That’s true. A couple of movies or shows have that premise. One such example is Mary Jane Watson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films. She wanted to be an actress and light up Broadway.

That why I’ve always felt like maybe a good ending for the series would’ve been if they had Penny getting an acting gig on a show exactly like the Big Bang Theory. And she brings her friends in as nerd consultants. Would’ve been breaking the fourth wall, and very on the nose, but it’s just an idea.

@@Kayoss13212 There was an episode where Raj met an attractive female sci-fi writer at the comic store who wanted him to consult on her writing. However, I think it was just to drive conflict as Raj had a girlfriend at the time.

I mean is there really such a thing as a good horror movie that isn’t scary (I hope I said that right)

Their characters recognize Penny as an actress but the characters themselves fail to recognize Amy as Blossom though in a different episode pre Amy they said they should've gotten the girl who played blossom, they watched the walking dead but neither Leonard nor Sheldon acknowledged that Steven Yeun aka Glenn played his former roomate, they also mentioned the good wife without recognizing that Leonards mom played on the good wife, or that Sheldon's dad was Leonard's bully

Johnny Galecki (Leonard) also had a bit-part in Blossom early in his career but they don't mention that either. These are references for us the audience to spot and get nerdy about but we suspend disbelief for the duration of the show. A bit like Amy's father being enthralled by Howard's simple magic tricks when he is played by one of the most famous magicians in the world. Of course as a fan of magic Howard would know who Penn and Teller are but it would kind of ruin the fun if Howard were to point it out

When Leonard and Leslie Winkler were a thing, I hoped for a joke about her family, maybe mention that her mom was something of a domestic godess. Anything. Since they were both cast members of Roseanne for so long.
