First saw this in the 60s when it came out, Im 71 and its still my favorite movie. Great music, scenery, wonderful actors all. Interesting story of how it was put together in face of an actors strike. Thanks for posting it
Allegedly, Kurosawa Akira, the director of the original “Seven Samurai”, was so impressed by how John Sturges managed to capture the essence of “Bushido” (Japanese Warrior Spirit) in a Wild West setting with this lovely remake, that he gifted him a finely forged Katana (Samurai Sword) as a gesture of respect; and it is said both directors became and remained close friends thereafter.
The best western movie with the best cast. A true classic that will never get old.

It ain't the best Western. And Seven Samurai is better.
When I read the comments about this all time great Western I was surprised nobody mentioned the Producer/Director John Sturges. He is my most favourite Director. He went on to make The Great Escape. Whether it was a Western, a war movie, a space movie or a movie about an old man and the sea he gave us top value for entertainment. I am now almost 82 years old & I still feel it was the greatest Western. Adios Mr. John Sturges.
I sawvthis movie in the year 1963 at the age of 14 and nowbI am 73 yrs old and still I am happy to see this film for the 25th time.

Still in the top 5 westerns of all time. What’s unfortunate and a insult is the great Mr. Bernstein didn’t win an Oscar for this classic western song.
I too have lost count of how many times I have watched the Magnificent Seven. Timeless!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I love older movie's, they have a different feel to them compared to newer crap.

Brilliant film, with such a talented cast. Thanks for the upload.
Steve McQueen was on an amazing streak in the 1960s, starting with The Magnificent Seven, followed by The Great Escape, Love with the Proper Stranger, The Cincinnati Kid, The Sand Pebbles, The Thomas Crown Affair, and Bullitt. By the end of the decade, he was the #1 box office draw in Hollywood.
Elmer Bernstein wrote the most iconic, and well known western themes EVER! My heart pounds every time I hear it! Just magnificent!
I was 10 years old when I saw it for the first time, I am 72 years old now and I get the same kick out of watching it today. I have no idea how many times I watched it, at least 100, maybe a thousand, it doesn't matter, classic is classic. Immortal... Nostalgic...

What I love in these classic Westerns is the elegant, gentlemanly dialogue, even if it's a bit out of place with these rough frontiersmen. No curse words, no disrespect whatsoever, even from the outlaw chief.
Most of the famous Holiwood stars can be seen in this movie. I saw this movie at the age of 13)15. I'm 68 now.❤

I saw this movie in Sri Lanka in 1965. The movie was based on a the Japanese Kurosawa's classic " The Seven Samurai" . I really enjoyed this movie for its moral connotations of violence used as a tool for good. Also I was impressed with McQueen's performance as the reluctant warrior.

McQueen, the relative upstart to the very established Yul Brynner, really pissed the older actor off by stealing scenes. Like sitting on his horse behind Chris who was talking and McQueen, Vin, would keep twirling his reins tips to draw the eye to himself.

@@fernandocarloto2291 Last year with no place left to turn I prayed to God in repentance then begged for help with all my heart, "I was until then a lifelong Atheist." I then had a dream of Jesus coming before God and he spoke of the Tabernacle in perfect context, "A word I didn't know existed because I've never read the bible", and the love I felt from Jesus was unlike anything I've ever felt before - A lifetime of joy every second - It brought me to sobbing and it changed my life forever. I've had other miracles since, a few being a light turning on in answer to deeply needful prayer 6 times, seeing a orb of light hours before a major surgery, seeing an Angel in a dream the night my mother prayed for me to see one, "Without telling me", and so much more. Know that God and Jesus ARE real and that they love us deeply. Let go of your hatred and Imagine yourself holding the people who've hurt you. Tell them you love and forgive them and I believe we should do our best to follow, "I've failed many times", the 10 commandments. Always have hope. I believe that love is the answer.
This was their Expendables, and it was actually good.
One of the best of five westerns ever made. Amazing cast and brilliant perfornances and production. Charles Bronson was my favorite character in the film. But everyone was great.
Ah, "The Magnificent Seven"! This is a classic in the world of Hollywood Westerns. The way it brings together such diverse characters, each with their own unique background and skills, really makes for an engaging story. It's fascinating to see how these characters interact and develop throughout the movie. What do you think makes a character stand out in an ensemble cast like this one?
One of the greatest movie!!!Yul,Steve,Charles,Elly...Classic
A nod to The Seven Samurai Which came from Kurusawa one of his best. Hollywood imitated. One of their better imitations!

Born in 61, saw this as a 6yr old at my local cinema, it was a double feature, on with return of the seven. Doesn’t date and along with a couple of Eastwood classics, is one of greatest films ever let alone western, a great film is one you have seen many times, even though you know what’s coming, it’s still great
How many times did I see this as a 5th grader at the old Los Gatos theater I can't say, but at 70 I am still loving this classic!!!

The Magnificent Seven, over time, has come to describe the lead actors more than the movie. And the most magnificent of the seven ... Yul Brynner. Impossible to match him.

Love this film and the original Seven Samurai. Funny it was remade into a Shaw Brothers’ Kung fu version. And the theme song of the Hollywood version was a favorite in many China events/ award ceremonies. I laughed every time I heard it in those occasions, knowing that no one was aware of it’s American origin.
Watching in honor of my dad. I would go over on weekends and help and he and I would always watch western movies together. I miss that so much. All I need now is a fruit cobbler I'd always make us. Rip daddy. ❤

And I remember watching black and white movies with my mom's. And also when we used to watch The wizard of Oz and so many other movies. But I will tell you this. There is no movies now that could beat the movies back in the past. Because they were the best. One Love. And God bless all my brothers and sisters of all nationalities. And all over the world 🌎 freedom 🇺🇸💞💜💖🙏👼🦾🏆💪🤼⚖️🧘🌎🇺🇸✌️🤟🏹👍😇💓❤️💕

Excellent movie I have seen it many times over my 74 years . Great actors you have to love the old westerns. The music is the best always recognize it when I hear it .
Am I exaggerating to say that this film is the best of the western category ? I don't think I do ! A great group of the best actors at that time, I correct myself, not just a great group but a terrifically MAGNIFICENT one ! And what about the film's soundtrack ? Certainly the most loved one ! Thanks for posting ! I appreciate being able to watch it again !
In the year of 1969 , I worked as housekeepinng living inside the Coburn's family in Tower road forgot the number. James have 2 ferarry, silver and red. His wife used to drive a small VW. James's daughter Liza... They were very nice family to me. What a good memories ...

One of the few remakes that does its original story justice 😁. Big time! ❤
One of THE coolest movies ever!! Yul Brynner is BAD ASS😊
What a great movie. The cinematography, the borrowed story theme, the acting. And the music is fantastic---what an indelible unforgettable musical composition and soundtrack. It was that soundtrack that fixated me when I first heard it, never to be forgotten.

at times, it gets too "stringy", heavy on the string section of the orchestra. I've found hollywood tends to break out the strings and oboes to express heavy emotion.

My daughter, now 33,was going to see the remake, and I told her to save her money and watch original one. She was a fan of Yul Brenner so she watched it. She loved it. She's not a big westerns fan. But she did like this one.

Rosenda Monteros!!! I was 10 years old when I saw this movie at the theater with my parents (1961). I told my mother then that that girl was who I wanted to marry. I was a little gringo, but I fell in love with Latinas and yes, I eventually married one. I am 70 years old now, and have never looked back!!😍😎

Saludos!!

This was the first time I viewed the movie. I’m 72 yrs of age. A great movie with great actors and story. Too bad if you want to watch a great movie today, you have to turn to the classics. Junk they putting out today is junk.
