The FUN Way To Go Down Cadair Idris - Snowdonia National Park

The FUN Way To Go Down Cadair Idris - Snowdonia National Park
So as the title states I had a fantastic hike to the summit of Cadair Idris then a nice scramble back down a scree to the tarn at the bottom. I was going to walk the full 'bowl' shape but ended up coming back down, the FUN way to the tarn to relax by this super stunning mountain.
Cadair Idris is a fantastic walk / hike or climb you can do in southern Snowdonia, Wales. The weather can turn for the better or worse in a matter of minutes as always when in the mountains so make sure you travel prepared if you decide to go and attempt this summit.
I hope you enjoy the video, please hit the like button and leave me a comment below to let me know if you did and if you have been to Cadair Idris before.
Thanks... Stay safe.
Chris

Wow! Best video yet Chris! We have never hiked up Cadair Idris but it is on the list after watching this video! What stunning views! Absolutely beautiful 😍. A ridge route is our favourite thing, love being able to stop and spend time walking up high enjoying those views. Your route down to the tarn looked technical AF! Well done on that👏. What incredible weather you had, bet you wished you could camp over, imagine that sunset🥰 We saved your video to watch on the big screen. Keep them coming loving your channel😊👍

Oh THANK YOU so much!!! Wow... that is such a fantastic comment 😃😃 Really am truely happy that you really enjoyed it 😊😊 Cadair Idris is stunning and im so glad I had the weather on my side as last time I did it a few years ago I was in the clag and a hailstorm 😂 You definitely cant beat taking in all the views. Amazing! Yes the scramble down was a bit hairy in places and I couldnt balance the camera anywhere lol but did when I could. Was effort having yo do some of the parts twice 😂 All good fun though! I was actually going to take my camping gear in my car and wish I had of done. But will be back there for that 💯% 😏😉 Honestly thank you so much for the kind words they really are appreciated a huge amount 🥰🙏🏼😊 Take care both.... Chris

Ahh awesome so glad you enjoyed it and THANK YOU so much for clicking on my video and leaving me a comment! Was in Snowdonia last week and they had a pretty decent dumping of snow, not sure how much snow and ice is there currently especially higher up on the Peaks. Take some Microspikes if you have them and be very mindful of the route I took coming down condition dependant. But take your time and have fun!! Stay safe out there and hope you have a great day 😊😊 ATB pal.... Chris 👍🏻👍🏻

Hi Steve!! 👋🏻 I have just landed in Kefalonia haha so I do apologise if any of my responses are slightly delayed as I will be driving to my hotel soon... Anyway, Cadair Idris is a great mountain to climb. If you are a complete amateur though I wouldn't advise going back down the route I went down if you have no scrambling experience! The route I went up will be completely fine, there isn't anything technical there so just take your time and enjoy the views 😊 You could always go back the way I was going to doing 'the loop' or just get to the trig point, enjoy the scenery and go back the way you came up. Are you going with anyone else? If so what are you going to be using for navigation? If you're going on your own remember ALWAYS let someone know where you're planning on going. Luckily for you if you can see it from your Aunts back garden just let her know you're going up so somebody knows. I always so when going solo even though ive hiked for over 15 years and even if its an are I know very well 👍🏻👍🏻 Thanks so much for clicking on my video! Chris 🙏🏼⛰️✌🏼

@@theheightoflife no apology necessary! Thank you so much for the response. My first thought when I saw you take the "fun" way down was, nope not for me just yet 😂 I was just going to use the navigation on my phone and ill be taking my portable charger with me. Is that a rookie mistake? Because I have a wonderful compass that I got from a second hand store I can bring with me. My Aunt and Uncle are gonna be driving me there and will know my planned route. I think the loop sounds like a great idea. I'm from Birmingham btw. I thought i heard some midlands in your accent. @@TheeSteveValentino You're very welcome 🙏🏼 Haha yeah it is a bit of a mad one and that was showing parts I managed to be able to wedge the camera on 😂😂 Well that's the 'usual' mistake people make, but some dont even take the charger with them. Its surprising how much battery you use taking photos etc. Luckily too round Wales and Snowdonia National Park the signal is usually pretty decent. Its good how you have a compass though. Can you use it? If not it will be ok for now with your phone but knowing how to use an OS map and compass is a great skill to have while out in the hills and mountains. There are lots of course you can do in Wales / Lake District and many other places at all skill levels. Thats awesome your aunt and uncle will know where you are etc good man and I'm from Birmingham too!! I live about 10 mins from the airport 😃 Do you have Instagram? If so find me on there and send me a message, its @the_height_of_life or the link is on my 'about' section on here. He took the minfford path and on the way back he took the same route we took.. 25-30 min and you are down to the lake 😉 bit of tricky though, need a bit of experience, else you can come running down.

Yes I hiked up the Minfford Path went to the Trig then camp back down a scree from Craig Cau. As you mentioned to yourself below. You are right though I wouldn't do this route back down if you have no scree or basic scrambling experience. You could do it in a couple of hours but longer if you want to sit and admire the views on a clear day. Thanks for watching. ATB... Chris
