The Four Horsemen HD: Hour 1 of 2 - Discussions with Richard Dawkins, Ep 1

Ғылым және технология

richarddawkins.net - On the 30th of September 2007, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Sam Harris and Christopher Hitchens sat down for a first-of-its-kind, unmoderated 2-hour discussion, convened by RDFRS and filmed by Josh Timonen.
All four authors have recently received a large amount of media attention for their writings against religion - some positive, and some negative. In this conversation the group trades stories of the public's reaction to their recent books, their unexpected successes, criticisms and common misrepresentations. They discuss the tough questions about religion that face the world today, and propose new strategies for going forward.
This video is provided free online by The Richard Dawkins Foundation for Reason and Science (RDFRS) and RichardDawkins.net . In this decade many of those who constituted my culture of thinking will be aging out ;( Those 15 years from this discussion have gone blindingly fast. Every old videos from Peterson to Hitch from Ted to podcasts are like postcards from past like great books, a nice poem from the specific period of our lives. Hi 'Sok--01', I miss Hitchens too; but since I am both an Atheist as well as an Existential, I well understand that though he(The Master) is no longer 'with-us'; he gave us his whole Being while here. We alone realize he actually is 'NoWhere'(see the organic disperse-ment of our own atoms and elements)--when we 'die' and rot-away, but NoLonger here. Master-Beings such as Mister Hitchens is otherwise 'extended' in leaps-and-bounds by those of us who fondly followed and remember him.

Manitou, they are just four fools. Hitch who pretends to know the bible as he screws up on it over and over again including what faith means biblically. ---"Faith is the surrender of the mind, it's the surrender of reason, it's the surrender of the only thing that makes us different from other animals. It's our need to believe and to surrender our skepticism and our reason, our yearning to discard that and put all our trust or faith in someone or something, that is the sinister thing to me. ... Out of all the virtues, all the supposed virtues, faith must be the most overrated”--- Christopher Hitchens Now, look at what biblical faith really means that Hitch the dumbass didn't even look at: Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust by evidence seen. God asks that we prove things. To reason. To get knowledge. To study. God has nothing to hide. We develop trust from what is seen, and that which is not seen yet is trusted also because of the trust built up from what is seen. It's much like a human relationship. We don't trust much until a person has gained that trust from what is observed. The difference is though, God is not limited to human powers. He created us. Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. crossexamined.org/biblical-faith-vs-blind-faith/ www.truthortradition.com/articles/what-does-the-bible-say-about-faith www.revisedenglishversion.com/Appendix/16/Faith_is_Trust www.truthortradition.com/articles/faith-a-confident-expectation-of-gods-promises-coming-to-pass www.truthortradition.com/articles/hebrews-1-11-and-faith Hitchens always went into evasive word farting to avoid key questions like how we got the creation of the universe. Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it. We can't even get science without God. The laws of nature only can come from a Lawgiver, God. Only fools follow dumbass Hitchens.

There’s a good chance that these craft might have been around for decades and possibly thousands of years. He says ‘we may owe some people an apology’. The truth that they exist is now rolling out in the US after decades of denial, and they (wisely IMHO) have got thinkers like Sam Harris to help brief it out to the masses. If you are familiar with the Christmas song by Chris Deberg ‘A spaceman came travelling’ it spells it out exactly. How am I so sure these craft exist? Well I saw one albeit for only 4 secs one evening in the 70’s. I’ve been waiting for over 50 years for the great fess up to take place. Humanity needs to know at last.

They suggest "the gods" give these tools, but I prefer the term "higher power", whom I make no claims as to their characteristics other than as the original spark that got the whole thing moving. Do you believe that you choose to push food through your digestive system? Are you responsible for every blink of your eye? Did you choose the conditions of your birth, including your parents and region you were born in? Do you leave no room in your world for a creator or even a narrator of sorts of the events in your life which you have no control over? Does the fact that this world was created imply a creator? Forget about all the fantastical abilities ascribed to such a creator being but various religions, but can we at least agree that the big bang occurred and that at least is worth giving thanks for? Imagine if it had not transpired. @@pranavlimaye "Boom, gotcha." All you've got is a dumb ass syndrome. "In an afterlife?" Just as I said, the dumbass is dead. He's not anywhere. There is no conscience. Even Christians are DEAD. Rather than explain anything to a bozo like you, show that you know what the bible is saying. For years I used to go through verses you dumbasses have no idea what you're talking about and clarify things in not only the context, but the whole picture. Then the dumbasses would just deny it all even though they had no proof why and go to anther bible subject they were dumbasses about. The bible says the fools have no delight in understanding. This shows even with the beginning, creation. Fools set their pattern from the beginning that they don't care about being logical, honest and scientific in their approach to the evidence, they just want what they want and to hell with truth. So, show that you cherish a good pattern about creation and what follows.Show that you went through the bible and just didn't jump around but started with a logical process. Did you ever read the first verse of the bible about the supernatural creation done by the supernatural creator, God? If you want to mock God, then you should have great evidence that creation happened all on its own. There is NO proof of that. Only a fool will even think that and accept it. Once that's accepted, then all the rest of foolish thoughts not caring about details will follow. Here is a great example of what a fool accepts. They started it by accepting a natural creation and is not embarrassed to show their ignorance from that point on. So if you want to pretend you know what the bible says and took it in a sequential manner to understand it (which generally how books go), then show what a real bible expert you are and how much you love reasoning by giving evidence that creation happened differently from how the bible says it happened.

How are you to understand what happens after life when you don't care to know about why we have this life? Anyone can say anything. There is a logical way to approach things besides your "Blah blah blah,". We have life in this universe, a universe that got here somehow. Are you with me so far or is the hurting your brain capacity? Biblically, faith means trust. It's a trust based on reasonable evidence. Faith (trust) comes by hearing the word of God. I don't trust God because I could disprove what He said in the bible. You don't like me saying how the bible starts with a supernatural creation. You fart out, "you got nothing and are just deflecting from that. Go away." I already said "So if you want to pretend you know what the bible says and took it in a sequential manner to understand it (which generally how books go), then show what a real bible expert you are and how much you love reasoning by giving evidence that creation happened differently from how the bible says it happened." Richard's mind is so amazing. That question about 55:30 around "if you decide that fooling people is better than harming them with facts, do you also apply that to yourself and fool yourself?" is exactly how to put a sharp point on this issue. If you would not fool yourself and still like to fool others, what does that say about your opinion of others? I think that Hitch really gets this, and that is why he was a no holds barred critic. That is the only respectful position to take, no matter how you cut it.

Of course they don't. Most of them are funded by various states. Few bite the hand that feeds them. In part 2, Hitch even specifically states that people have "confirmation bias" in how they might hate statism, but still cough up the rental fees. He even says that this is a way in which confirmation bias is useful!?

The element of it which I wish wasn't ignored is that the shepherd doesn't do so for his love of the lives of the sheep, but rather so he can take their wool and eat their flesh. In the end, the key difference between shepherd and wolf is that the wolf never tries to convince the sheep they won't be eaten.
