I saw it! I was level 71. I dismounted and stared at it until it stopped eating rocks and slowly turned around. I was froZen in fear. thankfully, I was obscured by the orbs or perhaps its vision was movement based. It summoned a tank mount and flew away.

Still remember being a sprout doing the Sylph management MSQ line and having the crap scared out of me when a botanist started chopping trees, the non gathers boon noise is so loud.

Then, at midnight, they went out in to the twelveswood with their orb-o-detector and night vision spectacles, intent on finding.... the Thing.
