(excuse my english, I'm from SEA) I read something from another comment section about genshin having Cai Haoyu as the producer thats infamous back when hi3 had the same dude. Apparently, when he was in charge of hi3 from 2014 to 2017, hi3 had the most dogshit rewards. Things has changed since he stepped down to lead genshin as it's producer. both hi3 and hsr is lead by david jiang now, hence why generosity is felt

W take I also just wanted to leave a comment Apparently, the CEO Cai Haoyu. used to have control in Honkai impact, which didn’t do great for the players at the start of the game, like Genshin. But once he decided to step down and let someone else take control, Honkai has been doing great. And Cai Haoyu is in charge of Genshin apparently. He has a nasty rep, which is probably why genshin is so bad. I kind of just wanted to say that or add cause I found it fascinating. Yeah, Cai Haoyu is a fascinating guy. From what I heard, dude's a wunderkind to begin with, made local newspapers for his intellect as a teen, and was the technical geek in Mihoyo's original triumvirate. Doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that would listen to those who he see as mere mortals.

Dude has been the tech lead and if wasn't for his insistence, there wouldn't be a fully 3D Honkai Impact 3rd, let alone the open world Genshin Impact. He's a great tech lead, but can be stingy and uncaring when it comes to the daily operation of the game. It would be nice if Hoyoverse just let him be the tech lead and not the man running the whole circus. Also, I think he has stepped down as the CEO last winter, so there's that.

Facts. The devs really tested how far they could get away with exploiting their impressionable playerbase.

I am still a bit worried because according to the news, hoyo has responded to the CN community that they will adjust the reward and fix communitcation. But so far there is no proof of screenshot about this. I am also worried those "fix" will simply in China, but none in global since we heard nothing. I actually expect the global to have more uproar, since CCs also voicing this problem. But most genshin's social media accounts I see barely have people protesting

NGL the white knights of Genshin might quit WW day 2 cos they look like players with skill issues. Cos for one, these same players dont want end game content. Remember when they even nerfed Childe boss fight when it wasnt even that hard?

You did an excellent job again. The more this is talked about, the better our chances for a change to occur. I've seen a lot of skepticism and pessimism from the Global community, and well it has its reasons for being like that. Most of our cries for help have been ignored and it wasn't until now when the CN bros FINALLY understood our complaints. To be honest, I'm still worried about what type of compensation we'll receive. But no matter what we get, I am hopeful that this kerfuffle will help Hoyo realise that Cai Haoyu really sucks balls as a game producer.

I'm not just hoping for rewards, I'm hoping for change man. This game needs change. I'm tired of the same events, same abyss, same endgame and daily content. I'm not even a hardcore player, but they have all of this map, all these areas, like when will we get another Enkanomiya event? Another Chasm event? Hell, A Sangonomiya event? I just don't want this game's potential to go to waste just because of greed, I would absolutely hate that.

Its crazy that, had they just stopped at the usual rewards we had the last 2 years, nobody would have cared. But them going: "As thanks for supporting us the last 3 years, making us millions and the biggest gacha games in history, we will send every player 3 free fates through the mailbox, effectivly 2.8% of a limited 5star, you are so welcome", Its like them rubbing shit into our wounds and expecting us to thank them for it. And on top of that the PS5 skin bundle for china just broke it all.....hoyo doesnt care and never has, else why would we still have 160 resin cap such that you have to login twice to not overcap on resin. Its a joke that simple quality of life improvements still arent here...expedition rewards took them 3 years to make claim all. Its not about the rewards.. The GAME needs to CHANGE. I dont want the community to be silenced by 20 wishes or whatever. The game itself NEEDS TO CHANGE. Better QoL, Epitomized path for standard 5 stars, ACTUAL ENDGAME CONTENT. Wuthering waves is around the corner, Genshins own anniversary is coming in a few months, eventually they should introduce triple banners, and lets not forget HSR'S ANNIVERSARY. There are so many things this year that could put a tomb on Genshin impact and its all thanks to their own management and genshin team. Genshin is its own killer.

i feel like you put eveything really well. The Genshin community uniting against the bullshit is always peak. Hsr is treated better in every way and has been incredible to its players. Unfortunately similar to how you feel about it, I like furina and open world+open world combat and I am not a big fan of turn based. Hoyo has to be better

I think the difference in generosity between genshin vs the two honkais (impact & star) is not quite a favorite child thing, it all comes down to them having two different main producers. The producer for honkai impact and star rail is david, while genshins' cai haoyu, and while honkai impact was under cai's watch, the rewards, gacha and quality of life there were terrible too. For example tears of themis is not a honkai and that game is pretty generous too.

It's not the first time someone on youtube keeps telling me this, and all I can think of is that Genshin is yall's baby first gacha. Just look at Granblue Fantasy, an anime gacha game that is also free, but is known for having LOTS of free pulls. Or Idolmaster franchise games in general, not all of them are free, some are paid, some aren't. But the free mobile games tends to be super generous in new years and anniversaries, giving skins to all characters, and Mirishita, during the anni week, would give 10 pulls PER DAY. FOR A WHOLE WEEK!! Why can't Genshin learn from games like that?! It's not just about "getting free shit" it's about showing gratitude to the players. But they clearly don't have any gratitude left for us anymore, they've taken us for granted. Cai Haoyu doesn't care about you, he just sees you as a chive to be harvested.

Genshin is not a gatcha, it has a gatcha in game, yet you can play the game being a F2P, because the game is a F2P, and the gatcha element is just there, with your free primos you can get enough usefull 5 stars, if you want or play the game with the base characters you are perfectly able, because the game is far better than its gatch, unlike all the gatcha you mentionet and all the gatcha you never came to knew their existance because they are already gone, exactly 'cause the gatcha was more important than the gamepla, or worse it was the gameplay. So keep bitching about no getting free stuff, . You know what will happen if they start to give you free shit? You all will never stop craving for more, so is better that the game stays as it is. For me, I will roll for Xianyun in my F2P account with more than 10 5 stars

While I agree that GI is unnecessarily stingy, you can't just simply compare the amount of rewards from one game to another without contextualizing it. In HSR you're encouraged to get and build many more characters than in GI due to how important elemental weakness coverage is, especially in the endgame. That being said, something more exciting than same old dozen of wishes, a low effort skin and a 4-star selector would be great to have, and, much more importantly, their attitude needs to change. Don't think it will tho.

I do think they improved on a lot of things last year: open world, Fontaine's story, character gameplay, new underwater mechanics, and character designs. Sumeru killed my passion for this game for a bit. I hated the story and how many walls of text it gave me. I wasn't really interested in Sumeru's characters either, and most of them didn't have fun kits. The exploration was also just the worst, I am STILL exploring the desert and I hate every minute of it. It's just my least favourite part of the map. The Aranara quest was also annoying, tho the mushroom people were really cute. So for me, Fontaine was a huge upgrade and is what brought me back into the game. So I do wanna recognize that the game did improve a lot since Sumeru, and certain character/open world isn't the only thing keeping Genshin alive. I still think the game is fun. But that being sad, the game has always been stingy af. I've been playing for 3 years and I still can't get Qiqi from the standard banner or losing 50/50. I don't think I'm asking for a lot here lol

It took me years to get qiqi, who is the reason I even started playing! I finally have her but my passion has filled and every year I'm more and more disappointed. I am choosing to quit the game until something hopefully changes, but good luck on your journey in teyvat!!

@@alicedodobirb2808 thank you haha. I realized it's good to take breaks from Genshin after I left for a few months because of Sumeru. I don't think it's just possible to be excited over one game constantly for years, no matter how good it is. We'll get tired of it. I left Genshin and played other games for a bit. Came back, and was excited again to explore + my characters didn't go anywhere. Also I find that the game is more enjoyable when you're behind in quests and exploration, because you never really hit the lack of content wall.

Can't imagine what nonsense you say when full price unnfinished AAA games don't even give patches to make theiir scams playable. I have actually decided to stop playing Genshin daily a few days before the livestream came out (day 1 player, have barely missed a day of playing) and decided to just login once a week instead after my current welkin ends in 10 days. Imagine my reaction when the drama started, it just added another reason for me to slow down playing genshin even more. I have started playing Honkai Star Rail instead this week and i've been having a blast (except when i lost my kafka 50/50 to yanqing), the game is fun, the MC has a lot of voice lines, there is no yappaimon yapping constantly, the dailies are done in Auto mode in less than 3 minutes, the story is less bloated and the gameplay is fun, not to mention Dr. Ratio is pretty strong. I can only hope Genshin gets off it's lazy bum and starts bringing some change, because i just can't be bothered to care about it anymore and i can declare that it doesn't deserve the money i've dropped on it for welkins and BPs for these 3 years because of how they treat the playerbase.

Agreed. I'm pessimistic, I think that this riot will not change anything... At least not immediately. Let me explain. They will probably get away with a bunch of multis worth of compensation this time, because as long as they have an addicted and loyal playerbase they will not make any meaningful change to the game. The only thing that Genshin has going for its popularity, right now, is the open world. Other gacha games, while not as popular, are just better games than Genshin overall, let's be honest. If we get a videogame that finally challenges Genshin in the open world niche (cough Wuthering Waves cough) and that has an actual good development team (cough Kuro Games cough), then HoYoVerse will be forced to improve Genshin, there is just no way they will not do so. If you are faced with competition and you lose your clients, then you must improve your product.

Except that FGO, Summoner's War and Epic Seven didn't change a bit after HSR released and earned more than all 3 combined. Competition won't do much to a game that's already had years to establish itself. Genshin has a good dev team, that's evident through the gradual improvement in exploration, story and recent QoL (claim-all expeditions, daily commission system change, etc.), so the Genshin team isn't going to be killing Genshin themselves anytime soon. The main things Genshin has going for it are the 6-week update schedule, the addition of a new explorable area every 2 patches, interesting world, story, characters and its casual focus. Most people who play Genshin don't really value rewards and endgame as much as those main things. Time will tell if Wuthering Waves can match these things with their smaller budget and team size. Look at Kuro Games' previous game, PGR, it didn't cause HI3 to change at all. If anything, PGR started to become more like HI3 instead, especially with how dupes became more impactful and newer characters got more i-frames. It's probably better not to hype up Wuthering Waves as a Genshin Killer or Competitor, as it will only damage the reputation of its fanbase and set a rather unrealistic expectation of being able to go toe-to-toe with a 3.5 year old game.

The exploration has gotten worse if you ask me, the story is overrated as f and the recent QoL are complete garbage. The Genshin team has amply demonstated they can screw up Genshin themselves with just three wishes. 🤣 Also, I can argue that "the main things Genshin had going for it" are terrible. "Most people who play Genshin don't value rewards", yeah in fact these players are idiots. The devs treat them worse than dogs and they are ok with it. Lastly, saying that Wuthering Waves is competition is legit true. You understand that Genshin, even with 3 and a half years on the shoulders, is terrible when an unfinished product is looking better than it. And I'm not kidding, Wuthering Waves has better combat, the characters designs look incredible, the open world is stunning, the devs listen to the players and they are actually improving the game based of their feedback. To summarize, competition will go a long way to change Genshin, especially when it's looking so good like Wuthering Waves.

I stopped HSR 1.3 when I didnt get Fu Xuan even tho I skipped 2 updates for her. The more i looked in to HSR after I'm that i realozed i really didnt like many characters in HSR design or personality wise. I like Sampo,Fu Xuan,Qingque, and Tingyun(ig trailblazer)but thats kinda it. I did all of Belebog shit and loved but i just COULD NOT get into the story much and stopped at Kafka boss. I just feel so disconnected with HSR even with the 4* story quest(still waiting on Xingqiu SQ art 2????)

I feel like ever since 2, every version had a part that was more controversial than the rest. For version 2, it was version 2.1, I don't think I need to explain why. For version 3, i'd say it was probably version 3.5 due to the controversay with Dehya. And now I think we're at the most controversial verion 4 part with 4.4.

Which one do you think you need more? Yae Miko is okay but she's really good when you got some Dendro characters. Just decide whether you want to start doing some Aggravate teams or you want to buff your Xiao

@YelanSlave-Tao Xioa has been on the bench for a while since I use wanderer but it's deff tempting to get cloud retainer. I main Alheitham, Ayato, Ayaka and Yoamia/Lynay. Miko would be good on AL, Nahida, Miko and Kokomi. Again tough ha. I'll have to wait a week or two after people use cloud

No they don’t deserve it, at least not the anger, although idc about the review bombs tbh. Not everyone in hoyoverse makes these decisions, it’s not a hivemind, it’s likely that some decision up the chain is why they can’t give out rewards, and furthermore, Genshin never made promises in this regard. Calling is “mistreatment” feels like such a reach when everything in genshin is free except skins and banner items. Lantern rite is happening, which is an event that has rewards and is free, and yet players hyper focus on how HSR is getting way more free stuff like they’re entitled to it. Don’t get me wrong, I want everything in the game for free, but this just seems so petty, especially when people act like there’s a moral obligation for hoyoverse to give them the stuff they want. Like being disappointed about the rewards is one thing, but acting entitled to them is another. There’s plenty to criticize about the structure of genshin, it’s a gatcha and therefore inherently predatory, and it has flawed systems, but them not giving out free stuff and being bad at PR is such a non-issue in comparison. Especially with the outrage flavor of reaction, where people actually think Hoyoverse employees deserve bad things happening to them. If you want free things, I get it, I do too, but the types of reactions I’m seeing are in the line of genuine outrage.

I really want to complain about genshin but what said is already said at this point But I’ll keep spreading the WuWa hype. If it can succeed we have an actual good game for mobile player to play and if can take the Gi players who want a open world and good challenge or endgame then they can finally move to another gacha game and if that can effect the revenue then genshi has to finally compete

ya'know sometimes I see new characters getting released for genshin, like navia, and I think that maybe I shouldn't have stopped playing. But then I remember how stingy the devs are and I remember why one month of playing blue archive was enough for me to delete a game I've been playing since launch.
