Dorothea Taylor is amazing. She started playing at 13, and over 58 years (and a successful career) later, it's still her passion. What she said is true, don't judge a book by its cover. Just because she's older doesn't mean she hasn't had, and continues to live, a fantastic and interesting life

This lady has short drumming instructional videos on TikTok. She was one of the first people I followed on there. I love how she has this extremely no nonsense manner to her. Not a hair flinches when she speaks or drums.

Here's the thing. She's simplifying the double bass on the very beginning where she starts playing. She's playing very well at what she does, but she's simplifying. I was able to learn the actual double bass part 7 months into starting learning drums. She's good at what she does, but she's not super advanced. HOWEVER, she was a big inspiration to me (a woman) to pick up drum sticks in my 50s. First song I learned end-to-end was Down With the Sickness. I love Disturbed, love the song, and would have eventually learned it, but she was my inspiration for me to learn it as my first song.

This is a testament to the true nature of music. To have fun and express oneself. Doesn't matter how many notes you throw down. Love the reactions fellas!

If you listen to the drums on the song, Dorothea is locked in and sounds like the drums on the recording.

What people seem to miss is that she quite effortlessly performed the orginal drum track note for note exactly the same. I have listened to the original about a thousand times, it was the exact same. But she did it so effortlessly.

Look, a kit may not be her forte, BUT she kills it on snare

Disturbed is always my favorite to play drums to on Rockband. 😄 I'm not this good though, and not really a drummer, but I am a math nerd. 😂 Never thought of it this way, but I agree with Dre, it's 60/40. 🤩

I dont think the shocker here is that an older lady can play drums well. I think the shocker is her choice of music.. love it! lol

You should check out Tim Minchin 9 Life Lessons speech at his graduation. It is actually rather deep and serious as opposed to any of his comedy and songs

I would love to see you guys react to a female lead rock/metal band. If I can offer a suggestion, check out “In This Moment”. Oh Lord is a good song, lyrics would be good. Adrenaline me is good, but might be a little much. “Big Bad Wolf” is great too, lyrics are pretty gnarly 🤙🏼. You guys are great!

There's a video of her and her other older females doing a drum line. I'm guessing she played as a hobby or in high school or something.

This is a fun video, but it just doesn’t show off what she can do until very late in the song with the time changes. While I get the point of throwing her a rock/metal song, she can kick the butt of much harder and more complicated songs than this.

She was influenced by Cream and Led Zeppelin. Don’t pigeonhole! Lol!
