This is a pretty great video. Not gonna lie having read the books and played the games I've always been a bit confused about the true cannon between them due to the overlap and differences between them. I also recall the metro 2034 novel was actually Homer's interpretation of those events, not what actually happened, at least according to Sarah in metro 2035. So just wanted know if this video is a reading of the official cannon or your own head cannon?

The immersion of the metro games (especially exodus) is incredible. Having to make sure you change the filters every 5 minutes when your mask is on. Having to constantly charge the batteries of your flashlight or it will start to dim. Having to wipe off your mask when blood gets on it. Things that seem like busywork to outside observers but when playing make you feel like you yourself are in a wasteland. Add in the minimal and mostly diegetic ui (see: The Watch) and you have a game you can get lost in.

@@WiseFish Now, the author Dmitriy Glukhovsky has been denounced as a “foreign agent” by the communist-KGB Bunker Scum and his bloody-Rashist criminal bunch and put on the wanted list for supporting Ukraine and its people and speaking out against the war unleashed by the Kremlin. And the MASTERS who turned his book into a masterpiece are UKRAINIAN ONES! By the way, the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R has been created by the Ukrainian IT-specialists as well. I honestly like the games more than the books. The books kinda dropped the supernatural angle after the second but the games expanded on it. I think khan was the one who explained that the shadows and ghost remain because humanity literally destroyed the afterlife so they have nowhere to go.

I haven't played the games but I've read all the books and I must say their easily my favorite. They're so long but incredible. I found the more human on human conflict to be more entertaining and gratifying as a story than a supernatural foe, so perhaps I would just prefer the books more

@@marcusayala6933 it's still human on human conflict with a hint supernatural stuff is background stuff. Sort of like in the first book but they have khan take the roll of a shaman and give some exposition. Pretty sure in the first book there was unexplained things like the dark station that drives people insane, the two old men burning books in a abandoned station and the voices in the pipe. The games are like that where as the books drop all supernatural mystic after the first

@@HugoStiglitz88well my understanding of “the great worm” was that, what they thought of as the worm was actually the “blob”. But it is some time since I read the book and maybe I just understood it the wrong way.

8:17 sabot (say-bow) rounds are long, small diameter tungsten kinetic penotrator with stabalising fins at the rear, sabot meaning shoe in French, refers to a sleeve that attaches to the the sabot to keep it centered in the barrel until it leaves at which point the shoe/sabot is discarded. APFSDS (Armout piercing, fin stabilised, discarging sabot). Sadly, sabot rounds do not carry an explosive charge, so the explosion we see most likely would not have been a sabot round.

It's deep enough that you can always miss many details. Like idk how I forgot it but this video saying that Silantius wanted Katya for himself somehow struck me in a way it obviously didn't the first time There's so much to it that forgetting important details is a real possibility For example until he mentioned that Sasha survived Sevastopol station I had forgot that Artyom ended up cheating on Anya with her. Totally forgot about that but it's a big deal because artyom didn't hide it from Anya

I always thought Artyom was two when the bombs fell, just because *SPOILERS* that's what he seems to say in the book, and audiobook when he finds the photograph based on what he recalls from what stepfather tells him. When he finds the photo in the apartment on the surface it says Artyom aged 2, and he says he recognised some of the rooms, and if the photo was just before the bombs fell, even a few weeks before then it could've been him, which always led me me to believe Artyom had his second birthday a few weeks before the bombs hit Moscow and his family was evacuated underground. But then again his sense of time is sceptical as he says it could've been a year or two by the time he gets round the metro, but then when he arrives home you find out it's been about one week, and that air of Artyom being cold, shrivelled and sleep deprived turns into Artyom complaining about being mildly cold and in danger whilst sleeping so much he lost all sense of time (relatable), because my word does he get knocked out a lot in book one, between leaving and returning to his first station... which can't be good for his head.

I like it where games takes point of views of genres in other lights. Such as post apocalyptic world, but not in your normal westernized city of North America. Maybe in a rural area, or in this case, the crowded tight spaced metro systems(excluding exodus a lot of the times). Besides, I always like to see games do this. Resident Evil takes place in multiple countries which gives the games more personality. RE4 compared to RE7 are entirely different in gameplay, speed, and location feels. I am going to have this in my playlsit to listen to while driving on tandom occations.

Only thing that would make this video better is having the song "The Metro" by Berlin in the background.

The Hanza in the book are said to have a copy of "The wealth of Nations" in a glass container in the city. It's suggested that they are heavily based off of this book and are often called capitalists. The Reich symbol only has 3 arms in the game and in the book; when artyom asks his captor who is a Reich soldier why their "cross" only has three arms, the guard says that it is all they need as they consist of 3 stations, and they may be based off of a past government, but they are their own entity - a reactionary "evolution" of National socialism if you will, and he also says that if they capture another station (either Hanza or Artyoms home I don't remember) they can add a fourth one.

Thank you for including the 2035 book because there are major differences btw the book and game. Also the game didn't included alot of adult or more terrible stuff that happeend in the book...but i understand why they did that, to appeal to a larger audience. I like the game and the books. The ending for exodus is wholesome while the ending from the book is more close to reality. I wonder if we will ever see a continuation....for the game and book...i hope so...

I don't know about anyone else but I just find it comical that in a post apocalyptic world where everything has been destroyed and governments are gone, somehow some way that Jehovah witness has survived just to annoy the s*** out of everyone, but after watching this video it really makes me want a metro TV show done right no wokeness and by the people that did Chernobyl mini series, and who knows we might actually get it if the fallout TV show doesn't wind up sucking.

The tanks that fired at the metro was not trying to keep the people out but letting the people in. They would've used High Explosive or just machine gunned down the civilians if they were trying to keep the people out.

I was raised by jahovahs witnessess. The watchtower is also their core organization in the states. So seeing that faction name made me do a double take. Fun fact. They used to be necromancers. They dont like it when you bring that up.

I remember that when reading the books I was really saddened by the end of 2024 when Saša died, she didn't have to, and everyone was trying to do what they though was best, which got many people killed. Next book I wished she really died there, what a sad life for her honestly...

I was thinking the same thing for the next metro game. The gang goes back to Moscow to show them proof that there are clean places outside of Moscow and that the invisible watchers are keeping them there in the dark It could be half open world as you travel back to Moscow and half old school metro style in the tunnels.

Should ever come another novel or game for the extension of this timeline following Artyom and his accompanies, I fear the whole "Metro"-thing could not be fully realized because they are already out of the metro. Yeah, exodus was already a bit out of title, luckily the Nowosibirsk arc was just great. I wish for a new game in this timeline, I really do, and I hope it will be set largely in dark, uncomfortable metro tunnels, but I cant think of any way they could pull this off, sadly..

I played Metro Exodus expecting a FPS shoot 'em up. I did not expect to be captured by the relationship between Artyom and Anna. I was taken aback by scenes where I could just sit and talk and have her rest her head on my lap, etc. Hadn't seen that in a game before. Is there a similar modern game like this that leans heavily into this kind of relationship?
