    Patrick Fabian did such an amazing job as Howard Hamlin. To go from some fake tan douche in the beginning, growing to a sympathetic and broken man to his tragic ending with seemingly near unanimous respect from the audience really takes some acting chops. Plus outside of acting, Patrick seems like a genuinely nice bloke and seeing him just hanging out with other members of the cast and attending events on his social media is just really cool. Thanks for your dedication Patrick, you're a legend.

    Howard Hamlin is one of the best written and played tragic characters I've seen. He underwent a change from being disliked and even hated for being an obstacle for Jimmy (when in reality that obstacle was Chuck), transforming into a man who can bear responsibility for what he has done, to ultimatley being a victim of an elaborate plot crafted by Jimmy and Kim. In the end, I think that both Jimmy and Kim were resposible the most for Howard's death, as Howard wouldn't have been in their apartment if they didn't made a scheme againt him and Lalo wouldn't have been in their apartment, if Jimmy and Kim didn't made ties to an extremly dangerous Cartel. Adding further insult to injury, Howard is buried with his killer, undearneath the meth lab, with his legacy being tarnished forever. Creators of Better Call Saul made Howard an amazing character with an incredible story arc and Patrick Fabian perfectly played him. It's actually so good to see that Patrick and Tony became genuine friends!

    I’ve gotten two hours into the video. I’m not convinced that Cheryl Hamlin was so annoyed by Howard’s positive lifestyle that she made him sleep in the guest house. From what I recall, there isn’t anything that indicates this at all. I think Howard paying Chuck out of his own pocket was what created the big issue between him and Cheryl. This decision likely put a financial strain on both of them and it would be very easy for that financial strain to negatively affect their marriage. And this is not to mention Howard’s insomnia + other depressive symptoms. A lot of people talk about the Hamlin marital problems as if their marriage was literally ending or something. But given how Cheryl reacts to Howard’s death (and she doesn’t seem to have a new husband years later) I’m willing to bet the marriage simply had a rough patch that (if Howard had lived longer) they would have recovered from

  • @dogmapile5832

    @dogmapile5832

    I disagree. The fact that he was sleeping in a separate house on their property and no longer permitted by Cheryl to attend social functions by her side really suggests a rift so great that it's far worse than just a "rough patch."

    I still want more from this universe. Anyone who claims they don’t is kidding themselves. The feeling of finally being able to watch a new BCS episode, sometimes after years of waiting, was unlike anything else for me.

  • @lowryder259

    @lowryder259

    9 ай бұрын

    I think most claims that they don't want more comes more from the fear of wearing itself out and not standing up to the quality of BB and BCS. Myself included in this. If we could 100% know without a single doubt that another entry to this universe would be just as good or better, of course everyone would want more! But that's never a guarantee with this stuff, and frankly I'd rather it forever be just these two series than have one that comes in and puts a blemish on the whole thing. And yes while you can just ignore/personally retcon a new series you don't like, it's not always an easy thing for some people to do. Simply having the knowledge of these other events or characters that are strongly tied to BB and BCS can make it easy to be reminded of it when relevant moments occur upon watching/discussing the series again...

Not saying Brock doesn’t remember him, but years down the road idk if I see Brock wanting to really look for him when even though he liked having Jesse dating his mom, the poor kid probably has so much pain and trauma with his moms death that maybe even thinking of Jesse hurts too much.

Still, in an age of ever-shortening attention spans, that's high praise for this, the first video of yours I've come across. And strong incentive for me to check out the rest of your library. Howard was always a character I found interested and you really did him justice here. I like how this didn't devolve into just a recap of the story, even just from his POV, but included that with plenty of deeper analysis. In effect, this did end up covering the entire 'law' side of BCS, since he was so integral to everything the whole way through. He was human like everyone in the Gilliganverse, but also undoubtedly one of the best people, so of course he was punished for that.

    watching this after the nacho one, it feels like howard acts because chuck is there watching similarly to how nacho acts to beat up his friend due to hector watching. the two scenes feel quite comparable in that way

    I've watched a few other of your 📷 vids this week and I have to say, for how long and detailed they are. Your videos are extremely insightful, adding your own thoughts to a near verbatim script. Most importantly you make them entertaining.

    I forgot how complex better call Saul truly was. Thank you for giving the love to Howard that I feel like many people didn’t have for him the first watch of BCS. your retrospective really shows how convoluted every relationship is in this show and how much he effected everyone in the storyline. I also love too how we the viewers see Jimmy and Kim as the main characters and wanting to side with them because of this, you prove to us now how they evolve to terrible criminals and people that we come to hate. They may not have physically pulled the trigger on Howard but they tainted his name that will forever be remembered. And that I feel is almost worst. Love the content!!!

    It's factually accurate for him to have referenced the Lord of the Rings films, but he also very well could have been referencing the books, which had been out for decades at that point lol

    This reminds me of another video in shorter format about “Most tragic character - Howard Hamlin” being the victim during the entire series.

    I feel for Howard, there are people out there who hate me personally just because I stood up for a friend who was too afraid to stand up for themselves. It’s a little different but I know what it’s like to be hated by someone I don’t personally have a problem with just because my friend was too intimidated to speak for themselves

    Howard is a masterclass in making the audience think they are getting a yuppie snob character but in actuality is a very decent wholesome person at the end of it all.

    Howard became my favorite character during the third season, so seeing him constantly get bullied was already really painful to watch, before Season 6 even started. It's been 2 years since the mid-season finale but rewatching that episode is still difficult for me.
