What a wonderful movie. Brought back memories of good movies that didn't have sex, foul language, nudity and killing in them. In those days the writers had to actually think and use their wholesome imagination to create anything except blood and guts movies.

I love the freedom these boys had. This was just like when my two sons, now 42 and 45, grew up. They spent their days playing out doors, riding their bikes and enjoying their freedom. As long as they were home by meal time they were fine. No cell pones, no video games just freedom to be boy and be outside.

Did you ever think this is why small towns still exist? I really hate the large populations, 5000 or less is what is ideal. Problem with the small towns is there is not a good food supply so people end up driving to the city to buy foods.

This would STILL make a great series! I loved it! No nudity, no bad language, no violence and yet still QUITE entertaining! I just don't LIKE seeing naked people cussing in a movie, or those packed with violence. I believe half our social ills stem from having watched too much of that kinda thing. It's not bad but it's certainly NOT good either.

Just finished watching this excellent little movie. Ran through it twice as I missed some parts in the first watch. It was so refreshing to watch a movie that excluded all the violence that now pervades most of the movies on offer. Took me back to a time in the 1970s where this type of clean movie was the norm. Left me feeling relaxed and reflective. My thanks to its writer and producers.

I, too, remember the days when I was free to come and go as my curiosity and desire for another adventure would lead me out the front door. Just a few basic rules, be home by dark, shower before bedtime, up and dressed in time for school or church, always make sure your chores were done...and the rest we just made up as we went along. At the age of only 7 or 8, we would ride our sting ray bikes several miles down along the freeway frontage road to a couple of ponds and fish and raft for hours in the warm, summer sun. Now that I am in my 60's, I have pretty much held on to those free-range impulses of making up my life as I felt. But society, in general, has always inflicted certain prescribed penalties for the free spirited, rebellious souls, who refuse to bow down to authority figures...just because that's what they demanded. Pooy The school of trial and error, along with all of the bruises and scrapes and failures in life, has always been the directing force guiding my life. Been in the logging industry for 12 years, contractor for 30+ years, holistic, regenerative gardening for nutrient-dense based, food production.

A Soldier, Me? “A soldier, me? My Lord,” said he, “my strength is very small.” “My child, it’s not your strength I ask I only ask your all.” “A soldier, me? My Lord,” said she, “I have no sword to shine.” “My child, your sword would never do, so I will give you mine.” “A soldier, me? My Lord,” said he, “No shield have I to hold.” “My child, behind the shield of faith in Me you will be bold.” “A soldier, me? My Lord,” said she, “What cause shall I defend?” “My child, the message of my Son, His coming and the end.” “A soldier, me? My Lord,” said he, “I’ll do as You command!” “My child, the only thing I ask is that you hold my hand." "The changed cross"is a poem that tells of a weary woman who thought that the cross she must bear surely was heavier than those of other people,so she wished she could choose another persons' instead. When she went to sleep, she dreamed she was taken to a place where there were many different crosses from which to choose. There were various shapes and sizes, but the most beautiful one was covered with jewels and gold."This I could wear with comfort,"she said.So she picked it up,but her weak body staggered beneath its' weight. The gold and jewels were beautiful, yet they were much too heavy for her to carry. The next cross she noticed was quite lovely, with beautiful flowers entwined around its' sculptered form.Surely this was the one for her.She lifted it,but beneath the flowers were large thorns that pierced and tore her skin. Finally she came to a plain cross without jewels or any carvings and with only a few words of love inscribed on it.When she picked it up,it proved to be better than all the rest, and the easiest to carry. And as she looked at it,she noticed it was bathed in a radiance that fell from heaven. Then she recognized it as her own old cross. She had found it once again, and it was the best of all,and thelightest for her. You see,God knows best what cross we need to bear, and we never know how heavy someone elses cross may be.We envy someone who is rich, with a cross of gold adorned with jewels, but we do not know how heavy it is.We look at someone whose life seems so easy and who carries a cross covered with flowers.Yet if we could actually test all the crosses we think are lighter than ours,we would never find one better suited for us than our own.

I enjoyed this movie. Thank you for sharing this movie on KZread. I do believe some people do have a gift . I don't know anyone who has the gift like this. In my life, I have felt that something was happening or going to happen and it did . PS I remember when I could run the roads as a child ride my bicycle all day. My little sister Bon Bon and friend would put on plays on the dock at Cone Mills it was our stage. We had a great time. Then, I went to the country to see my cousin playing outside all day. I miss those days. I lived in the country when my little girl was young so she did get to play outside and have fun. I wish my grandson Levi could play outside like that. Now days we are afraid for them to step outside our front door in the font yard. 😢

I was born in 1968. My mom used to tell me how horrible it would be in the hospital after you delivered. In the room there was a row of beds that you were put on. The bad part is that you would be put in this row regardless of your circumstance. Meaning like when she was there was a lady who had lost her baby. So this poor woman was in the row where everyone else had their babies coming in and to be fed, held, and shown to family. Meanwhile the poor lady had to just lay there hearing all this from a bunch of new moms and she herself had no baby. My mom felt so bad. Nowadays, women who have problems are put with the c-section women so that don’t hear everyone giving birth. And they are given a private room. Of course nowadays, hospitals only put about 2 people in a room. Slowly hospitals are changing over to all private rooms for all patients but it’s going to come slowly. Only as new hospitals open or expand. They are doing it for privacy issues.

This was a good and enjoyable film.. There was no way they could extend the story to include a reunion. It was obviously a pilot created for what the producers hoped would be a series. I wish it had been picked up; good characters and story premise. I would have enjoyed watching it weekly. Oh well, Hollywood produces far more pilots than series.

I saw this movie when I was a kid. I've been wanting to remember what it was, but all I could remember was the two boys in the water zapping the bullies and Elton John's Crocodile Rock playing. That's all I had to go with and I researched the Hell out of it and couldn't come up with anything. Then I saw a video about the movie Blind Fury and was like, "THAT'S THE KID!!!" Researched that kid and boom...finally put this splinter in my brain to rest.

  • @ronaldmcreynolds7345

I was free range. After school or all during a weekend, my parents generally didn't know where my brothers and I were. It was the same for all the kids I knew and where ever I was, there were most of the rest of the free roaming kids on the block or the area. Sometimes my parents saw me as I ran around, or they called the neighbors to find out, 'where are the kids'. It wasn't they were worried, but maybe lunch was coming, or dinner, or they had decided to take the family to dinner or movie and needed us to come get cleaned up. Usually parents were all patient and just saw us as we came and went to get something, drink out of the garden hose, find a bandage for the latest scrape, ask a question, etc. As kids, we knew some rules for behavior, like if it was needing parental attention, that is, ask for permission. Mother's most often mentioned rule was, 'Don't track dirt in the house', followed by 'Don't sit on the couch till you clean up.' It was a great life. Leaning was by doing, sometimes painful, but just part of the discover process that life is all about. No helmets, kneepads, elbow pads, legalities, seat belts, backpacks, sunscreen, reflective clothing, etc. Clothing was optional depending on situation. Sometimes we kids got in fights. Parents would usually listen to the story and give a bit of advice, or if actually concerned, talk to the other parents across the street or down the block. That often ended up becoming a cookout and domino game while the same kids who had a fight played again. More of those life lessons about how to get along learned from a punched nose or bruise. Absolutely no police needed. It was the process of learning to be nice and the pecking order. It was all good and getting punched in the nose is not a bad thing. At any rate, you were more likely to break an arm anyway jumping off something or crashing your bike into something. Just kid stuff.
