The Ghostface Killah Interview

Ойын-сауық

Ghostface Killah is one of the original 9 Wu Tang Clan members and in my opinion he has remained perhaps the most ferocious and inventive out of the entire group throughout their 25 year career. I was beyond excited to get him on the podcast. I still can't really believe it happened. Thanks so much to Ghost for coming on and Gustavo Guerra for setting it up. Wu Tang Forever.

Deep chills when he brought up the fact that they (the Wu) made intelligence cool... because that is exactly what they did! Especially like GZA and shit. They inspired the streets to wanna be academic! To pick up books and expand your vocabulary to the deepest level. That was some amazing shit. Hip Hop was really onto something at that point in time.

filthysock That is a major reason why they resonated so heavily with me as a teen. They were intelligent, esoteric, curious and highly imaginative... aka “nerdy.” Since they rolled so deep they had an assortment of interesting characters and they combined the creativity and knowledge with they’re real street experiences and intensity. They were all feeding off one another and radiating with serious confidence. Shit is potent.

It took me a while to appreciate his style and the effortless dense intricate complexity multi flows in his stories that after 100 spins you'll still catch something you missed. That factor probably led him to eventually become my favorite Rapper of all time. So grateful to have the massive catalog of consistently great Ghost albums available. That Sour Soul album brought him to another level imo, nobody has made their best album 19 years into their career and he's still poppin and healthy and got his mind right. I appreciate his gift and hard work.

I think I own just about every piece of work he blessed. Including, the book "The World According To Pretty Toney" with the audio disc. I love the Ghost/Rae combos, but I am still waiting for the long awaited return of Ghost/Doom presentation, a la "Los Angels."
