The Garden of Gethsemane, Jerusalem, Israel

The Garden of Gethsemane is located on the Mount of Olives on a hill overlooking the walls of Old Jerusalem. Jesus would come to the garden to pray, and it is here where the Roman soldiers arrested him before his crucifixion. On the day of March 17, 2010, we visited the garden, full of ancient olive trees. From here, we could hear gunfire coming from the Old City, as conflicts are going on around East Jerusalem. Pretty unnerving as most of us had ever heard gunfire like that before in our travels!

Praise God,I have an opportunity to go there,it was very peaceful. At Gethsemene I could pray and meditate,by visualizing Jesus suffering for us.At western wall I had to wait for an hour to touch the wall but it was worth waiting. God Bless Israel!

it is a miracle that this place still exists, for all the times the city of Jerusalem has been conquered and destroyed , but these ancient trees stand the test of time in a place where Jesus prayed

Seeing the garden in this video is the first time I have seen The Garden of Gethsemane. As I watched and noticed the beautiful trees and grounds, I felt a sense of calm and peacefulness within myself. It is no wonder why The Lord would often go there. I think now how The Lord walked with Adam, also, in the garden. Thank you 1st Baptist Church of Wetumpka, Alabama, for this video.Heeding your request, I just prayed for the Peace of Jerusalem, then the world.

John 17:3 Now this is eternal life: That they may know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. Prophets do the praying thing. Just FYI, here's a factoid you may never have heard about. The Garden of Gethsamane faces the Golden Gate from across the Kidron Valley. They face each other! According to Ezekiel 4:1-3, the Messiah will pass through the gates during the end times. It's as if saying, "you can't go through the Golden Gates until you first go through the trials and crucifixion." I was stunned when I was there and noticed it.

The Garden of Gethsemane is located on the east side of the old city in the Kidron Valley. The Garden Tomb is located on the north side of the old city... I'm guessing it's about 1 or 1.5 miles away. The Garden Tomb is only 100 yards from Golgotha... which is why I went to Israel to check it out in February 2011. Awesome place! - Don

I found this about the olive trees on another website ... "Olive trees do not have rings and so their age can not be precisely determined, but scholars estimate their age to anywhere between one and two thousand years old. It is unlikely that these trees were here in the time of Christ because of the report that the Romans cut down all the trees in the area in their siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D."

Rather, Allah raised him to Himself. And ever is Allah Exalted in Might and Wise. The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food. Look how We make clear to them the signs; then look how they are deluded. And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. Peace Dweller Allah is Elohim ask Jews not Christians who have worship 3 in 1 numbers in Monotheistic faith. God is Unique and why would he need a son all out of nowhere He is pure and clear from all of lies those who understand little about Oneness of God .Jesus was and is a servant of God. your actions after belief in Creator of all things would lead you Paradise Don`t shrink status of God by making his creation his sons or daughter they cant help themselves when they lived among you and now when they are gone you call them. Jesus live a life where he was aging and his miracles weren't his own free will but rather will of God.And this `pagan` god Arab Christian worship him unfortunately with Jesus pbuh and in Arabic this god is called Allah.

Peace Dweller The publishing arm of the Moody Bible Institute published the following: “Whenever it is postulated that Christians and Muslims worship the same God, there are some-both Christians and Muslims-who say this is simply untrue. Those who raise objections generally agree that Christians and Muslims worship one God, but will not accept the statement that they worship the same God. Admittedly, this problem is probably more of a Christian problem than it is a Muslim problem. Once a Muslim is ready to acknowledge that God can be known by a name other than Allah (i.e., God. Onyame, etc.), he will generally agree that Christians and Muslims worship ‘the same God.’

No. It wasn't a shooting range. There was tension between the Jews and Palestinians in the Old City of Jerusalem. We were supposed to go to the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount after going to the Garden of Gethsemane, but were not able to because of the fighting.

It wasn't very far. I'm sure we could have walked, but we took the bus to the Garden Tomb & Golgatha. it was the same day we went to Gethsemane. We heard gunshots over there, too!

My guess is the garden is only a portion of what used to be during Jesus's time. I would imagine it would not be this small. The city doesn't seem to take good care of it allowing tourists to walk on the grass. Grass should be cordoned off not to be trampled upon.
