Just want to give"Mr Safety" some love, the guy they're talking about who told them need to stick together and charge no less than $10,000 for brand deals, Corey Williams, was the first ever youtuber I watched back in 2007, when KZread was still this archaic ball of random shit. He made some of the highest quality comedy short films on KZread - the cat song R&L reference in this interview was stuck in my head for about 5 years (I could sing the whole thing right now) He was also one of the first daily vloggers and was in the whole shay carl / charles trippy daily vlogger-sphere (never got as big as them) but in my personal opinion was the kindest, most entertaining, creative, honest one of them! A while back he moved to Alaska and started a family and slowed down on the KZread content. "Mr Safety" is entirely responsible for my initial interest in pursuing film (my full time job now!!) What an absolute treat to hear he had such an empowering impact on Rhett & Link. It would be my DREAM to see Corey on any interview show, he would have the most interesting insight into early KZread! He was my childhood hero TBH

I’m a few years older than their oldest kids, and I’ve been a fan since season 3. I noticed that over time they’ve developed and matured their humor and flow, seemingly at the pace their kids matured; because I was going at the same pace too. What they’ve created really is a reflection of who they are as parents. And they’ve raised Mythical (and us) alongside their own families. That’s why we continue to resonate with them after 10 years.

  • @Ima_Shark

One of the best things about GMM is the appeal to different age groups. PG as it is, it was fun for my kids and I to watch together. From the time they started on YT, they've been KZreadrs we could count on for good content. We did Will It Taco and Will It Waffle for bday parties. It was great! My kids, now adults, and I still make time to watch them via streaming it together from all across the country. Just two guys sitting behind a desk allowed us to bond with each other, and I think with them as well. Thanks for interviewing them!! I love that you are exploring the experiences of other KZreadrs; taking the time to do it and more importantly learn from it. I can't wait to watch your transformation as you absorb all of this great content!!

That so crazy to think about honestly. I just wanted to share:)

I’m 38, I wasn’t a kid when I discovered them. In fact, they popped up on my feed four years ago. When GMM had post Malone on, and he did old McDonald to the lyrical flow of the Migos, that part got picked up by urban/black entertainment websites and accounts, and that’s how I saw them for the first time. And the response was amazing, people were like that was dope, who are these guys? That’s when I became a fan. I especially love the food reviews and the foods from different time periods.

I've been waiting for this interview!! I've been a mythical beast for 3 years now and those of us who know all of Rhett and Link's story know how iconic they are! I'm so glad they are being recognized for their work. No one really mentioned it either but their community is comprised of individuals who are sent on a mission to be our "mythical best." They show us that example every day really, and especially through components like Gifticality and in LTAT when they signed off with "Be Your Mythical Best." It's just so positive and inclusive, and I love being part of a community that cares. Rhett and Link and the Mythical Crew have really fostered that.

This was an exceptional interview. Mostly from the humility showcased by Colin&Samir, and the graciousness of some of the greatest titans of internet content. This wasn't really an interview by the halfway mark, it became a very genuine conversation between mentor and student. What a great episode you guys and the team.

The best way to handle the show is to give it to someone who’s been with it for a while. I think Josh + Emily or Stevie+Chase would be the ideal for a renewed GMM post R+L

For sure they might just need to accept that it needs to end when they leave instead of letting it carry on as a shadow of its former self. No dissing to the talented crew, but I have a feeling a majority of fans still stick around for Rhett and Link.

@@chandler_martian by the time they retire,in probably 8 years time or so, the "Rhett and Link" Fans will be nearly 30 years old,and fans that their garnering right now (which should be considered) of mainly teenagers will be 21 atleast. The show would be able to garner a new base, since the old base mainly would have moved on,especially the resources that the business "Mythical" itself has.

You guys do a great job in legitimizing these KZread creators and how this is the way forward for media. Especially for the older generations who just aren't used to it and don't fully understand. These big channels are just like any other business in a lot of ways. Even if it seems silly on the surface, once you get to a certain level of popularity, it is a full production. Pretty cool stuff.

It's fascinating that there's this whole pocket of youtube that I've never encountered before. I'm literally discovering these massively successful creators through Colin and Samir. I had somehow never heard of Rhett and Link/GMM. Same with Ryan Trahan. It's fascinating to get a deep dive into these successful creators as a "first time viewer." Keep up the great work, guys.

There's a similar phrase to Samir's idea from 9:52 in Pirkei Avot (ethical jewish teachings) which says "If I am not for myself, who is for me? If I am only for myself, what am I? And if not now, when?" I learned this quote in the context of Tikkun Olam (healing the world) but overall it's about an obligation to act on one's beliefs , and the mindset could be applied to acting on one's aspirations
