The Fummins Project - Episode 7 - Lower the Body and Check For Fit

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In a world where one man likes to work in his garage, we present to you.... Fun King Garage!
In this episode the Fleece Coolant Bypass is installed on the block and the body is lowered to check for fit and clearance including the radiator fan and shroud.
This series walks though doing an engine swap in a 2008 Ford F-450 Super Duty. We are removing the 6.4L Powerstroke and replacing it with a 5.9L Cummins Turbo Diesel out of a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.

Come along for the ride and check out our progress.

Glenn, with this episode you've put out about 2 hours of video on this project so far and every second has been worth watching.

What's sad is that those 2 hours are WEEKS worth of work. LOL! I do appreciate you posting this though. That is a neat way to look at it and one I had not ever paid attention to. Thanks for watching, and even more so for the comment.

Lefty loosey, right tighty Glenn. You could add a 1/2"-1" Body shim kit to raise the body and give clearance to the back of the engine.

Sometimes you have to make the bolt tighter to make it easier to loosen. LOL! (Most of the time, I am just not paying attention. LOL! The engine fits magnificently and I ended up with no clearance issues.

Very glad I found you on the Fummins page. I’m wanting to run a fleece kit on my 04/08 but wasn’t sure wether to go with the auto kit or manual kit, and fleece has been no help at all. Which one did you go with? Thanks for the videos! Definitely subscribing 👍🏻

So I used the Automatic kit. (Got it from puredieselpower.com) I can't remember why I made the decision to go with the auto over manual, but I think it had to do with what was in the kit. If I remember right, the auto kit had everything the manual kit had, plus some. It worked out for me and I did not need anything additional.

In this episode it looked like the engine is tilted with the front up, is that true? Was there not room to tilt it down and gain room for the back of the valve cover and fan?

It is actually sitting pretty close to level. Plenty of room. :)

How much to install one of those 5.9's in place of my 6.0 powerstroke

Who did you use to tune the trans/engine?

DCS will be the trans tuner. But I think in the end, I will have it done by Fummins Tuning.
