  • @Nikolai_Schirmer

    @Nikolai_Schirmer

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi there, I haven't actually skied the nomad, but from the specs they look fairly similar except the anima has a longer turning radius which should make them more stable. For the flex, rocker profile etc. I'm not sure. Depending on where you're based I would also check out the atris for a one quiver ski. It's a little narrower which makes them a tad more versatile. I talk about them here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z6hn27mmk6bRabQ.html

    So, it's been two days since the video was released but hopefully you'll catch this question. I am 1,94cm tall and right above 100kg so with backpack and such probably some where around the 110-115kg range when I go touring. My question is if you think a regular pin binding would ever work for me, I have been skiing with the kingpin 13 for about 6-7 years now, but I would like to go to a lighter binding on my next ski since I am approaching the end of my studies and I'll finally be able to justify purchasing more then one pair of skis when my income is better and storage space isn't as cramped. Any way, love the channel and keep up the good work!

    Hi there John! Ah that’s hard to say, as I can’t really speak from experience. I’m 85kg. But they do hold up for big airs where there’s a lot more force from me, so depending on how you ski I suppose they could work well. Maybe try a demo pair, or borrow someone’s setup for the day if that’s possible?

    I have bentchetlers mounted with Salomon shifts at recommended (2.9cm behind center) and I'm finding the mount point to be too far forward in deep snow as I'm used to -6 mounted skis. is it such a bad idea to remount them back a couple cm?

    Thank you Nikolai for this very useful information and congratulations on your fantastic skiing style! I have been using the Corvus for years, the first one, the all-pink one with a length of 196 and a width at the center of 107 (or 106, I don't remember at the moment). For me, it's a fantastic ski but it has only one flaw: in certain situations, I feel the tail of the ski is a bit too constrained and it bothers me a bit. So, two questions: 1) Does the Anima ski release the tail well (it looks very good when I watch you ski)? 2) What boots do you use that work well with your ION 12 bindings? Many thanks and a hug from Italy. Marco

  • @Nikolai_Schirmer

    @Nikolai_Schirmer

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Marco, Yes, the anima releases the tail really nicely. It feels consistent and predictable. Which is really necessary at high speeds. Right now I'm skiing on the hoji free 130, with an intuition tour wrap liner and custom molded soles from sidas. It works great. Also I actually switched from G3 to Dynafit now for bindings, and I'm now primarily on the Rotation 14, which has proved really trustworthy.

    Hei @Nikolai Schirmer! Been loving your vids, you're a true beast of a skier, huge inspiration, keep up the good work. I just ordered a pair of the new Atris and I want your opinion on that. I am 174 cm, 70 kg and I went for the 184 cm length, because of the 10 cm rocker profile. Now it's arrived and I'm a bit nervous about the length, I am pretty advanced I would say, but I haven't got this big of ski. I like going fast with big lines, but I don't want to sacrifice precise maneuverability in trees. I've ordered Shift bindings with it as I plan doing 70/30 resort/touring. Should I change it back to the 178 or just fuck it and send it with this beautiful pair? What would you say?

  • @Nikolai_Schirmer

    @Nikolai_Schirmer

    3 жыл бұрын

    Hi there, and thanks! Hard to say really. I'm just 2cm shorter than my atris skis, and it's the longest length, so I don't have any experience with longer lengths. I know Pierre Guyot from the team is pretty happy with them about 10cm longer than him though! And they are very manouverable. Hmm. Yeah. So kinda depends on whether you want that extra stability from the longer ski or not.

    hi nikolai, Could you please tell us in which terrain you personally prefer the anima 20/21 and where the atris? Background of my question: In your other video (The Gear I use) you compared the atris with the older version of the anima. There i totally knew - i go with the atris (next to my Navis), because better at playing in trees, smaller turns,.. Just waiting for the after-season sale. But now with the new atris with a smaller turning radius, i don't know which one to go with. My terrain: Couloir(beginner level), high speed, drops, hard underground, powder, but also sometimes in trees and a few piste km. 50% big mountain, 40% side country, 10% piste If other followers of Nikolai has a hint for me, I'm also grateful. Thanks a lot. Chris

    Any thoughts on the Corvus vs Corvus freebird? Is there a noticeable loss in downhill performance there, and is that loss worth the reduced weight on the way up? The corvus freebird is actually really cool! The new version has wood core and a titanal plate that gives you a solid flex, so it skis well for a skier that like to ride hard. The only reason I don't use it a lot is because I have ambitions of going backwards every now and then. Thanks!

    I love the atris too, and I usually take it when I'm too lazy to bring the anima. It's really fun for most conditions, and more fun for hardpack I find. Less fun for bigger lines, bigger airs and deeper snow though.

    I'm even taller than you 200cm, but thin only 81kg, and I damn sure don't ski as aggressively as you.... I don't know if I would need the 194 length or if that would be too much, especially for touring I could probably choose the next length down and save a little bit of weight.

  • @andreash.870
    @andreash.8703 жыл бұрын

    The reason some people like to put overkill bindings like the shift or some frame binding on relatively light weight skis, instead of saving weight on the bindings and going with a burlier ski, is safety. I love pin bindings, they are perfect for what i do, but i understand why people don't trust them. Releases with pinb. are less predictable, sometimes they release to early something the don't release at all. That being said the majority of people now buying into the shift hype would probably be better of with a lighter, simpler and more durable tech binding.

  • @JakkeJakobsen
    @JakkeJakobsen3 жыл бұрын

    Do not, if you have the choice, ride pin bindings in resorts, and especially, don't charge with them. They won't release properly in the toe occasionally, causing a lot of knee injuries. If you want a combined touring AND resort ski, go for the Atomic/Salomon Shift MNC or Marker Duke PT. These two actually have certified DIN release in the toe. Else, keep two separate pairs of skis. Please, I don't want any fellow skiers blowing their knees because of pin bindings. They are best in touring, but that's where it stops

  • @Nikolai_Schirmer

    @Nikolai_Schirmer

    3 жыл бұрын

    Really though? I’ve never had issues with pin bindings not releasing in the resort. It’s been more an issue with them releasing too early. They’re not good at repeated blows from ice/hardpack, being less flexible than a frame binding, but this causes the opposite of the problem you’re describing. A locked pin binding toe won’t release of course. A frame bidning cranked to 21 won’t either. Don’t do that. It’d be interesting if there were actual stats on this somewhere.
