The Forgotten History of Psychedelics with with Author Brian C. Muraresku

Were the Ancient Greek and Roman philosophers tripping? Was everybody from Pythagoras to Plato, Cicero to Marcus Aurelius, initiated into visionary knowledge? In his New York Times bestselling book The Immortality Key, Brian brings new evidence to light for the sacred use of psychedelics across the Greek, Roman and early Christian worlds.

I have been through many Ayahuasca ceremonies. I was completely lost in life and heavily dependent upon alcohol prior to seeking help in the Peruvian Amazon. I quit the booze and found a passion for studying physiology. Seven years later I discovered from my own research that I have curable terminal disease that was missed by multiple doctors. Accepting Ayahuasca into my life was both brutal and profound, it gave me a second chance at life.

John4:10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” ... 13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” ... 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe (_white_ KJV) for harvest. 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”

I also saw my mother who is still alive but she was very old in my vision. Fast forward 10 years later I was at a confirmation listening to a priest say when you see the Virgin Mary you will see what appears to be your mother. All these things blow my mind lol

Utilizing psychedelics in an effort to reach a higher spirituality is a fruitless path that only leads to self delusion, not revelation. Psychedelics can only provide a cheap, false mirage for true spiritual attainment. Mind-altering chemicals cannot bring anyone to a positive spiritual plane. Participation is simply spiritual self-delusion, otherwise known as "prelest". Chemically induced changes in perception (whether limited to those that are sensory or not, cannot help to assist in achieving Theosis (meaning synergy with God, by participating in the Divine Energy, but not the Essence of God). Theosis requires purification. Purification requires repentance and humility. The Holy Spirit will not inhabit that which is unclean. Psychedelia is in no way, shape or form a substitution for these things. The speaker has an Orthodox background, whether he knows it or not (his last name is Romanian). For someone who mentions the motto of the Monks of Athos as the first thing he does ("We come here to die so that when we die, we won't die) without mentioning it's Orthodox origin is quite strange. Especially so since the speaker's central thesis is to obsfucate and muddy flimsily accounted for historic evidence of pagan based pyschedelic use with that celebrated during the Divine Liturgy. Anyone with a basic understanding of Orthodox theology can see how deluded this is.

This is how you elevate Eastern Orthodoxy in public speech? In case you didn’t notice, the assembled heretics are not enamored of orthodoxy. We are gathered here for a public stoning of orthodoxy, metaphorically. Unlike every orthodox tradition, healing requires respect for lived experience. As Brian's book elucidates, fungal sacraments extend back long before ancient Egypt and Jews, likely to primordial Atlantis itself - the mother culture from which occult knowledge streamed globally. Similar shamanic values existed amongst pre-dynastic Egyptians and Sinai desert Jews indicates perhaps an ancient shared line of entheogenic wisdom, symbolized by serpents, trees, magical chariot ride visions, and coded references to psychotropic manna and temple adornments that initiated priest-kings since the beginning. Canonical adherence to state theology obscured direct discussion. But Brian convincingly surfaces and decodes the Egyptian, Cannanite, early Judaic role preserving use of psychedelics for accessing divinity indwelling life's aboriginal mystery.

This may seem unrelated, but I promise it will in the end. And I'll try and make it as short as possible, with a massive subject. When I look at The Secret Book of John, also known as The Apophrycon of John, which is an early Gnostic Christian text that survived being almost wiped out by the new Roman authorities over religion, I see a metaphysical side that bears great resemblance to the complexities of Hinduism and Buddhism, which is nowhere to be found in the Old (Septuagint) or New Testaments. Construction of the Human Body The seven Powers began to work: . Goodness made a psyche of bone Providence made a psyche of sinew Divinity made a psyche of flesh Lordship made a psyche of marrow Kingdom made a psyche of blood Zeal made a psyche of skin Understanding made a psyche of hair The host of demons took these substances from the Powers to create the limbs and the body itself. They put the parts together and coordinated them. The first ones began by making the head: Abron created his head; Meniggesstroeth created the brain; Asterechme the right eye; Thaspomocha, the left eye; Ieronumos, the right ear; Bissoum, the left ear; Akioreim, the nose; Banenrphroum, the lips; Amen, the front teeth; Ibikan, the molars; Basiliademe, the tonsils; Achcha, the uvula; Adaban, the neck; Chaaman, the neckbones; Dearcho, the throat; Tebar, the shoulder; Mniarcon, the elbow; Abitrion, the right arm; Evanthen, the left arm; Krys, the right hand; Beluai, the left hand; Treneu, the fingers of the right hand; Balbel, the fingers of the left hand; Kriman, fingernails; Astrops, the right breast; Barroph, the left breast; Baoum, the right shoulder joint; Ararim, the left shoulder joint; Areche, the belly; Phthave, the navel; Senaphim, the abdomen; Arachethopi, the right ribs; Zabedo, the left ribs; Barias, the right hip; Phnouth the left hip; Abenlenarchei, the marrow; Chnoumeninorin, the skeleton; Gesole, the stomach; Agromauna, the heart; Bano, the lungs; Sostrapal, the liver; Anesimalar, the spleen; Thopithro, the intestines; Biblo, the kidneys; Roeror, the sinews; Taphreo, the spine; Ipouspoboba, the veins; Bineborin, the arteries; Atoimenpsephei, respiration; Entholleia, the flesh; Bedouk, the right buttock; Arabeei, the penis; Eilo, the testicles; Sorma, the genitals; Gormakaiochlabar, the right thigh; Nebrith, the left thigh; Pserem, the kidneys of the right leg; Asaklas, the left kidney; Ormaoth, the right leg; Emenun, the left leg; Knyx, the right shin; Tupelon, the left shin; Achiel, the right knee; Phnene, the left knee; Phiouthrom, the right foot; Boabel, its toes; Trachoun, the left foot; Phikna, its toes; Miamai, the toenails. And those who were appointed over all of these are: Zathoth, Armas, Kalila, Iabel, Sabaoth, Cain, Abel. The energizing powers in the limbs were divided among: the head made by Diolimodraza; the neck by Yammeax; the right shoulder Yakouib; the left shoulder Verton; the right hand Oudidi; the left Arbao; the fingers of the right hand Lampno; the fingers of the left hand Leekaphar; the right breast Barbar; the left breast Imae; the chest Pisandriaptes; the right shoulder joint Koade; the left shoulder joint Odeor; the right ribs Asphixix; the left ribs Synogchouta; the abdomen Arouph; the womb Sabalo; the right thigh Charcharb; the left thigh Chthaon; the genitals Bathinoth; the right leg Choux; the left leg Charcha; the right shin Aroer; the left shin Toechtha; the right knee Aol; the left knee Charaner; the right foot Bastan; its toes Archentechtha; the left foot Marephnounth; its toes Abrana." This goes on and on, names upon names, functions upon functions. And I look at the names given, and there is no history on their roots or origins, their etymology, beyond this recovered document. Lost. Are they Greek names? Egyptian? Proto-Indo-European? Another civilisation's names? How far do they go back. Why is Phikna in charge of the toes and Miamai, the toenails? Who are these entities??? Why do the Gnostic texts hold vast amounts of references to the origins of humanity, its building, its purpose. And why do they think the god of the old testament is the devil??? And why is it hard to prove that they're not wrong, just by that god's actions??? They have a case! Seeing the efforts made to tie Christianity & Judaism together, into one hybrid ethos, and to destroy everything of the mystery religions, from Eleusis, to Serapis, to Alexandria, EVERYTHING that conflicts with promoting a death and resurrection show, with middlemen guiding your soul, while conducting witchhunts, and executions ... I could go on and on. The effort to suppress a hidden knowledge that seems incredibly important to those that preceded them. Göbekli Tepe SAYS something was here that EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW ABOUT, but "they" are doing everything in their power to make sure no one discovers it. No one questions it. No one digs too deep without suffering punishment of some kind. And the hate campaign against women. I will never ever understand this, but the damage this has done to civilisation, to every society. It has caused women to completely mistrust every man on Earth. Fortunately, not every man agrees with what The Bible's main purpose seems to be. To cause division. To cause break. I didn't write that stuff. I don't agree with it. But I feel the damage is so far gone now, that any reconciliation between Male and Female is going to take another 2,000 years to fix. For what aim???? Is it power, wealth? The crushing of these mystery religions, came with dire warning. Humanity may be destroyed if we do not have the wisdom these mystery religions held. If we let go of these philosophies, these practices, these things that tie us intrinsically to Earth, to Nature, we will surely see humanity extinct. And it absolutely looks like it worked. We have an Earth crippled by our presence. Was this their goal?????? To destroy the only place you can be is stupid. No amount of wealth is going to change the fact you're destroying the home where you store that wealth. I'm just so fascinated by the cover up of these mystery religions. That sheer determination to totally bury it, and "this is the new law" tactics employed. Our way or the highway. But the highway is damned. There is nothing good at the end of it. Trying to find out where the names of demons come from, should be a psychedelic journey.

Mythology moreso than Religion, but the two are so intertwined, to ignore one is to ignore the other. Alot of this information comes from the Nag Hammadi library, which can be found online. The Gospel of Judas is one of the most fascinating reads of early Christian writings, where Jesus comes from another dimension. And only Judas seems to figure that out. At a price. Books like Muraresku's, Stuart P. Nettleton's The Alchemy Key, Manly P. Hall's The Secret Teachings of All Ages, Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth, anything C. G. Jung, these are all good starting points to watch the transformation of the mystery religions into what we see today. Which is a far far cry from the way things used to be.

2000 years. 2000 years. When you hear this span, which happens to be the time between AD 1 to 2001. Or 1700 BCE to 300 CE maybe. Or what? Sloppy talk equals sloppy thought. You should read the Economist. You might get a ‘meaningful’ experience.

Psychedlics is a form of pharmakia; Greek word φαρμακεία, transliterated pharmakeia, which means 'sorcery' and is prohibited in the bible. The apostle Paul lists sorcery as one of many sinful practices that mark the lives of unbelievers: “Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife . . . and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God” (Galatians 5:19-21). Interestingly, the New Testament Greek word translated “sorcery” is pharmakeia, which is the source of our English word pharmacy. In Paul’s day, the word primarily meant “dealing in poison” or “drug use” and was applied to divination and spell-casting because sorcerers often used drugs along with their incantations and amulets to conjure occult power.

Reviewing this also from a Christian perspective, albeit an Orthodox one. Using psychedelics will lead to conclusions that are a cheap substitute for that which is not achievable through mind-altering chemicals. This is spiritual self-delusion, called Prelest in Orthodoxy. Chemically induced changes are NOT Theosis (achieving synergy with God) Theosis requires purification. The Holy Spirit will not inhabit that which is unclean. Purification requires repentance and humility. For someone with an Orthodox background (his last name is Romanian) and for someone who took the motto of the Monks of Athos ("We come here to die so that when we die, we won't die) without mentioning it once, this is just a sad ape of Orthodox theology. Anyone with a basic understanding of Orthodox theology can see how deluded this is.

Do also consider the holy living water chapters John 3rd and 4th where you are asked to be reborn in the water and the spirit and that even point to the thing growing in the field that we have not planted but are send to harvest so that the potentially ignorant of it's existence are not damaged by ergotism (Matthew 18:8) but can experience happiness together with the brewer of that holy kykeon!

Paul was also Pro-Slavery and contradicted Jesus’ teachings throughout his writings. If you are going to uphold fundamentalist beliefs then you would also be anti modern medicine since the word Pharmacy is derived from the word Pharmakia.

I think it's pretty sad that only one person in your audience goes to church on Sundays. Psychedelics are one thing, but faith in God is essential.
