The Girl From Ipanema - How to Play

Felipe Coelho gives a simple instructional on how to play "The Girl from Ipanema", both just accompaniment as well as solo chord-melody. This is a courtesy of the Secrets of Brazilian Guitar Complete Course: www.secretsofbrazilianguitar.club.hotmart.com
I'll teach rhythms to bass lines, melodies, harmonic analysis and especially the right hand techniques to execute styles like samba, partido alto, choro, afoxé and many others.

Loving how you break down the chord tones and theory. Much better than just fingers and frets.

This is the most precise and easy to understand about playing "Girl from Ipanema" Bravo. You defined the co-relation between each melody behind each chord. Your intuition in music are instinct and inborn qualities. Not everyone can teach that way.

How I wish I understood the fretboard and chord voicings like you do; great stuff. I had a teacher in grad school named Coelho. What are the 2 extra strings on your guitar? Are the 6 in the middle the same as a "regular" guitar?

When teaching chord voicings especially on an eight string guitar a diagram is called for. It would be helpful and that's the objective of this lesson, to be helpful. Otherwise great tutorial.

It’s super common for Brazilian music, especially Choro, to use 7 strings guitar and not have a bass player. Lowest string covers that range.

Waaaaaay too much chatter. Just shut and play with accompanying chord diagrams, for Christ's sake! Period. This is what guitar players express that want time and time again. Not looking for a degree in theory or chord chemistry.
