I mean wtf. They are playing on a high level. They know each others turns, they are capable of receiving a pun when its meant to be. Not just for the pure show but they both did recent normal servings, going from aggressive to defensive and had some fun is incredible. It's like watching two best friends who played hundreds of matches against each other and then this......they got it all and seperated by the best way. So much thank yous for these players

I watched this 6 years ago, then about 3 years ago, then again today after Chuangs retirementannouncement. A classic game is always fun to watch because it's a classic game. There is a reason we call Sports a game, because that's what it is, a Game, something Fun to experience, to play. That spirit seems to have lost somehow nowadays.

Exactly! They're having an absolute blast playing, and yes there's competition, but they are genuinely enjoying and joking around with each other. They may not speak or understand each other's language, but they are communicating perfectly on a much deeper level and are even sharing it with the crowd. They've completely lost track of the score and don't even know whose serve it is, but they're having such a good time they don't seem to care. This is what competition should always be like.

Saive retired about an year after this game, having played at the Olympics a record 7 times straight since 1988, when the sport was first introduced there. Chih-Yuan is 15 years younger than him and currently the world no. 26 with a bright future.

Chuang is likely going to retire after this Olympics. He played during the period where the nation did not fund athletic training programs and spent all his savings and some more to build the first dedicated table tennis training facility.
