I think Santa Monica will throw everyone off. Everyone is expecting kratos to visit one pantheon next but what if he visited multiple. Kratos now being the god of hope as revealed in Valhalla could mean he next embarks on a mission to save humanity from malevolent gods in multiple realms. Atreaus’s mission to save the giants could also see him visiting multiple realms or maybe being kidnapped by his Greek ancestors forcing Kratos to return home.

The idea of Kratos adding a flawless Japanese katana to his arsenal and fighting a Japanese dragon makes me geek my boxers a lil bit.

I just hope Mimir and Freya join us. Their stories feel incomplete and bring so much to the whole experience, from the narrative to the general gameplay experience. I find the best addition is making downtime funny/interesting rather than just silence or repetitive music while searching the map Yes, they could just recreate the same thing with an Egyptian character but it'd feel derivative of Mimir unless they changed it quite significantly

While mimirs head is cool, I'd love it if they just gave him a humanoid golem body via magic, it's not unreasonable. I can't see them keeping him as a head on kratos' hip for another game.

@@ATthemusician the issue with that is I don't want two people to follow Kratos at all times. Mimir deserves legs but I think it'll have a negative impact on the gameplay. If Mimir gets a body it'll be Mimir or Atreus or Freya and not the three at one time like we have currently. Kratos' isn't the talkative type so we need someone the auxillary characters can talk to freely regarding lore, locations, comedic relief etc. Kratos is becoming more human and empathetic but definitely not to the point where he'll joke around with everyone like Mimir currently does. Kratos' can be a funny character but it's rare we see that and that's what makes it so great. We don't want him turning into a Marvel hero and spitting out one liners every minute.

From gamers and marketing standpoint they will go in ancient Egypt direction. If somehow, some way they decide to go to Mayan direction it will be literally HUGE as this is like area that no one has ever explored. There are lots of myths and legends about Alien interactions and ancient history. If done right it will be mind blowing…Literally!

I think the Mayan direction will give the dev team more freedom with how they explore the gods, myths, and legends compared to the other 2. Like you said, Mayan mythology has barely been explored while Egypt has a flooded market and the Japanese myths have been getting more known through games, manga, and anime. The Mayan direction would be a lot more colorful and brutal gameplay wise.

I really think it might be the Japanese pantheon they'll explore. Outside of all the story hints and the spectacular last fight with Tyr with the Katana, Sony is a Japanese company and GOW could be an even bigger giant in gaming if it attracts more eyes from especially Japan, a cultural phenomenon

Egyptian, Chinese, and Japanese have gotten a lot of attention in other media. For a change of pace, I'd like to see an African, Native American or South American pantheon. There's a lot there to work with that doesn't get hit up much. The only one that's really hit up much of that was one season of Disney's Gargoyles and two episodes of Static Shock.

While it would be interesting, no doubt they also need to consider what is gonna sell more. Are people gonna be more hyped to see Kratos fighting Ra, Susano'o, or Quetzucotal. Or are they gonna be as excited for lesser known gods. This isn't me saying they shouldn't go with some lesser known pantheons. I'm just saying from a profit standpoint outside of Greek and Norse Mytholagies that the next most well-known are Egyptian, Shinto, and Mayan. I repeat, I am not saying Africa doesn't have a large mythos. I'm saying that not many know about it, and while yes, I agree God of War could help expand who knows about it. The question is, will it sell? And while you might say yes, you'd buy it for sure it could be possible 10 other people say no because they wanted one of the 3 big names I mentioned to see Kratos with a Katana, Kobesh, or the Aztec blade I don't know how to spell.

We've seen Egyptian environments but not so much their gods. That's what I would want to see. And yes, Asian stuff has been beat to death from top to bottom. It would just be another one to throw on the pile for the fedora wearing nerds.

If Kratos goes to Egypt then perhaps Atreus will go to one of the other lands/mythologies shown in Tyr's temple. I could totally see him learning new magics and skills in ancient Japan, fighting evil Yokai, and meeting the Shinto Gods there. Seeing if they know the whereabouts of his fellow Giants and or help him find them new bodies.

Yeah and remembering their past lives and learning what Kratos did to them, they’ll take revenge. Maybe launch an attack on the nine realms that results in the deaths of many people close to Kratos such as Freya and Mimir and others, thus bringing back the old Kratos who’ll awaken and show the Roman gods why they should be afraid of him.

I honestly think they will come in the order they are shown in Try's storeroom, meaning Egypt is next. But, I'm hoping for Japanese more. Egypt had so much gods, it would definietly take 3 or more games to fetch out. On the other hand, Japanese cold come in package with Chinese and Budhism myths as they had a great influence on it and are also have presence in Japan.

If you think the number of gods in Egyptian mythology is a problem, then they sure as hell can't do Japanese. Japan made a god or spirit out of damn near everything. The sheer number of names theyde have to depict dwarfs most mythologies by a LOT. They'd have to whittle it down so much, we'd only be seeing a fraction of whats there.

I don’t think Japanese mythology would suit kratos tbh, it’ll look weird. Egypt is perfect as it reminds me of the old gow games, especially ascension😂

What’s intriguing is that the journey is depicted to end at the Mayan area, which could also mean that Kratos might die in the franchise at that point.

Aztec would be the most interesting to me. It's so rare to see that pantheon and those myths depicted in pop culture at all, let alone a game as big as GoW. We'll see a dozen other games using Egyptian or Japanese myth, but Aztec would be a rare treat.

Calling it now: Aphrodite has relocated and is hanging out with Hathor, settling into Egypt

Mimir going back to Celtic lore makes sense for Atreus as well in his hunt for the giants. Plus it doesn't have to discard Norse mythos to do so.

I know it was not hinted at all, but honestly the places I’d love to see in terms of mythology are Iroquois, Russian, Polynesian, and honestly any African country besides Egypt. I feel like Africa is never explored in videogames in a cultural sense.

It would be quite incredible. My guess is Sindri will be seeking ways to get back at Kratos and the Norse pantheon. So he'll try to strike a bargain with the Egyptian powers and get in too deep. Or be a recurring antagonist to Atreus, on his quest to find more Giants. And their struggle will ultimately land them in Egypt, in which he will need Kratos's help.

Tyr having supposedly been to greece is interesting

Egypt has me the most intrigued, but Japan or Mayan centered games would be awesome as well. I think a Celtic game would look too similar to the recent installment so i doubt kratos ventures there next...but really tho, what ever is decided im sure its going to be an awesome game

It'd be crazy if tyr was the next big bad. Him Only helping kratos to take the throne in valhalla to sacrifice himself later on on purpose to gain access to the higher plane.

I know it will probably never happen, but given the proximity of the two pantheons, I'd love for Kratos to visit Finland and interact with the Gods of the Suomenusko faith. The story could revolve around Lempo plotting something.

So let's have the Greek gods resurrected as Roman gods invade the Norse pantheon in search of revenge against Kratos, forcing Kratos to face his past to protect his future.

I dont know why, but the Egyptian Pantheon just doesn't do it for me .The desert would be too similar to what we already had in ragnarok,im sure they can still make it fun, but I think they may venture elsewhere before they do,it would just make sense imo.

If they do Atreus spinoffs then they could always split the choices between them. I wouldnt mind visiting Rome and using it as a way to explore Kratos's actions. Having the Roman pantheon being young gods who are reborn versions of the Olympus pantheon would be a cool hook.

I was just thinking this the other day while watching the Ragnorak Valhalla playthrough. I was thinking what other culture has enough multiple gods to make more GoW games and immedietly thought Egyptian mythology. Honestly it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I know we're Egypt-bound with GOW, but I prefer the characters go to Japan instead. Much more to work with than Egypt. There're plenty of gods to kill, even more monsters to slay, and add on top of that you get ninjas and samurai.

I hope the next gow game takes place in Aztec mythology. Because there are already plenty of examples of Egyptian and Japanese myths and people's expectations are based on these two concepts. However, there are not many examples of Aztec mythology and it contains a lot of things that can be consumed, and there will be a difference because it will be beyond expectations.

If the next mythology has been revealed, then why is it "well have to wait and see"?

Honestly, I think that would be my preferred setting for the next game in the GOW series.

With how many pantheons they've hinted at, it'd be interesting to see multiple. If you think about it, these other pantheons are shitting bricks, kratos not only wiped out the entirety of the Greek pantheon, he also killed the All father and many others. They would probably view him as a threat. It'd be interesting to see a hierarchy of pantheons take place as well, or like a big war between them because they're scared of being conquered by the god of war.

I vote for Egypt simply because they can link it to Greece both historically and geographically. Egyptian myth is so ancient and Assassin Creed failed miserably in exploring Egyptian history prior Alexander the Great (not alone the pantheon itself). Also, they can later transfer Kratos to Mesopotamia which is more ancient and can be linked to both Egypt and Greece as well. Japan is the least appealing option since it is well-presented in modern media. If they must go for Asian myth, they should consider India or China. Generally, I prefer more "local" pantheons at this stage

I'd love to see God of War set in ancient Babylon. It's a mythology that hasn't been explored much in gaming.

I’d like to see him go into the Hindu pantheon and of the of ancient Sumerian pantheon with an, enlil and enki.

Mimir also hint at a sixth mythology "The Celtic" as Oberon his former master is King of the Fae and a key part of celtic mythology.

Great audio mixing, pleasant narration, great video editing, all 10/10. But clickbait title was misleading, so 9/10 overall. Very good production and some real insights to be had, though, so I'm still glad I watched.

We may go to eastern mythology next, they’re very specific with tyr’s animations.

With Valhalla, I think Ragnarok and Kratos being the new throned god of war to ensure peace and order among realms will serve as the foundation block to all upcoming sequels.

It's interesting to think that there will be more for god of war to explore. I'm glad they are not going to end the game just yet. I love god of war it's such an amazing game. tells a good story and has good puzzles to solve. Every time you finish a puzzle or a boss fight. It feels satisfying I hope we do see more in the future.

The Alfheim Desert really makes me feel like Santa Monica is trying out a "what could be" an Egypt desert biome in the game. Also the light elf enemies are very feudal japanese like with those weapons.. and Vanaheim very much could be the jungle in Aztec mythology.. And when Kratos entered the Greek realm in Valhalla, Mimir was replaced with Helios while he was in forest, maybe teasing the Gaelic mythology! Maybe that one could become a comic series, but who knows!

If you think about it when Kratos was training with tyr used weapons from each myth to attack kratos meaning he will follow that order.

I think it’s been pretty clear where the series was going next after the Norse saga. I mean they even made a comic after the Greek saga which had Kratos go through Egypt on his wash to Scandinavia. Kratos has a history with Egypt. And Sony Santa Monica has left countless breadcrumbs to let us know we are going to Egypt next.

Actually God of War 2018 was going to be Egyptian, there was a 50 percent chance of it happening but it ultimately changed to Norse mythology.

I think mayan, Egyptian and Japanese are the ones he will travel to because they are all mentioned and hinted at many times in the games and if he doesn't go there, then what's the point

I think Egyptian mythology makes the most sense, but I personally would also be interested in Hindu stuff too

I personally would love to see yaldabaoth make an appearance of some way shape or form, it could definitely tie in with the mask from ragnarok and Athena’s spectral projection in previous games.

Celtic mythology seems most likely if the next game continues with Mimir. If there's a backward time jump, then Egypt (Kratos may have travelled to Egypt before his Norse times). Forward time jumps could involve Japan or Aztecs with some magic elements of magic for him to travel the distance.

will go to Egypt N fight their gods, and then go to India, they have so many gods there, and then will go to its Neighbour...China, fight mythical dragons and gods, and then go to Japan fight Samurai's, shoguns, Japan's mythical dragons and gods, etc.

It would be nice story wise if they establish that there is an oncoming war of the gods containing said three mythos as kratos is missioned to try and bring peace amongst these pantheons but failing or other gods from are plotting and making it worse for him to accomplish peace. It’ll give kratos a reason to be useful story wise than to be another brute going around beating people up just because. Have Odin come back some how (unlikely) with Athena and other gods as they try and find the source of all power with the mask Atreus broke. Just an opinion

Egyptian, Japanese and Hindu Mythology

I'd love to see Kratos going in another region of the world of course, but not necessarily fighting gods. What if he instead found someone doing exactly what he did to Greece ? A God/Demi-god angry against his kind, trying to take them all down, and Kratos would have to stop him throught the game, with of course other antagonists. That would be cool imo, to have someone who matches Kratos's strenght.

I don’t think the next God of War will ever be placed in Japan. God of war’s identity is fighting gods and creatures from different mythology and Japan belive their king is a decendent of God. Since Santamonica studio is close to Sony and Japanese acutally still belive and practice their mythology, a game killing Japanese gods will never come out.

Tbh I think that the 3 mythologies seen in Tyr's temple are each going to be a single game, which may be represented by the small size of each of those 3 mythologies on the overall painting. I also think that it will be Tyr who incites Kratos to travel to these realms and that we may start learning of the origin of the Mask from GoW Ragnarok. Odin as Tyr did say that the Mask was the reason why Odin captured and tortured him, and if Odin did that to Tyr it would mean he expected Tyr to have some knowledge about it. And the only reason Tyr would be the only god who Odin would think knows about the Mask is because Tyr is the only god, as far as we know, to have actively travelled to and learned from other pantheons. So what I think is going to happen is that Kratos and Tyr will at some point touch upon the subject of the Mask and it will be the trigger to Kratos' journey to the other pantheons. And since Kratos will only be visiting each of the pantheons with a single goal in mind rather than to settle there, it would make sense for each one to be a single game.

Egypt would get my vote for the next iteration, possibly as a prequel to Gow 2018. So, we'd get to see what happen to Kratos on his way to Scandinavia. Though, I don't know the canonical time line thats written into the lore(comics). I wouldn't at all hate if they went chinese/Japanese either though as the lore and mythology of those cultures are so rich of character.

Well, nothing says we are getting the next game this upcoming year, is it? Could be another 2 or 3 years away. Depending on if they decide to overhaul the game mechanics since fans will likely wanna keel Leviathan and the Blades so the Spear will have to go to make room for a new weapon. Or 3. They would have to really work on how it plays and the style they use. Honestly, it wouldn't feel bad to me if they did as it kinda shows each mythos has its own style of combat. Granted that would probably make the game take longer but I'd say it would be worth it.

I think if they continue with Kratos as the protagonist, Egypt should be a standalone game and end with his death. I'm not exactly an expert on GoW, but based on 2018 and Ragnarok, it seems to me like his character growth is basically complete. If they continue, they should consider making Atreus the lead.

Ive been hoping that Kratos would eventually not be the main character, or a second series is started like "God of Mischief" or something like that where Atreus is the main character and the game returns to a combo-focused hack'n'slash with the classic GoW camera. With a seperate spin-off IP we could get some Kratos focused plots, maybe even one that returns to Greece, and then with Atreues we could explore the other Pantheons in their lands while looking for Giants who traveled overseas to excape Odin.

I know one of the comics had Kratos in Egypt, and an old man he talked to was revealed to be the Egyptian God of wisdom afterwards, talking with Athena

It would be interesting if in the next game, the blades of chaos had a skin that changes their apperance to the Egyptian khopesh blades

In the game they say magic is tied to the land its from I really hope that doesnt mean mimir is gone next game cause he cant leave the 9 realms. I assume they'll just blow over it and pretend nothing is wrong or there will be some weird exception like well if freya is the magic source and she comes it's all good

Nice video. I think it's pretty obvious at this point that the other pantheons are going to have some kind of crossover via Kratos, Atreus', and Tyr's travels. That'd be my guess for the next installment. I doubt they'd hole Kratos up in a single realm for an entire trilogy for the next round. We'll likely see more than 1 realm in a single game and see where it goes from there.

I appreciate that! I agree that perhaps there won't be many (or any) trilogies moving forward. I'm curious to see GOW tackling multiple mythologies in one game

What if the three wisemen are the 3 Gods of War? Kratos, Tyr, and Anhur?

8-15 hours of Kratos simping to Freya.

I think it would be really interesting to go into the Roman mythology, him going back to his home land with gods are very similar but also very different.

I want to see the Greek Mythology Games remade using the same Format the Norse Games used

Kratos visiting his homeland, and dealing with some of his old enemies, like the berserkers would be quite good

I feel like everyone wants and expects Egypt, I think doing Mayan would be sick and unexpected. If they do Egypt, everyone will be like awesome as we expected. I hope Santa Monica throws us off and gives us the unexpected so it doesn’t burn out as fast. Doing Egypt after will be much more refreshing after not getting what we wanted

Bro fuck off we've already had too much sand games one after another and kratos has already been to Egypt already in a comic Japan mythology makes the most sense

I have a feeling they’re going to retire Kratos and pass the blades onto Atreus. Push to the future 10 years, bulk and wise Atreus up, finally make Kratos a true benign god, and he could continue in the series as a possible companion.

As a massive fan of Japanese anime (such as Naruto) I would love to see more of the Japanese pantheon. Naruto hints at it but doesn't elaborate as it's not part of the show's remit. However, I've never read or seen anything about the Mayan pantheon so that would be super novel and interesting for me! While the ancient Egyptian pantheon would be very interesting it feels like a bit of a broken record and has been covered extensively in films like the 'Mummy' and 'Gods of Egypt'. It also feels too similar to the Greek pantheon given that the ancient Greeks were influenced heavily by the ancient Egyptians. I'd like to see other pantheons within the African continent. For example, I know there's a rich number of stories from the Yoruba culture in Nigeria. These deities are still celebrated today in places like Brazil. Even the Starbucks logo is based on the Yoruba deity called 'Yemọja'. Nonetheless, I have every confidence that Santa Monica studios will make the right decision.

Indian mythology is a hidden gem filled with all kinds of gods n lore. Hinduism being one of the oldest if not the oldest religion u know there’s enough lore for atleast 3 games however can be controversial since Hinduism is going strong and people maybe seriously offended seeing kratos slay Indian gods

I think the future entries in GoW will be about Atreus. Kratos has his place in the world now as the God of Hope. An adult Atreus search for Giants could lead him to Egypt.

I would play the shit out of it.

I'll be happy with whatever decision santa monika studio makes but in my personal opinion I think we're going back to Greece I mean the whole dlc is about Greece bringing back the blade of olympus his past self helios minotaurs sirens it's kind of obvious but I may be wrong 🤔

Also tyr talked about sparta aand how they still speak of the ghost of sparta while they rebuilt so could he visit his land once more on his way to Egyptian or japan mythology or maya that would be dope.

This is my idea and it’s honestly just what I hope happens personally for the games, Norse which is rn as we saw, then Greek which could me we get a remake of the original gow 1, 2, and 3, or just 1 so to speak then we could after that get the other mythologies after that, being Egyptian mythology and then the rest

It's gonna be fun to see kratos fail at trying to not kill every god in whatever religion he goes to next

We need a Kratos vs Amun Ra Penultimate Boss Fight where Amun Ra can raise mummies from the dead and you have fight thru waves of them before facing Amun Ra on top of the Giza Pyramids. Omg a boy could only imagine. Santa Monica i give you permission to use this only if done correctly.

Opinion, God of War with Japanese mythology will be most likely with a new main character, or perhaps Atreus being the main character and not Kratos because Kratos, as in Valhalla DLC, has became the all-father? I don't play the game, I just watched a lot of lores about the series, and Kratos is most likely not leaving the Norse mythology, unlike Atreus and Sigrun (Secret ending in the Valhalla DLC)

As much as Kratos' story seems complete for the Norse saga, I still think he'll star in another GOW game. The character prints money and the developers are going to introduce some way for Kratos to keep on keeping on

Going to Egypt would be cool but the Egyptian gods aren't exactly violent or vengeful. The only ones would really be Sekhmet who is the goddess of war and basically a vampire. She would definitely want to kill Kratos. Set but he is more cunning than violent. Or Ra but he is benevolent and isn't violent either. Anubis, Osiris, and Thoth just deal with the dead and rule over them peacefully. Most of the Egyptians gods just drink beer together, enjoy living in their temples, bang each other, and party a lot. They probably would just have a beer with Kratos. I think they should really do the Aztec mythos. Those gods are violent killers who like to drink blood and kill their human subjects. You could actually spin a game where Kratos is considered a savior for the Aztec people who are enslaved by their gods.

I still would rather play as kratos than atreus if they pick one or the other

If Kratos ends up going back to Egypt, I would like to see him beat Set's face in and rip Apophis apart with Rah. I'd also like to see Kratos in Japan, though if he was to wield a katana, he'd probably need one build like Jetstream Sam's from MGRR as any other kind of katana would shatter if he used one.

While I am a sucker for japanese settings and really can't warm up to egyptian mythology, Given how rare mayan mythology is present in modern media, I do feel like that could bring something fresh to the table...

Be funny if they meme Kratos for being responsible for every end of the world myth in every pantheon's myth in the world.

If its Egypt I want to see him battle horus and set. If Japan obviously I want to see him battle asura

i thik i know where the series will end, if all kratos seeks for is peace then there are many pantheons and religions out there, but two stick out, buddhism because chinese/japanese culture is teased, because it does't have any big symbols of nature, it is just about finding inner peace, i think kratos will fid it very nice there, but agian he may or may not be driven out, so backup plan i think since everyone wants to see it, christianity, as a peacefull home for him, the number one step for kratos is for him to belive in the lord for that religion to be allowed in heaven and with all the other gods he has seen it should be easy for him to do so, and for some christianity may be more of a struggle, but for kratos, it's exactly what he wants!

Teal’c is back at it, killing Egyptian gods.

What I don’t understand is how kratos went through all the is character growth and changed as a person and god. So how and why would he go on and keep killing gods when he clearly has been working on changing and specifically not kill gods. It just doesn’t seem right and not in his character to go back to his old ways and kill more gods. After he killed heimdall he was extremely distraught and hated himself because he went back to his old ways.

I agree. He would only kill now out of necessity, but that doesn't mean there can't be more games starring Kratos

I have a hot take here. I don’t think it’ll be either of these. Tyr befriended all these cultures and we need an new antagonist. The biggest one not mentioned is Christianity… I think it be neat to have Christianity represented during their Crusade to have everyone under one god. Would have a reason for all of these cultures to band together with Kratos to fight for survival.

Much to rebuild I think means that kratos in the next game will travel back to Greece and start fixing all that he destroyed it’s a little far fetched but with the Valhalla dlc idk

don't know you guys but in my mind i'm keeping flashing Kratos potentially be at his last adventure with a possible God Of War set in Egypt, imagine having him in front of Anubis with his *weighing scale* for his ultimate judgment... no more ressurection, just the end of his voyage after so many adventures. I think it would be not so bad as a possible ending and potentially heartbreaking

I bet it would be 3-4 different pantheons in single game, because any of them as single is too small to make the whole game of the same scale as 4 and 5 parts were. And SM really needs to find a good reason to go there first of all.
