@@majorevangelism Oh they actually explain that! Kinda? Anyway so after Mindy died her sister carried out her will and started Mindy's charity. So the afterlife was able to calculate her good points total she would have gotten from doing it herself fairly accurately. But there's no way to know what bad stuff she would have done if she lived. Which is one of the reasons no one gets into the good place it's because for every good thing you do there's a thousand bad things you don't know about the brings your total down so without those a thousand bad things that she would have done while doing this mega charity she was able to accrue these good points with her current total before she died!

If you think about it, probably the only thing that saved Mindy was the fact that she died RIGHT after taking the money out. Had she lived to see her organization grow, she would have probably gained negative points due to “mismanagement”. If you think about it, the only thing she had to prove herself good was her intention, and if said intentions had actually taken place they would have probably damage a lot of lives and she would have gone down to the bad place

The reason why is because of the absurdity of her situation She was the only human that had a shitty life, did an amazing thing to bring herself to the neutral score and immediately died before that score could be ruined by the complex reality of life Simply the fact her deed did good and she left a positive impact and literally immediately died means all negative consequences were other people's fault, not hers. “Ending” is the key. The show’s creator insisted on a closed story, with an ending. And it’s a good, completely reasonable ending. Other shows, no matter how good they are in the beginning, just trail off into video snow and audio, white noise if they go on more than X seasons. They tend to go on too long, of course, because of $$$. Think about the analogy of novels. A lot of books have really good, catchy beginnings: “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,” “Call me Ishmael,” “The sky above the port was the color of television tuned to a dead channel.” Now give me a memorable close:___________.

I see people wondering why Mindy has a medium place, considering the good place never fought for anything. This is because It wasn't the good place who brought up the topic on what to do with Mindy, it was the judge and accountants When Eleanor, Jason, and Janet Mindy says "that's the nicest and only thing anybody has ever said to me in 30 years," When the group meets up the judge, she also says "I haven't had a case in 30 years, so I'm suuuuuuuuupeer bored..." Finally they never said that the good place fought for Mindy, she just said "I woke up, and turns out THEY'VE been fighting over me for a while," she never specified who "they" was. This is what I'm guessing happened: The people in accounting saw that Mindy was about to make something that would get her a ton of "forking" points, and they say that a couple billion accountants calculate where the person goes, half decided good place, since she was trying to do something amazing, half decides bad place since she did a lot of horrible deeds, the case goes to the judge and she decides Mindy needs a medium place so it would be fair, and brought in a good place and bad place architect.

I'm not familiar with this shows life but from they way people are talking about it I'm guessing there is literally no way for anyone to get into heaven no matter what you do. I'm gonna guess heaven in this universe is run by some very self entitled people who want the place all to the selves so they just fudge the numbers and just come up with reasons as to why everyone gets more bad points than good. Am I close? Cause it seems un fair to judge a person based off a chain reaction if events they didn't know they were apart of. Like what if I gave a guy 20$ so he could buy some lunch but then he got stabbed for his 20$ and then the stabber got hit by a car and then the car ran into a tanker truck which caused it to explode and destroy 5 building in the process leaving dozens dead one of which was the president and vice president leaving America defenseless which gave way to enemy nations invading starting world war 3 and the world ended up under the rule of Australia. ....WHICH THEN caused an alien invasion because they are anti Australian but unjustly attacking a planet is against universal law which triggered space war 4 having multiple solar systems of alien star ships battling across the galaxy.

This is because of (1) how the afterlife is judged and since (2) Earth is capitalistic. Judgement is based on both consequentialism and intent. It’s highly mathematical so takes account future possibilities and indirect effects. The main theme from the show isn’t much about good and bad, instead, that there are flaws in the system.

You got it worng. Is not taht she was the best human in hundreds of years. In fact she was SUPPOSED to go to the Bad Place. But before she died she pulled out all her money and she was gonna start a charity. Then she died. But her sister(or friend or something like taht I don't remember) knew if her plans and took taht money, started the charity, and raised millions of dollars and helped a LOT if people. That had a positive effect on Mindy's score ince her actions helped a lot of people even after her death. So they decided on a medium place. It was a coincidental occurrence.
