Welcome to another Fake Amp Friday! Today, we're diving deep into a plugin that's changing the game in the world of amp modeling. I'm about to introduce you to the Neural Amp Modeler plugin by the brilliant Steven Atkinson. This plugin, fueled by AI-driven deep learning, promises to challenge the biggest names in the game like Kemper, Quad Cortex, and more. Oh and also, did I mention that it's completely FREE?! But can it truly live up to the hype? Let's find out if this is the amp modeler we've all been waiting for!
There's a bit of buzz on the internet about the Neural Amp Modeler plugin so I wanted to put it to the test. I''m taking you through my unfiltered first encounter with the Neural Amp Modeler plugin. We'll dissect its sound and performance to see how it stacks up. And I think you're going to like it. This amp modeler is SO good.
Then I'll take you through the NAM plugins modeling website called "Tone Hunt." Inside, you'll discover an array of thousands of free Amp Models, IRs, and pedals to find the perfect guitar tone you've been looking for.
Ready to get hands-on? I'm guiding you step by step through seamlessly integrating the Neural Amp Modeler into your DAW setup. Get the insider tips on selecting amps and IRs for that sweet spot sound.
What about pedals? Let's push the boundaries and connect my pedalboard directly into the Neural Amp Modeler plugin to see how the models hold up when pedals are introduced to the equation. Will it sound the same as my real amp?
Finally, we'll close out with some Pros and Cons for the Neural Amp Modeler and spend some time reflecting on how far amp modeling technology has come. We're in an era where the Neural Amp Modeler could redefine the game. I'm excited about the tech, and how AI Deep Learning can change the game of guitar amplifier modeling.

I'm not sure if it's "fair" to cite a paid vst, but IMO, "Amp Room" by the dev "Soft Tube" (sic..?) is my fave, soundswise. Particularly the Fenders and Voxes, I can dial in/nail the cruddy, disgusting, rebellious-sounding "edge of distortion" sounds I need in order to perpetuate the 1 and 1/2-chord "I wannabe 1966" garage rock "songs" I do.

Great rundown! I think I agree it might have the slightest edge over ToneX/NeuralDSP in terms of sound quality/realism. The open source nature of NAM is so intriguing...really feel like the first company to implement this into a well-executed hardware pedal will be sitting on a gold mine! Poly effects is working on implementing it into their firmware for the Beebo and should be available really soon - eager to see how that goes.

Nice video man, you got pretty damn good sounds. I've been using it for a good while now. Just to add on the "portability" of it I've also been messing around with the NAM port on the poly Beebo (ig it's open source), and it already sounds great though it's still just beta firmware. It's great though, just a little research on tonehunt and you're set. Fairly futuristic ngl, now you can basically record a fairly pro sounding song with just a guitar and sme cables

I wanted to point out something about the cons-- this product is supposed to be for studio usage, so having a less-than-intuitive setup of plugin to website to VST package to folder to DAW, is pretty normal! I think today musicians are spoiled by the convenience of plug-and-play pedals and software, but I think putting a few minutes of thought into how you want to set this product up will help you prepare for recording with it. Gigging with NAM would be cool, but that's specifically what TONEX is designed for.

Also, if you have multiple guitarists, you can run multiple cabs with this. And you can even have different cabs for different songs even if you're just one singular guitarist. I see no downside to this in terms of lugging gear. Its hella compact.
