I think her acting depicted a REAL teenage girl who could be a bit awkward at times. She really captured the essence of being naive and a girl of that time. It just looks wrong to some people because it didn’t fit the hyper sexualized portrayal of young girls in Hollywood at the time. Which makes sense since she was the daughter of the godfather and having her be more “sultry” would in a way mess up the respectability and high status dynamic. Wether her acting was intentional or not, the portrayal was genius.

Beautiful compilation!! It has me in my feelings. I think Sofia did a great job. I don't understand why everyone criticized her acting. I also think she is beautiful, and they made a beautiful couple. The chemistry is definitely there. (Yes, I know they were cousins.) It would be hell not to be able to be with one you love. I really wanted to see them end up getting married. It is so tragic because of the way it ended. She died heartbroken, and so did he. 😢

But they wanted Winona Ryder and she got sick (exhausted after many films on a row) so F.F.Coppola suggested Sophia' s name. She wasn't a newcomer already.

I've never been able to get past the idea that these two are first cousins (If Vincent is Sonny's son).
