Am I the only one that doesn’t like Phoenix as the championship race? I always loved Homestead as being the last race. And I don’t think it’s just nostalgia. I like Phoenix’s dog leg and the action that comes from people running on it, but Homestead was always more action packed for me. Edit: I totally agree about New Hampshire. It’s my home track, I’ll always have a bias towards it, but there’s a reason the September race was cut. And yes, I agree. After Sunday, they need some lighting 😂 yeah they finished it but they cut it close.

I'm ok with Homestead move if they can get a 2026 championship race. Loudon or Gateway would be fine but both feels like way too many flat tracks especially with a dry Phoenix finale. Give the fans the Charlotte oval since many hate road courses.

One thing that helps Homestead in terms of getting the season finale in 2026 is the fact that it will host a Formula E race next year & the FIA fully expects the track to upgrade its facilities in order to host that particular event. Homestead is replacing Portland on the Formula E schedule which may end up helping Portland get a Cup Series date (which would be the first ever Cup Series race in the PNW) due to Gateway being moved into the playoffs. Even if Portland does not get a Cup Series race, I fully expect the Xfinity Series to return there next year as a way of NASCAR maintaining a presence in the PNW.
@tylerpuszczewicz2535

If that's the case than maybe NASCAR should use the road course, there at Homestead as the oval has the worst racing in NASCAR.
And for the Ugly: The fact that it still exists.
I'll be blunt: The playoffs as a whole is a crapshoot, and it's never going to be a true, legtitimate way to crown a champion to diehards anyway. So I say, make it a crapshoot, two superspeedways, two roadcourses, hell add the new detroit track. It's all about chaos and game 7 moments, so embrace the shithousery

That's a good point! I had a dream one time about a Fall/Halloween-themed short track. Benny Parsons and Bob Jenkins were commentating it. I specifically remember one part where the camera panned over to some kids smashing a pumpkin outside the track and Bob Jenkins saying "Well that was rude."
My only complain is, why we have FOUR flat tracks (Loudon, Gateway, Martinsville and Phoenix) i think should be more balanced, if it’s true, Christopher Bell would have the best opportunity to win the championship

Same goes for homestead with Larson. If he makes the champ 4 then he basically has it locked up. That’s part of why I don’t want it as the championship race
Wish nascar and indycar did a march doubleheader at homestead next year
Dover should’ve been the in the playoffs and not New Hampshire. You avoid weather delays and add a unique track back to the playoffs. Gateway I don’t mind for the reasons given even if it’s not an amazing race. And adding on to Homestead, another thing to mention is Formula E will race there starting next year. And assuming it’s a multi year deal I’m sure they’d love a facility upgrade.
@chrisguardiano6143

As someone who follows Formula E closely, I think Formula E is going to give Homestead one chance to put on a good race mainly because of the backlash they have received from fans (mainly West Coast ones) about Portland being taken off of the schedule for Homestead next season. If Homestead produces a bad Formula E race after the facility upgrades, I could easily see Formula E going back to Portland for 2026.

1. Abolish the playoffs 2. Start the season w/ the Daytona 500 Presidents Day Weekend and finish the season Labor Day weekend at Darlington to avoid NFL 3. Abolish the Playoffs
Not to mention yesterday only had 6 lead changes just feel they should figure out how to have this car work on the low banking more flat tracks
I used to go to the fall New Hampshire race every year with my dad growing up until they stopped in 2017. Their were more boring races that I remember than exciting tbh. But seeing Mark Martin get his last win, okay that one was worth it.
Being a regular at Loudon, I can attest to the fact that the September race was always the preferred race among the regulars who go to Loudon due to the weather in September vs. June/July in New England. If the September race does indeed come back, the fans will show up there like you haven’t seen in 7-8 years.
Next year my kiddo should be old enough to go to a race (year and a half pretty much at that time) i wish darlington, bristol or dover was my home track but im happy to have the magic mile, grew up watching dirt races in N.H and went to a couple races at London as a kid, hopefully the boy gets into racing and we can see some tracks that his great grandfather went to
You know I just thought of something when you were showing Watkins Glen. The numbers really pissed me off when they move them forward. But thinking about it now it doesn't bother me at all and they actually look good. But when they first announced that I was mad.
As a homestead resident I hate the new change however, as a nascar fan I understand the change. still really sad to see though considering the history
This schedule would remind me a lot of the 2020 season, Darlington Richmond Bristol vibes. Except for a longer duration
Here's my predictions as to how the Playoff schedule is laid out. Round of 16 1. Darlington (Confirmed) 2. New Hampshire 3. Bristol Night Race Round of 12 1. Kansas 2. Talladega 3. Charlotte Roval Round of 8 1. Las Vegas 2. Gateway 3. Martinsville Finale: Phoenix (Confirmed)

I would say choose between Loudon and Gateway for the Playoffs, that way there aren't too many flat ovals across the 10-race stretch. I think you make a good case for Gateway, and if you've been there in person, you know how aweseome the atmopshere is.
Me too @The Iceberg I’ve never liked Homestead as an attraction. Racing is great but I need more attractions and renovations like Phoenix for a Championship.
NASCAR needs to toss out the stupid playoff system period.
I like the southern 500 moving too. It being in the playoffs takes away from its focus that it is a crown jewel.
@stonecoldracing6
Ай бұрын
There HAS to be a crown jewel in the playoffs and it’s the only one. Glad they’re moving it back to where it deserves to be.
I would start the season a week or two later (especially if NFL adds 18th game) so that the Southern 500 can fit at the end of the regular season, but still be on Labour Day. Make Daytona 500, Coke 600, Brickyard 400, and Southern 500 worth 10 Playoff Points to the winner to emphasize the Crown Jewels, and have 2-3 short tracks, 2-3 intermediate, 2 superspeedways, and 2 road courses in the playoffs with a rotating finale.
Should of thrown nashville or a different smi tracks over ethier gateway or new Hampshire do feel wasn't bad race yesterday but feel it showed that the short track package works on decent banked high speed tracks and not more flat tracks hope they can fine a way to fix it over changing it for all tracks cause iowa was crazy to show what kind of good can come from the package but all the other tracks are to flat to make the car work with the package
A reason baseball is growing is facilities and hospitality. Only 25% (im my personal opinion of working in sports) actually come just for the racing. The other 75% are looking for a fun experience. Homestead hasnt had to get that other 75 because the championship factor of its races. Without it, its pulled some glaring problems. Great track. But the track doesnt sell the entirety of the grandstands. I hope once Homestead gets facilities, they can host the championship. Until then, im still begging them to move it to Kansas Speedway.
Homestead needs that extra downtime for the new renovations they are doing in preparation for the 2026 Finale! IT IS HAPPENING but in 2026 and beyond.
I like the rumors
They really need to take advantage of the incredible racing we’re getting with the next Gen at 1.5+ racetracks! Change the Roval!
I just wish for Texas Motor Speedway to land on June 15 for this coming season.
Pocono needs to be in the playoffs. If for nothing else, because of its uniqueness.
@runrafarunthebestintheworld
Ай бұрын
Thats not really a good reason though.
Homestead: loss for now sure, but w for the future perhaps Southern 500: back as a opener is fine. Great marque venue to start the playoffs Gateway: Okay I guess, it's great in it's current spot, so I don't think it needs playoff date, but the track is good and St. Louis market would be boosted even more, so it's fine I guess Glen out: it will be placeholder in the playoffs to begin with, so if it returns to it's regular spot, than it's good. Same goes for Atlanta New Hampshire: I don't know tbh, I think tracks like Dover or Pocono would be much better in my opinion (I don't know if these tracks could be on that New Hampshire slot, So correct me if I'm wrong)
I was at New Hampshire it should be back in the Chase
During Jared's speculation video last week on the playoff changes I told you all Gateway was getting a new date and you all down voted me and said I was wrong (not saying I endorse the new date, kind of neutral on it, just saying it was happening). You all owe me an apology lol (joking I really don't care). I have a source at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway who said the reason Indycar changed their date for 2025 was because NASCAR was changing their Gateway date. I trusted my source on this one, and my source was right fools.
As much as I would hate to have Homestead not be in the playoffs, I can completely understand the reasoning behind getting the place renovated so that it can officially return as the championship venue. In which case, I would say go for it. The others, I'm not so keen about. Unless NASCAR gives them wet weather tires at every short track without slicks, where the weather has pause the tires wear as Extreme as they were in Bristol, what's the point?
Maybe unpopular, but i think they should switch Charlottes playoff race to The Rock!!!! NC still gets their race, and us old heads get our old track back (with fresh pavement)!!!!!
The Charlotte Roval should get the Axe Considering Watkins Glen is now in the Playoffs
Well, when it comes to what Jordan Bianchi said about the possible changes to the playoffs in 2025, here's what I have to say about them: 1st, for Homestead, I really don't like the idea of it being removed from the playoffs next year because I had gotten used to seeing it return to the playoffs the last two years even though I still miss it hosting championship weekend, but with what we've been hearing about how they're pushing to have Homestead host championship weekend in 2026, I might be all right with it and I would like to see Homestead take place after the Daytona 500, similar to what they did in 2021 during the pandemic. 2nd, when it comes to New Hampshire, it was originally part of the playoffs from 2004-2017 and it would be a return to the playoffs for that track, but I would rather keep it in July and give Dover another shot in the playoffs. And finally, as far as Gateway goes, I'm 50/50 on that one. All-in-all, in the end, that's all I've got to say, so goodbye!
@runrafarunthebestintheworld
Ай бұрын
Defienitly a no go on giving Dover another shot. It was boring just like New Hampshire was and no I don't want to hear the weather excuse.
Personally I would rather not have the stupid playoffs, but since we are stuck with them have it end at a different track every year. One year it is at North Wilkesboro, then the next at Bristol, then at Charlotte, etc.
Love Gateway getting some love. Granted I'm biased because I live only a couple miles from the track and pass it every day going to and from work.
I would have rather seen Dover added back into the playoffs than New Hampshire. Pocono also would have been a better option. I really hope that Miami becomes the final race again though in 2026.
NASCAR really shouldn't destroy what they've had since 2022-23. An actual interesting playoff schedule. Homestead MUST be in the playoffs, so should Darlington. Those races should not be left out of the playoffs under any circumstances. Daytona should be the regular season finale.
As a St. Louis native it is true the nfl can go to hell in our eyes but depending on the date if the cardinals are in contention or in the playoffs everything else happening in this city doesn't matter
Definitely need to get rid of the Charlotte Roval all together. Turn the second Daytona race into the road course there. It was good the Covid year. Definitely not two super speedways in the playoffs, it’s just ridiculous. The finale needs to be 400 miles wherever they go. 300 or 312 miles is not long enough and the short track package is crap so the finale must be at a 1 1/2 track every time.
I like we’re Loudon is because it’s my birthday so it would suck a lot because I couldn’t go on my birthday
Still don't understand what renovations are needed at Homestead. It was completely fine hosting the championship for almost 20 years, and once other tracks get renovated, that automatically means Homestead needs to be upgraded too? All I can think of are the bathrooms and turn 1 grandstands. What else needs to be done? I know I shouldn't complain about getting renovations done. I'm cool new tracks getting a playoff date. Happy for Watkins Glen this year & Gateway next year. New Hampshire I'm concerned about because it's not one of NASCAR's best tracks. If they get a playoff race for a few years then great, but I"m hoping it's not for that long. Our schedule is made up of so many different tracks, that I think it's crazy to assume having an extra road course or plate race makes the whole playoff system a crapshoot.

I hate the schedule. Why don’t they bring Kentucky back or Chicago land? And I can’t believe they tore down California.
I like it. The playoffs races should consistently change and not remain consistent. That will help keep it fresh and create further parity which means more satisfied fans. The casual fans that is because we all know the diehards will complain no matter what but the casuals are the ones that ultimately matter the most. That's what all the other stick and ball sports have learned and why they're seeing huge increase in ratings and attendance. Especially baseball. Tradition doesn't mean much anymore to people, people want to be entertained and they want change that will bring more entertainment. Staying the same is not how you do that.

I will accept the hate but New Hampshire which is 1 hour 15 minutes from Boston and 3 hours from New York City deserves 2 races and at least 1 playoff date. Ever since my first race attending in the late 2000s I have seen the neglect and cost cutting that has been detrimental to the customer. I wish the individuals who owned it cared about it as much as I do and remember what it was. Now I had a son and he will be 1 year old in a couple weeks and it gets harder to travel to different tracks. One can hope I suppose.

BRING BACK CHICAGOLAND
Homestead is super overrated, the community doesn't turn out for the races there and the racing has been single file against the wall for several years now. Phoenix is also overhated and it seems to stem solely from the fact that they have the championship race currently and that they've changed the layout significantly several times since 2011 leading to drivers diving to the inside wall on restarts. If we had a non-goofy championship format would anybody care that Phoenix is the finale? I doubt it. The facility is super modern, most of the track has viable lanes for the finale making it ideal for a winner take all race, plus every race there is a sell out. Not to mention the chances of it being dry and warm for the second most important event of the year can't be understated. New Hampshire is also overhated for similar reasons IMO.
Why do people pay this much attention to schedule? Who cares whether a specific track is a 5th or 35th race of the reason? Would the race at New Hampshire been better later in a year than it was yesterday?
Oh PLEASE don't let Phoenix be the last race of the year anymore. Put Homestead back or bring the final race to Charlotte. I'm begging you, NASCAR.
Why do people hate road course racing? It’s the ticket to younger, more global fan base smh

Gateway is a great track, and with the Indy date for June already established, clearly Gateway is going to be a playoff track for NASCAR. I approve.

I agree with you! Unfortunately the playoffs are here to stay, so NASCAR seems to be at least making an attempt at bridging the division between us purists, and new fans. When NASCAR is at least trying to make an effort, by listening to the fanbase, reacting accordingly, EVERYONE wins!
I say maybe SMI should swap the second Vegas race in the Playoffs for North Wilkesboro. A comeback of North Wilkesboro with a points-paying race would be landmark. I think north Wilkesboro has made a case for a points-paying date with its hosting of the All-Star Race. Plus, the Las Vegas race has had low attendance especially last October. Maybe we should not be having a race in Las Vegas in the middle of football season, and maybe Las Vegas does not need two dates.
