They could be reading glasses? Like if Miranda is switching from close up work at her desk to looking at an assistant a yard or two away from her It seems unlikely that’d be the case every time but perhaps for some characters

It's a nervous tick, some of us just mess with our glasses more as a way of releasing an excess of stress and anxiety, or even just discomfort. I'll tap at my glasses or go to move them if I'm getting anxious even if they're not on it's such a compulsive habit. 🤷‍♀️

I have prescription glasses, but relatively fine vision. Whether I’m upset or not, details at a distance aren’t important enough for me to have to have my glasses on all the time. I’m constantly putting on and taking of my glasses, so to me at least, it is a hyper ordinary thing to do

This made me realize I don't use my glasses nearly enough to get my points across.

God I loved the Iron Lady and the hours of course. …and just Meryl steep in general is a fav. I once heard someone say when she walks on set she sets the mood or sets the energy for the day. And I wish I had this amount of command.
