The game changers under our noses | John Militello | TEDxTraverseCity

This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. John Militello inspires his audience by noting that while most people do not like change, he is asked every day at work to do what has never been done before, for his advertisers. That is, to change. It's uncomfortable and exciting. He reminds us that our communities nurture and support us, and that the real game changers are very nearby, perhaps even under our noses.
John Militello is Head of Creative on Google's agency-like ZOO Team. John leads a 14 person creative team made up of creative directors, creative technologist, designers, copy writers and video producers. In addition to his day job John is an adjunct professor at the School of Visual Arts in New York City where he teaches a class in digital advertising. John has also spoken at industry events on behalf of Google including SXSW (called one of "8 Crucial Takeaways" by the Huffington Post). Before joining Google, John led his own design firm, founded a leading boutique creative agency in NYC where he served as a VP and Creative Director leading creative on Volvo Cars and Mercedes-Benz. John earned a BFA in Fine Arts from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, where he received the Leo Brunett Scholarship. Before attending CCS, John got his start at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City where he earned an associate degree in commercial art.
About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Oh how our egos destroy so much of what could be accomplished by community instead of self centered isolationism. This video is fabulous.
