    @@Chrissli3 yeah my buddy and I were on a ski tour a few years ago (before I upgraded/updated a bunch of kit) and decided to try and do a rough total of how much the gear with us cost, and it came out to about 6-7 grand (USD) per person. Haha. The wallet might hurt but the spirit is free!

    @d darko To be fair, most people don't even have skis or boots. Or poles. Or any ski and snow gear actually. Hell, if you want to be decently comfortable in your clothing and insulation, you need to spend a pretty big chunk of cash.

    Excellent vid. I actually bought some Navis Freebirds with G3 Ion 10's, in part on your recommendation. The skis are spectacular, ridiculously killer in all condies. The bindings I'm less hot on; they released on me in an icy couloir last Tuesday. Prefer Dynafits from my old skis. Ski hard, cut carbon!

Also have the camox freebird with a light touring setup. Thinking so hard about the Animas! Have you used the marker alpinist 12 binding? If so, how do they compare to the G3s?

  • @carsonreid7133

    The Corvus Freebird is the best ski ever! I have it as my only pair and ride everything from resort to deep powder, airs (No spins, did 1 360 last year), corn, and steep scary AF variable snow jumpturns. They aren't the lightest but charge through variable snow and avy debris much better than my friends' lighter skis so I think it is worth it. Only downside is they have a thin base so you will inevitably coreshot the bright pink base and be sad. Overall 10/10 would recommend

    Hi Nikolai, as I have a shed load (well a few) Icebreaker merino base layers so I have't added to my extensive Norrona wardrobe with their merino baselayers. What I have found useful is from another Norwegian company Brynje's mesh baselayers. I have the wool ones for holiday when washing them isn't convenient and the superthermo vest for winter biking here in England. I use these under the normal merino baselayers and find that they help to prevent that clammy feeling when merino gets damp.

So from one Scandinavian to another - Besides the 2 x 250 G weight saving, are there any advantages to the G3, or is the weight the main reason to chose the G3 over the SHIFT when going for a DH oriented touring setup?

    Hey, I have notised that you often ride the combo of yellow jacket and green pants. Is this the Lofoten Goretex pro series? I’m looking for a combo that can rock both the resort and the backcountry here in Tromsø, but struggle to choose between the different series. I’ve been looking at both the pro and the pro light of lofoten, but also having an eye up for the Lyngen series. What would you choose if you only could have one set? Love your videos by the way! Big inspiration.

    Thanks! The camox is pretty sick actually. Had it in chamonix one winter, and took it out a few days that were unexpectedly deep, and they performed really well. It’s also a more fun ski than the atris when the snow is firm. Compared to the freebird they’re way more solid. You can charge on them. Which makes them a bit heavier of course

  • @Nikolai_Schirmer

    @Nikolai_Schirmer

    3 жыл бұрын

    Woho! Happy you enjoyed them. I use the helmet mount mostly, and I also mount it to my pole for followcams. The trick with the helmet mount is to get the camera as close to your eyes as possible without it interfering in your skiing, so I put it down far on my forehead (though still on the helmet of course). Makes for a better angle. I use superview or 4:3 to get the widest possible FOV, and protune with low or medium sharpness (if the light is really flat). No stabilization. 50fps/2.7k for slomo action (airs/pow), 25fps/4k for everything else. Flat color because I color correct in post, but if you're not doing that I would go for gopro color. :)

    Nice video, very indepth for the amount of gear you show! After getting touring/freeride skis last season just two days ago got my avalanche gear. After years of renting for a few days and hiking with snowshoes and the snowboard on the back i finally managed to get myself that. I'm actually done with ski areas afterlast year when i had to cue 2hrs each on the 2 days of skiing i got. How does your season probably look like this year? Especially since Norway, as far as i know, does have a travelban outside norway due to covid. Do you just do stuff in Lyngen, Lofoten and maybe Jontunheimen/Stavanger/Bergen area? I am curious because I have heard experienced backcountry skiers say things like "avalanche airbags are either the last thing you get or the thing you never get because you should never be skiing in an area where an avalanche might happen," but don't they happen even when you think they won't? seems like if you are wrong that could directly be a life or death situation.
