie whether it's Seven Samurai or Kes or Blade Runner rather than, like soooo many people, being hung up on the fact whether or not it would be made today with today's 'style' of moviemaking, let alone today's society, today's politics, today's morality. Otherwise I would just end up with a narrow view of what a great movie is ie. today's style of acting, editing, CGI, etc.etc, which itself will eventually go out of date as new styles evolve. I appreciate I might be in a minority here. But I think I'm having a more interesting time, watching and indulging in movies from all eras, all nationalities, all styles, silent or sound, b&w or colour.... The secret? Let the movie transport you to its own time. A good movie isn't good simply because it's modern.

    That sinister laugh at 17:25 is the primary reason I love this movie. Lee Van Cleef was born to play this role of evil personified. Angel Eyes may have fewer kills compared to Blondie or Tuco but the fact that he sadistically kills his own employer and is audacious enough to give out a sinister laugh once he kills him sends shivers down the spine. Angel Eyes is an excellent character portrayed by Van Cleef.

    Yes, I find Eastwood to be a decent enough actor, but Van Cleef as Angel Eyes (my daughter’s favourite character in the film) is better, & far more charismatic as the villain of the piece. However, both are eclipsed by Eli Wallach as Tuco! Tuco is, by far, the most memorable character in the film & the reason for this is primarily due to Wallach’s acting.

Lee van Cleef along Eli was best with good performance from Eastwood. Lee van Cleef started his own career after this but didn't got much attention as Clint " The Big Gundown" " Day of Anger" " Death Rides a horse" " Beyond the Law" " Sabata" " Barquero" All are highly underated but very good👍.

    Watched this so many times, it's still enjoyable. There's a lot of wry humour in it, and surprisingly a few moments of real compassion - Blondie's reaction to the carnage of the Civil War, even Angel Eye's reaction to it. Or Blondie not calling bullshit on Tuco's joyous reunion with his brother. I don't think the film's star was Eastwood - It was Eli Wallach as Tuco, one of the best characters ever put to the screen.

    I watched this movie for the first time when I was 4 years old in 1966 with my dad. Altough I couldn't make much out of it at that age but I was remembering all the details of it to the point that everyone in the family was asking me to retrace it cause they couldn't see the film yet!! Yea, it's a great movie for sure!!...never tired to see it over&over!! Thanks for the upload!.....

    It is impossible to go through all these comments, but I noticed something not many have commented about. The character of Tuco has a raw hell-for-leather courage. When he walks the street to face Angel Eyes, knowing that Lee Van Cleef has five people with him, Tuco does not wait to see if Blondie is with him or not. That took some absolutely brass-balls gumption. When Blondie catches his attention and indicates they will face-down Angel Eyes and his sidekicks together, there is a bond that forms from Tuco's side. The subtle emotions are perfectly expressed by Eli Wallach. Facing battle/war together seems to create the bond that is expressed in - "You did not desert me, my Brothers in Arms" - another incomparable master-piece in another domain - music. (Brothers in Arms - Mark Knopfler - Dire Straits). My thirst for watching westerns actually got addressed only after the internet made "infinite media volume" possible.

    Greatest cowboy movie in the history of the world. Since then, no cowboy movie comes even close. The story, setting, the legendary iconic actors, especially CLINT EASTWOOD, and the music evoke and exudes the feeling bringing you into their realm unimaginable even by today's standards. The beautiful part here is that that there is an important morale and point that truth and honesty prevail right to the end when Clint Eastwood freed his arch enemy by shooting the noose to free him for otherwise he would be hung.
