Kimble risks getting caught to save a stranger's life, which tells us exactly what kind of man he is. Gerard begins to realize his fugitive is an altruistic doctor instead of an evil killer. Brilliant character development!

Yes. Just rewatched the Siskel & Ebert review of this movie and they mention that. No words, just a movement of the eyes, a change in facial expression, and you see that Gerard is starting to realize all is not as it seems.

And right after Julianne Moore's character leaves, Renfro comes over to Gerard saying, "Why would Kimble be hanging around here with everybody looking for him?" Then a one-armed man walks past the two of them to the prosthetics department right down the hall. They both have an "Oh sh*t!" look on their faces.

Unfortunately, it happens more often than you think, especially in the many jam-packed hospitals around the globe! Due to understaffed emergency rooms hospitals sometimes put residents at the beginning of their first year in those life or death situations. And even good doctors are no unbreakable gods in white and make oversights after 17hrs shift like this. For a young boy it won't make a difference in the end, if the doc is unobservant he won't make it. But the major problem is the system not the doctor!

Obstruction of Justice (refusing to be arrested) 4. Vandalism of window. 5. Practicing medicine without a license. 6. Forgery 7. Kidnapping. 8. Burglary 9. Felon in Possession of a firearm. 10. Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Deputy. The list is endless. He would go back to prison as he deserves. If you feel you have new evidence, file a motion for a new trial. And lastly, old man, stop flying your plane before you kill someone.

When Julian Moore first appeared in this movie, I remember thinking this must be the female lead of the film ..there's an immediate star power and maturity and weight in her acting that does not befit a bit role in any movie .. but when she fails to show up for the second half of the movie, I thought "this girl can't stay long in unnoticeable roles, I was almost certain very soon she's going to be discovered and be a heavyweight actress" ..

Ironically, from what I read, she was originally intended to be the female lead but the producers cut out her scenes because they made the film too long and messed with the tight suspenseful pacing. Kathy Wayland, the blond doctor that helps Kimble later in the film (played by a young Jane Lynch) was initially going to be set up as a future love interest for Kimble by the end of the movie as well, but the producers thought it looked bad that Kimble would be having a relationship while still seeking justice for his wife. On the plus side, Moore's role in this got her her role in The Lost World: Jurassic Park and then things picked up from there.

All part of a great movie. One of my favorites. Tough to turn away from the TV when it's on. They built up his character so well. Made the audience root for him, while the Marshall's had to stick to their jobs, returning him to prison, while the were slowly realizing the man couldn't possibly be a murder. Brilliant script, with brilliant acting!!

Speaking as a former training family doctor I can tell you that the child had a punctured lung- a pneumothorax - which would have killed him. The chest film gave that away in seconds. What I find incredible that Kimble put himself in terrible danger to save the life of a child,. He risked getting caught and being taken back into federal custody. Even Deputy Gerrard would have noticed something when he asked "how is the boy doing?" He would have realised this is a doctor- not a killer. The junior female doctor said, "saved his life." A real hero in every sense of the word.

Into my own life I took part of Girard and Kimble. They are each incredibly talented, smart and able to see and just know things others do not even understand until they're saying "ohhhh, now I see" You can see him ask about the boy for 2 reasons. He is becoming his own worst enemy, believing a criminal and fugitive wanted for murder is actual not capable. Girard sees psychos all day, he knows the difference. Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones this is a masterpiece by them both.

I'm gonna say two things: #1: Jillian Moore is adorable. #2: Both David Jansen - Who played Richard Kimble in the 1960s series - and Tim Daly - Who played Richard Kimble in the 2000 series - both did a good job in the role. But neither one can compare with Harrison Ford. There was just a decency about his portrayal that neither actor could match. Plus having grown up with Harrison Ford's version of the character, perhaps I am a little bias.

This movie was one of the best of the 1990s! So much nuance, drama and a reasonable plot, pulled together perfectly. I hate being negative but modern movies don't do it for me, they rely far too much on CGI and over the top stunts. If this movie were made in 2024, it would have some sort of action hero subplot.

What I loved about this scene was, it was most like the TV show. The movie had to be an action film to get it done in two hours, whereas the TV show dragged on for 150 hours, so the David Jansen Kimble had time to be a concerned human being.

This is the scene that you find from all the great 'wandering man' shows. How often did Bill Bixby as Dr. David Banner risk exposure so that he could help someone. This is the quintessential moment of these stories and why they were classics. This movie understood why Richard Kimble was a doctor, why that was ever part of the character.
