Fun King Garage

Fun King Garage

Fun King Garage was created to showcase the projects done in the garage. It might be repairs, upgrades, welding, building, wood working or even working on the garage itself.

Glenn has been turning wrench on cars since high school (late 80's/early 90s,) and on bikes, mowers and other things since way before that. He is skilled in woodworking/carpentry, house building, electrical, plumbing, auto repair, auto customizing, upholstery, window tinting, computers, electronics, 3D Printing, cad design, and so much more. (Jack of all trades... master of none. LOL!)

We will be showcasing many of these talents on this channel. The goal for this channel is to grow it (obviously) and maybe even add a few more personalities (people, not Glenn's other personalities) into the videos.

Some of the projects seen here are ours and some are for others and used with permission.
Thank you for being here and I hope you subscribe!

    Where did you get the capture nuts fir the empty holes?

  • @FunKingGarage

    If I remember correctly, they came in the kit with the steps. In fact I am almost positive that is the case as I do not have any of those laying around. I think the kit actually came with them for all the holes and I did not need them all.

    Good video but I was expecting to see more details about the rear suspension. How you made the springs come off?

  • @FunKingGarage
    @FunKingGarageАй бұрын

    I know it is always a bummer when a video does not show what you are looking for, but sometimes things don't get filmed. We are definitely not a "how to" channel and that is why the videos are never step by step. I don't 100% remember what I had to remove, but it was the shocks for sure, most likely the rear sway bar and I am pretty sure the control arm needed to be loosened. (Be sure to preload before retorquing the control arm.) Honestly though, I would say the best thing for you to do is get a factory service manual. (I mean this VERY respectably.) If you are unsure how to remove the spring, you should not do it. Springs can contain an immense amount of stored energy and can hurt or kill you. I will never discourage anyone from wanting to learn to work on cars, but please be very careful and know all you can before attempting.

    How's the ride on those springs? We just got a 2018 Rav4 for my wife and she's looking to lower it and change the wheels .

  • @FunKingGarage
    @FunKingGarageАй бұрын

    That is a tough question to answer. Depends on if you have ever had a lowered vehicle before. To me it had a nice sporty feel to it. (Make sure to trim the bump stops.) It took my mom a bit to get used to it. It is not a "pillowy" as factory of course, but it is also not like driving something that is SLAMMED. To me, it was well worth it and it looks so much better.

    As long as there is an adapter plate, there should be no issues. Check with Diesel Conversion Specialists and see what they have available. You can also check in the Fummins Tech facebook group and look for Mike Fuchs. He makes adapters as well. But it has absolutely been done with manual transmissions.

    Thanks for this. I'm working on a belt squeal on our 2006 Altima 3.5L. Hoping it's not the A/C after watching this. Only does it on the first startup of the day, and does it less if the A/C is turned off at startup. The fun continues....

  • @FunKingGarage
    @FunKingGarage2 ай бұрын

    I assume you have changed the belt and checked/replaced the tensioner. It may not be the A/C even if it does not do it or does it less with it turned off. The A/C may just be adding enough load to cause it. When mine first started, I could rev the engine and it would go away, but it got progressively worse. I would suggest watching the pullies and having someone else start the car, watch for a pully hanging up. (I know easier said then done, not much room in there.) Might want to use a bright colored paint pen to put on a mark on each pully (not the compressor clutch, but the actual pully) and see if anything hangs. Good luck and feel free to reach out with questions. I may not always have an answer, but I am always willing to try to help.

    I like your meticulous work habits, Sir. You know the importance of getting things aligned properly, to zero tolerances. I'm also impressed with the body and frame; that 55 Ford is a sound as a kitten. In addition, it looks like the frame is as straight as a die, as your level indicated. You'll never have any problems steering a straight line down the road. Those old cars had a lot of steering play to contend with and were not that stable cornering especially with weak springs. They also had a habit of dog tracking under shackle bushings wear conditions. Can't wait to see how you go about installing the new springs etc....
