Hi Tod I have been watching your videos quita a while"describing Sir Moe Normans Golf Swing. it is so effortless and love watching it day in day out. in fact, being pro myself, I have tried Moes methodology , by applying the same technique it is so fluid and loved. I might work on it more in order to introduce this type of swing compared to other which are made so complicated. Manzoor Golf prof from India. Hope to hear from you as well

I have been hitting golf balls for more than two decades, and I have come to realize that the lead side of swing is more important and more dictating than the back side. The back side refers to the portion of the swing before coming to impact the ball, and lead side of swing is the portion after the ball impact position😊

It’s basic physics & the laws of motion. Think of pulling a trailer, pushing a bicycle or really anything like that. Trying to push from the back is super unstable and the slightest deviation will throw it off course and it’ll veer sideways but pulling you can make any turns you want and it’ll just follow perfectly. The hands/sides in the golf swing work just the same. Lead hand controls everything, trail hand adds speed and extra stability.

What about after impact? Does the plane go to the left? When I try to get my hands down the line I get a crazy push?

A push has more to do with an open face, the ball is essentially going to start on whatever line the clubface is aimed at impact and the swing path in relation to the faces aim causes the shape. “The new laws of ball flight”. Sound like in an attempt to swing the club down the target line you’re inadvertently holding the face open a bit.

Hi Graves, Could you mencion how important was the Lie of the Club for Moe? Do you think that the club should be a little upright to get a good set up of the club? Thanks

It’s individual for every player. Your arm length, hight, swing characteristics, flight patterns, tendencies, etc all play a part. What’s important is the clubs lie angle is bent so it is near level at impact for your swing. Even 2 players with almost identical swings can need different lie angles.

Norman mentions in a “ private video “ on another channel. That he changed his swing and “took the hands” out of it and was hitting ball 30yrds longer Any thoughts on this

I know another instructor that worked with Moe and "Natural Golf" he says point blank Moe could not tell you what he did one swing to the next. Moe's swing was Moe's swing and worked perfect for him and any day of the week Moe would tell you something different as far as what made his swing work. The best one was Moe always stood strong on his swing being a Pendulum swing even when you showed him a film of him and showed him turning. Todd Graves clearly knows more of how Moe Normans swing worked than Moe ever knew. Todd Graves gives you a swing that even when you mess it up you can find again even in as little as one swing during a round because you have a model to follow not just fixes in your swing.

Maybe you should mention, that when the club hits the ball, the bend in the shaft brings the clubhead to its normal loft position!

Assuming proper lie angles for your swings it will bend to “normal”. I mean it’ll always bend flatter than address but that doesn’t mean just because the toe is up at address the clubs lie angle is correct for the individual player.

I do love Mo. but Mike Austin is the bomb.

Maintaining the lead side address throughout the swing as you just portrayed. You will lose tons of energy. Also that will take you out of “swing center circle” as Mike Austin “ longest driver in regulation world record” says. It is a oblique plan. With three plans. Very simply done as a women walks. That easy.
