I came back to the game after not playing for like 4 years The battles are CHAOTIC I get destroyed by these strange new turrets everytime, that can kill you even far away and behind cover Every one using supplies, everything is buyable, everything for the money I hate the augments, overdrives, drones, f*cking flying hulls ,new weapons etc (yes I’m maybe doing too much) When there’s a whole game created to match the old version of their game, they should question themselves

Protanki is a community of players that made the entire old game, 2014-2017 edition before all the p2w aspects. I agree the state of the original tanki is sad, I loved custom parkour games and the like.

It was a great game. Started playing when the "blue sphere" was there in 2011. Premium account was the nail in the coffin and it went downhill from there

Man i grinded TO for hours straight since 2011 every summer i went to visit my relatives in Georgia and every summer i made a new acc because i forgot the password of the previous one. Had sooooo much fun. I remember playing moon silence 24/7 and being overwhelmed not knowing what those lightning turrets were that could heal themselves by shooting the air and sucking me off and still having a blast. Those "tower" type maps where u had to drive up to enemies, future, year 2042(?), industrial zone, this other industrial zone type map with a buiöfing witj a destroyed slanted roof and shit, madness, rio 24/7. In 2015 i finally had an account and enough brain to remember my password and i dtill habe this acc to this day. In 2015 ot was still fun and so many people played, how excited i was bc i got m1 isida for free when they merged the old micro upgrades into singular ones that upped everything, bc i had maxed out ranged before with crystals i grinded endless for. How i grinded halloween event to get this free 7 days premium i never used. But then then every summer it got worse, with overdrives, no individual country servers, no lobbies, shitty ass garbage hover and flying turrets, stuns, augments, lootboxes and holy shit druggers/drugging got out of hand. I just started playing again cuz im in Georgia rn for the first time in like 5 years and im bored+ no Pc so i play the mobile version. But man the game is so fucking mid, new shitty auto aim turrets andnother shit and now they wanna ad grenades. Wtf??? They absolutely destroyed it. Worst, greedy devs ever and thats coming from someone who played Overwatch bruh. But the most depressing part is seeing my FL full of people i used to play (custom games/parkour) with, that are all offline for YEARS. 2 years ago when i checked previously for the last timei could see it all, but now it seems they even remove that and deleted everyone whos been offline for more than a year. Probably gonna give it a shot when im on my pc again, bc mobile sucks giga ass and u cant even do customs, but thats probably not gonna make it the slightest better. And i aint even got someone to play with for fun. RIP TO, almost a full decade ago u were the goat game. Thank u for this amazing vid

There is still old version of tanki, like revive tanki or something it's called. new html design is for toddlers who can't comprehend texture and prefer hollow colors with bulky 3d animations that nobody asked for. If you see the new design of turrets/hulls, smoky and dictator look way less intimidating, they look like toys. And removing m1/2/3 upgrade styles makes 0 sense... it was so fun to see my turrets visually progress as I upgraded to m2/3. Good times.

Imagine my reaction after hearing my thoughts on the game for the past 5-6 years in a Yt video and from a fellow tanker. Just wish this kind of content was actually pushed more both before all of this happened (flying hulls, p2w augments, critical hits, etc.) and during the implementation of certain things that, as you very well pointed out, were absolutely unnecessary. I just feel like the devs couldn't figure out a better way to make us understand something obvious to older, more mature people but not so much to younger players: it might be a game for you to enjoy, but it needs investment (aka money) to keep functioning and so we need people to pay for stuff. I feel like in a couple things they pressed the right button and, for example, made something available only for Tankoins (aka real money) that did NOT significantly affect the overall experience and playability mid and towards endgame. But in more than half the things they implemented, they definitely showed both greediness and honestly lack of business making, not just in the sense of positive/negative effect on the game and playerbase's reception, but in leveraging this game's potential. And by that I mean this: Tanki could have been an excellent eSports game played and known by many more people than it is now and much earlier, even switching over to other consoles like PlayStation, but... Does anyone remember the devs saying they had plans for that? Well, let's just say those plans had the same success that Tanki X... Very bad way to waste such potential in a game that, within its genre, was destined to be the greatest for many years to come and, as I mentioned, potentially played competitively like other videogames nowadays, only to be poisoned by greed and mainstream money-drainig ideas (skins, premium pass, p2w items/mechanics...)

I used to play with jumping "hacks" in the past. then, devs managed and removed all hacks from the game and noooowwww they added hopper that can jump?!!!!!

When I came back to my account and all my turrets and halls looked like they were maxed, I was so excited and then I looked And they were not, I was so confused and disappointed. I remember having that bloody white skin and thinking it was so cool Also, if I remember correctly, mines didn't dspawn. "I could go on" GGs Boys!!!

I thought i was going crazy! I knew that mines didnt go away (at least im pretty sure), but they were expensive af and rarely used. I always mined this tunnel below on the desert town map (dont remember the name)

I still play Tanki Online in its current state. I ONLY still play because I have a maxed out legend 50 account. I would NOT recommend anyone to play this game from the beginning ranks. It is NOT worth it. I have moved on and play games like Overwatch 2, etc. I recommend TO players do the same. Great video LineNine.

I started playing in 2011, Was really disappointed with the 2012 rebalance, but I picked it up again in the end of 2013, Vulcan and hammer were pretty good additions but magnum was just really not fun to play against. I tried logging in last time only to find out my country (Holland) has blocked the game in the country because laws against online gambling (lootboxes) so tanki just shut it off in those countries. I can still enter from VPN but holy shit everything went to hell. (drones, flying hulls) After that I started playing other games but I will never forget this game, and I'll never forget the fun times I've had. Rip Tanki

Nonestly, overdrives (except for dictator's which was there before), augments, protection modules and the greed was what ruined the game. Cant forget drones aswell.

I’ve played this game since it first started…and was even part of the “team” as a Consultant Tanker (we were the first to use the orange Microchip paint!) and it really is a shame what’s happened to it…

I had a clan and never paid Tanki for it. I didn't pay for most things in Tanki. We had 20 members from all over the world had to have practices but we did have a successful tournament that the players were rewarded by gold boxes supplied by me the clan leader.

Sport mode is very fun today

Thats not the fault of protanki obviously, but that just comes with having something as significant (to me at least) as tanki just being rebranded and repackaged. Then again, that could just be my nostalgia and rose tinted glasses, because really what it probably is is just that I wont be able to get my old memories back and that sucks. But you make a good point.

this is like world of tanks blitz lol. it used to be fun and they gave out good tanks for events that were easy and actually doable. no events make it so you can only get the first stages but gets incredibly harder to get making it harder to get the main reward. they still give free tanks for easy events as well but not good ones.

Tanki is not as bad as it seems, yes, its still a pay to win place, but not many people are buying premium, as you can get ot for free in events, and as recent devlogs said, they'll remove drones completely. And as for the containers, you get many from just playing everyday, and nobody buys containers anyway. They have been doing some cool HD remastered maps, and they are multiplying the rewards when the new key update drops. You(the reader) could give it a try, but obviously most features are locked behind ranks, so you can't speedrun, only newbs do so.

August 2023 Bot only battles until you reach like sergeant or something, and you can’t play as teams until then either… I still play with a friend from back in the glory days when Isda healed yourself😂 But boy I really miss being able to buy the guns you wanted instead of having to wait to unlock them in boxes…🙄

Tanki will probably one day shut down due to lack of players, even if this game is no longer popular anymore, I still used to play this only a little just for fun

i know it’s been over a year since this was posted but frankly i’m kinda bugged by the pacing of this video. aside from playing out entire trailers (which you definitely could’ve cut shorter or simply removed), i really wish you spent more time talking about the downfall and going more into depth, because it deserved equal if not more discussion than the history of the game leading up to the start of the fall (which imo was intro of premium). personally i really feel like you could’ve talked more about tanki x and its gameplay/features/differences/similarities from TO, since it definitely played a huge part in tanki’s descent to hell even after it was discontinued (mostly because it was likely a huge loss for the company -> more corporate greed that players would suffer thru). i think it would’ve definitely been worth discussing the container system and its changes over time as well, because i’d argue the reduction of f2p rewards is another huge factor of the game dying. the devolution of the shop over time, such as the introduction of gold box supplies, tankoins, and removal of crystal kits should have been mentioned a LOT more too. core features to the game like overdrives and augments weren’t mentioned at all either, and other important changes like drones and the death of flash had such a large impact on the popularity and gameplay quality that you definitely could’ve discussed them more. maybe it was because of the false advertising of the video, but i was generally disappointed that this was hardly a “full” discussion of the history/fall of the game. though i strongly agree that this game really has gone to shit for the better part of a decade now.

@@linenine listen, I came back to this game as a 2013-year player, and I managed to understand every single mechanic (except Tesla) from the second I touched it. The gameplay is now more dynamic than ever, with all these players swooping around the map with drones and Hoppers. I bet my left testicle that I can take down a bunch of current Legend players, since some of them don't even know how to turn a turret (lmao). And I even came back to my old second account which was created back in 2015 I think, and even there I swooped some asses easily thanks to return rewards. I don't know what is hard here for y'all to have fun and fair and original games, I got used to this after like years of not playing. Must be huge skill issue I think

I dont like the hull-based overcharges or whatever theyre called and I just dont enjoy it. Great that you enjoy it. I dont, along with many others. At that point, it has to be a little more than a skill issue.

It is a product of fast human evolution, just like new hulls, turrets and game mechanics. I was getting scared when people were mentioning very scary players on flying hulls on like Warrant Officer 5 rank with a bunch of newbies, but when I decided to play it, suddenly, I became the same god damn Warrant Officer 5 playing with a bunch of newbies. And guess what, this was the first time I genuinely got enjoyment out of this game. If I were to play this game in like the times when you had to grind 3000 stars just to complete a battle pass or when containers were a P2W feature, I would've agreed with everything you all are saying about this game. But nowadays? This just feels like y'all are just mourning over the past things when your Third Lieutenant account was demolishing lower-rank players on your only M2 tank with paints that defended against most OP turrets in the game back in the 2013-2014 or whatever

I got back and they gave me 31 days of premium, and with Ultra Weekend I racked up 1 000 000 Crystals from ultra containers, and extended the premium time to 41 days because I did daily missions and all the missions in the list. I have never paid in this game and I think now it's alot easier to earn crystals than before in eras like 2010-2019, this is due to the fact that back then you needed to grind the life out of every battle to get as much crystals as possible. I don't know what made them giveaway free premium and make ultra containers easy to get, but now basically everybody is rich ingame so it's equalized for me.
