In this Adobe Illustrator tutorial, we will create our very own golden ratio spiral rectangle (Fibonacci sequence) and then use the techniques we’ve learned to create a series of circles that we can overlay on a sketch in Illustrator and use the Shaper Tool to quickly hack away and join shapes together to create a simple flat, negative space icon. This technique is effective for so many different design applications and I think you’ll really love this! Thanks for watching!

I owe my entire career to you Tutvid. I am a single mother who learned Adobe products using your tutorials years ago! I was a secretary and I volunteered to do graphic design work and web design work using WordPress. Eventually I proved my worth and now our business management company has a marketing department where's before we didn't. So thanks for everything! ❤️

Thank you for making this video! I haven't even finished it yet and it's already 10x more helpful than other golden ratio design videos because you're actually explaining your step by step thought process of how to USE the circles. All other videos just show them laying over various circles in hyperlapse to make designs with background music and I just leave confused because they didn't talk about how the circles work in the design, the roles the circles and the ratio play, how to apply it to my own design, nothing. All in all, THANK YOU for making this SO much easier to understand.
Thanks for giving such a clear and well illustrated demonstration of this idea. Most I've seen before have had dozens of shapes, but your use of just a handful, and your concise explanation, have finally got it through to me. Cheers!
So happy you explained what you were doing and how you did it. All the other videos I looked up on this were just video and some music with no explanation of how it works and why.
I had a prob in AI CC 2018 (mac) where the smart guides don't show. I toggled command-U and that got them working again, in case there's anyone out there reading this who's experiencing the same bug. Great tutorials!
this is THE most helpful illustrator video I ever watched and believe me I ve watched a LOT!! thanks for having no annoying music and for being quick
Amazing tutorial thank you so much!! Love your stuff a lot and you made it really easy to follow and comprehensive.
Very good to see you again, you're a Legend and an Inspiration to me. I've been watching your videos since 2007, before KZread had HD videos. Hope all is well with you and the family.
Thank you so much for this tut, really useful easy to set up the golden ratio in order to use in the future, exactly what i was looking for.
I feel like I never knew how to use illustrator after watching this haha. SOOOOOO useful thank you !
This tutorial is what exactly I need. Thank you very much!
I'd heard alot about the Golden ratio but didn't quite know how to apply it. One tutvid tutorial after and I'm ready to save the world with the golden ratio. Thank you.
That's a great concept to know. Thank you so much for the demo!
Hey thank-you for this tutorial. One question why do you prefer shaper tool instead of shape builder tool?

the most useful video on desing and composition I saw recently. thank you very much!
now that's a nice tutorial, thank you for that, i can't wait to try it myself
Amazing video! Finally, I understand the Golden Ratio in design! Thanks!
This is soooo cool. I just found your page. I am a 20 year long construction worker and site developer with a recent shattered ankle and broken back. I begin my second quarter tomorrow as a graphic designer with very little computer experience but tons of experience with sacred geometry. I want my designs to have more meaning and designed like nature. The Golden Ratio is crucial. Love the vid.

Honestly, I wish I could like this more than once! excellent.
absolutely stunnig explanation of the most wonderful number!!! thank you!
You're the one that I chose to learn about design with Golden Ratio and I'm not disappointed at all, now I have understood how it works and I will design my first icons for a school project. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us

Thank you so much for explaining! It’s so helpful to me!
Wonderful, wonderful work. I'm a beginner in this area and this is really helpful to me.
Laconic, simple and affordable. *Thank you very much!*
Loved it. Heard of the golden ratio and Fibonacci sequence, but had no idea how to put them to practical use. Additionally, not that great at math, and having knowledge of the math feature as well as the correct numbers, wow! Made my day. Now, seven years later, just need to get the courage to believe I can still create. Thank you. I'll be watching this several times.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. Really useful easy to set up the golden ratio
finally i understand what golden ratio is . perfect tutorial
Hey so much great knowledge in here, thank you! Love the way you repeat things that are important in case someone keeps messing up. "...and that fits nicely in there, because of our smart guides from earlier"
Love your content. I've learned a lot. Keep it up
The most comprehensive golden ratio tutorial i´ve ever seen. In 10 minutes i´ve learned more than in a couple years on this matter. Thank you.
That's one stellar-quality video... Thank you :) Great work :)
For speed I would record two actions one for divide by 1.618 and a second for plus by 1.618. Set the action pallet to button mode then it’s a one click process.

One of the best tutorials on KZread. I’m new to Illustrator and your tutorial helped me understand these tools better and that golden ratio technique is awesome. I’m going to use it in designing my logo. Cheers!
The golden tutorial I found on KZread. Thank you for this.
What a great teacher you are ⚔️
Such a great tutorial! thank you...
First time seeing a tutorial video with the light theme 😮. Nice tutorial

Great Tutorial - looking forward to trying it out myself
He's literally so amazing.
Great video! I appreciate the balance you strike in your explanations between simple enough to understand but still highly informative. There are definitely aspects of this tutorial that I can see myself incorporating into my own work. Well done sir! 👌

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Dude, seriously awesome.
Hi, many many thanks for all your work. I find this to be soooo rewarding to learn, be it Ae, Ps, Ai, Pr. You're presenting it so well, I love how you're talking really fast. One thing I didnt get is why we're expanding the shaper group??
Excellent tutorial! Thank you.
I've spent my life with Geometry and ø. Huge universe. You probably know that the circle can be divided into two arcs of the Ø ratio. This creates a lot of cool relationships. Thanks for the video and akso the magnifying glass that pinpoints what you are doing and where you are doing it from.
Thanks for the tutorial. but for that 1.618 thing, I'd like to use scale tool and press ALT -> 100%/1.618 -> copy, then press Ctrl + D whatever times you want.

Thanks for the lesson, I think this is the best way to learn. When i was in college we never put this in practice. The teachers generally just explain the fibonacci theory but they never told us how the hell use it.

Do not use tutorials or videos to apply Fibonacci's theory in your designs. You only need to understand the Math. 2-3-5 is Fibonacci aka Golden Ratio. If it is applied on shape's size, length, or color, is on you. A well-balanced graphic or logo has nothing to do with the above explanation.
Fantastic! Fantastic! Fantastic! Thank you!
once again! great stuff
Excellent video, man. Thanks.

An interesting design: take the layers and align them vertically. I inadvertently discovered this while experimenting with my layers. It makes a nice art deco piece.
