The Good, the Bad and the Ugly by Stig Hoefnagel - Kiteboarding in Holland

Kiteboarding in Holland is a mission. We have a lot of water and a lot of wind. Not the typical trade winds: Low pressure systems deliver cold, rainy and gusty conditions with winds coming from all directions. Scoring a good session means preparing with the forecast charts, scouting locations, and require a bit of luck. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it does not.
This season we wanted to take you on a tour trough our best spots with prime conditions. As always, the wind did not work out as planned. This shows what kiteboarding in Holland is! You always have to play with the cards you are dealt. But in this imperfectness also lies it's beauty - The unexpected is the reason I fell in love with the sport in the first place.
Let me take you on a trip in our home country and show you what the possibilities are.
(disclaimer) we had permission to kite on all locations shown in this video.

Espetacular vídeo, stuning tricks, show. Bravo 👏👏
Amazing Video Stig reminds me of right here at home in the Highlands of Scotland 🏴 🤙
Meest inspirerende filmpje ooit voor kitesurfen. Mooie ruige beelden en spectaculaire tricks. Dit doet het zo hard kriebelen ook al spartel ik nog wat om de basis onder de knie te krijgen.

Super nice video and story telling 🔥🔥
I had my first kite lesson on a family vacation to Belgium & Holland way back in early 2000s, but I lived in Ohio where we all we get is snow and very small hills lol so I moved to south Florida in 2012 and been kiting ever since. Best decision I ever made! Excellent video Stig! 🤙🏼
Geweldig om te zien , daar krijg ik nog meer motivatie van 💪💪💪

Great edit, epic riding! I don’t know the guy, but Stig comes across as a bit of a “zure sliert” (free translation: sour lemon, for the non native speakers). With 140km of broad sandy beaches and a lot of wind, ridable from almost every direction. Many kiters envy Holland for its kite potential. A shame that this is lost on the guy. Anyway, great job guys! Keep ‘em coming ✊🏻

Thanks dude! Yes Holland is beautiful! And definitely a very sick place to kite! But you need to search for the good😁 makes you appreciate everything even more! Definitely not the intention of this movie to come forward as a spoiled kiter.

Sweet one dude! Love the vibe and Denmark is just as challenging so nice to hear it from a pro! :D

Yes the conditions are very similar I would say! I Love Denmark 🤘🏾💪🏾
Would you ever use an 11m² kite in 30 knots? (Little story time coming) I've been kiting for about a year and a bit, can't do powered loops just yet, and I went out on my 11 in 25 knots but it picked up to 34 knots and I was really wondering why I was having so much trouble keeping an edge. None the less I was having a good time jumping around and only found out after the session how strong it was. I suppose 34knots on an 11 is do able but I wouldn't say anyone would feel safe looping it in that.
@EdwinHaighton
2 жыл бұрын
No problems, you can loop it
Man you are complaining about wind in holland?! Look at f***ing germany🤣 I always look on windy and you guys always have a few knots more😂 jokes aside- awesome film mate and incredible riding🤟🏼

Note to self, no kiting in Holland
You are such a good rider, but you're every 5min complaining about how bad are the conditions in Holland. Its a bit depressing...

I think it’s a very honest story, not making it look amazing when it isn’t. And I really don’t wanna come forward like a spoiled kiter because I do really enjoy kiting in The Netherlands and it’s still one of my favourite kiting destinations. You just need to search for the goods😁 does make you appreciate kiting more when it’s shit every now and then, then when it’s perfect everyday that’s for sure!
I always liked your content here and aswell on insta. But i think this video sucks. Your riding is nice, cut is nice, but it feels like your only complaining about shit conditions in holland. Your a free man go kite somewhere else then. I dont understand the reason of this movie other than making kiting bad
@EdwinHaighton

The intention is to show the contrast between the perfect sunny places we usually see in videos and our beautiful raw and filthy North Sea 🤗

@@EdwinHaighton watched it now two full times. Still get the feeling of only a complaining rider. I get the idea. And i feel the same a lot of times as i also live in the area but somehow the nagatives overshoot the positive intention in this film i think. I think its because i look at the conditions out of a normal guy perspective. Not a professional 30m insane guy like stig. A little to much „bad“ sessions for me in that film.
