I think this show is underrated asf. It gets better in the later seasons and though the characters designs are odd I dig it. The city feels really dead at times since there aren’t too many civilians, that being said the later seasons fix this. Also It was moved to adult swim after CN deemed it too violent for the kids so it kinda becomes more fleshed out

That was the downfall. They released it in a time where cartoon network was moving to the 10 min low attention span shows. Beware the batman was more of a drama with mature themes all around. Granted it did have a rocky start. The second half was getting better. They also didn't give it a chance. It straight up only had one time slot on Saturday morning with no re runs. Then it was moved to adult swim. I feel like if it had been released on adult swim from the begining. It mightve survived to a second season. Which if they had kept the momentum that was happening in the later half. This show could've been something special
My favorite thing about this show was its catchy theme song, id always wait for it to air next on nick just to hear it.

I loved this show I also loved that it tried (though it did cave) to use unused villains only… Again Anarky was basically this series Joker which I liked… I loved seeing Magpie and honestly really enjoyed seeing them use Professor Pyg and Mr frog Loved the show
I loved this show. Wish there were more seasons of it
Was good. Saw all 26 episodes. The episodes with humpty dumpty were good
Dude u gotta see the rest of the show it gets so good. The ending is crazy
This is a unique take on Batman and how different it was both in animation and storytelling. I only have a couple memories of this show, but not very fondly. Still interesting to see depictions of Bruce, Alfred, Katana, Anarchy, Killer Croc, Man-Bat, Professor Pyg etc... Btw would love to see your review of other underrated Marvel/DC animated shows like Static Shock, The Green Lantern Animated Series, Batman Brave and The Bold, Superman: Animated Series, X-Men Evolution, Wolverine and The X-Men, Mtv Spiderman, Fantastic Four World's Greatest Heroes etc...

I wish they were more faithful in regards to the villains they used like Professory Pyg and Anarky. They felt very watered down in comparison to their comic book counterparts.
it failed because it was released before it had a chance to finish so the early season felt very dead/unpolished, but the show did get better during its final episodes. It's not a bad show, just a show that done poorly because CEO of the time cared more about toy sales.

@@MantaRayStudios24 honestly. They could've introduced the likes of hush or a lot of different characters with the CGI 3d design. I was intrigued. I didn't even mind the way that they did Deathstroke.
I couldn’t get over it that one of Batman’s enemies herein was a bipedal talking frog . . .
I saw some episodes of this show back when it first aired, then binge watched the entire season today. It's not terrible, but I can see how it's very forgettable. Batman's more aggressive and this show does highlight the darker side of his character, as he does showcase a lot more brutality and tends to be way more aggressive and less empathetic. In one episode he nearly beat Killer Croc to death. He even begins to lose touch with Bruce Wayne and tells Katana he's not Bruce Wayne. I do like how they pick lesser known more obscure villains It only lasted for one season and was written off by Cartoon Network. I do feel like it was a mistake to end Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which was a really good show and I wish it had continued on for more than three seasons.
Alfred was a bodyguard in the Earth One comic and that had a really good reception so…maybe that’s why this Alfred was like that in this show. I really enjoyed this show, maybe not as much as the 2004 show, but I still really liked the darker tone of this version of Batman

Mmmh, I feel him being flat as an argument doesn't really work for this episode specifically, batman is in general always a flat stoic character, For example he can be really one note in the Arkham series, but hey we get it he's supposed to be stoic, but even in this episode you watched, he went from arguing with Alfred that he can handle everything alone for all times ever, to actually sitting with him again and admitting he was wrong, the reason he probably admitted that were Dr pig and Mr toad that had him spread thin, so yeah batman shows that he's capable of admitting he was stubborn and able to see other people's perspective in one episode alone, compare that to Arkham knight where batman for no reason will not let the bat family close, he's supposed to be hard to read but in that he was just stubborn cuz hey he's batman, I think this show's version of batman is my favorite interpretation cuz he is the most human, yes I know that sounds weird but I've never felt like I knew batman and Bruce the way this show presented him, they explain his methodologies, how he trains, he's ideals, what separates Bruce from batman and when do they become indistinguishable, he trains katana as a mentor and he treats her very well, in fact katana and batman have a very underrated chemistry in this, I will admit that its achilles heel is it's animation, I think no matter how much people give it a chance, something about it's 3d just screams illegitimate, idk why a show like transformers prime lends it's self so well to cgi, but I don't think it'd work for batman, I think it's hard to convey the brooding melancholy of batman with a cgi model of Gotham that looks like a toy box, so yeah the animation will disturb the emersion as you watch, and with that even small complaints in the story become big ones cuz the animation is already a turn off, but I'm not that crazy about animation as long as the characters act human which the ones in this one absolutely do, however it's villains are not good at all, they range from tolerable to bad, I don't know, I don't think they paid as much attention to detail to the villains as much as they did the bat family, so yeah I think it's batman and katana plus Alfred and oracle is good but everything else about the show is very uneven so I can see people said "nope!!" And I can't necessarily blame em
This show was a new good experience of looking at Batman the other way.

"He knew he had a back up gun and was all smug about it" My brother in christ, he is the goddamn Batman! His comics counter part can predict opponents just by watching their skin move. Plus have you heard of "intimidation" you know, the whole thing Batman is supposed to do to criminals? Id be pretty intimidated by a guy who just casually dodges bullets, tells me where my side piece is, and degrades me for missing my shots. How are you sinning Batman for Batmaning?
The network doomed this show The tempo was to slow and the show was too damn dark. This should have been action based. I would have love to have seen more the battle with the league of shadows. I understand that this video is just an opinion piece. That being said, I'm going to give my opinion on this opinion piece, with the background I have, having watched a good number of prior Batman shows. First off, from you saying you were 8 or 9 when this show came out a decade ago, I'd assume you're 17-19 years old and thus didn't grow up with Batman: The Animated Series. But ever since at least that show, Alfred has been a former MI6 agent, we just don't see his skills as often elsewhere as here. So in that regard, Beware is actually very accurate. Second, the first episode alone really isn't a fair representation of the show. I agree, Professor Pyg and Mister Toad were really not the best kick-off to the show. But - being 8 episodes in myself - what this show does is honestly something I wish more still did today. It leans into being a *serial* show with an overarcing plot, where plot points and characters from prior episodes, even episodes further in the past than just last episode, will come back in episodes after. What episode 1 does that's most important is introduce Simon Stagg, and establish the need for Katana in the story. Also trust me, Batman *isn't* portrayed as perfect in the show going forward. It may have seemed like that from just one episode because episode 1 is establishing Batman's skills with a fairly easy villain. Going forward, he takes plenty of hits, gets knocked out, tricked, captured, he isn't completely without failure, but he's also very skilled. I think they balanced it very well in the episodes I've seen. tl;dr I think there's a bit of lack of character knowledge demonstrated in this video, as well as the unfortunate fact that episode 1 was very much not as good as ANY of at least the 7 episodes after. I'd recommend episode 2 as where the strengths of this show start becoming apparent, especially in the action aspect, as Batman fights a villain who's more on his level in hand-to-hand.
The Gotham in this version looks like a deserted metropolitan save a few vagrants and bystanders here and there.

Nah, your instincts are correct to not wanting to continue ! That show just didn't't connect. Too many bad choices. That wonky 3D style, the Katana sidekick thing, that weird obsession of the 2010's DC of making Alfred more than who he is (besides this show,Gotham and Pennyworth being the biggest culprit. It's still there in the new Batman movie but not as prevalent) .And Professor Pyg? Really? I'm all for not giving him the usual 6 vilains( Joker, Twoface, Riddler,Penguin, Ra'sAlghul and Bane). Batman, thanks to BTAS, has quite possibly one of the most interesting rogues galleries in comic book history save Spiderman. And they picked the serial killing Plastic surgeon?? I'm glad we collectively forgot that show.
Honestly it's not perfect but it's decent. Don't get me wrong I'm not the a huge fan of the animation, use of lesser known villains, and especially Batman's design. But I like how just like The Batman 2004 it tries to do something different and new. But yeah Beware the Batman is a forgotten Batman show that is not bad or good at the same time...

Even as a kid, I thought this was the ugliest Batman design I have ever seen. Nothing looked unique or appealing to look at. Especially coming off the success of other CG shows like TMNT 2012 which looked way better in animation and style. I'll admit ditching some classic villains in favor of more unknown ones wasn't a bad idea but nobody was particularly interesting or well developed. Even Two Face, who's one of the more tragic villains and he was so bland and boring here. Brave and the Bold proved that using more obscure villains wasn't a bad idea but this is one of the most boring animated Batman shows that makes you feel empty and have no joy or intrigue. If any of y'all say it's "underrated" that's cool, but I'll stick to the 2004 series if you wanna talk about an underrated Batman show. That one had style and well written characters.

yes
The best parts of this show were the intro with the red aesthetic and the black Batsuit. Everything else was mid.

How old were you when the show came out?
Not good my ass. Beware the Batman is super underrated. I hated it at first and only watched a few episodes, but went back to it years later and watched the whole thing. The villains in the first few episodes sucked, and the show makes some strange choices of which characters to feature. Having said that, it's actually a very good show, despite it's quirks. You can't judge this show properly based on one episode.

So you watch one episode and this is what defines the show watch the whole series it would make sense and katana is practically a side character threw out the show

@@MantaRayStudios24 well I would like for you to do that and take this video down so we shave a better understanding of that you think the show is not the first episode mate like if I just watch one episode of stranger things is guess and I do a review and I say this is what the characters do or this is all that there is in a show

@@MantaRayStudios24 I get it takes time to watch these series but that is fine I just think watching one episode of a show doesn’t define the show

I'm not going to take the video down lol. Also this is less of a full review and more of a first impression review. I'm not trying to judge the whole show at all just saying what I see in the first episode and if people like it, I'll talk about the rest in another video if that makes sense

I agree
BtB is, by far, the worst Batman cartoon I've ever watched. It was so agonising for me to end it. However, I LOVE its song.

the theme is a banger for sure
The network doomed this show The tempo was to slow and the show was too damn dark. This should have been action based. I would have love to have seen more the battle with the league of shadows. Deathstroke black mask the bring in the joker. The show had potential but it had tough shoes to follow, due to the Batman series Batman brave and the bold and the Dc animated movies

@@MantaRayStudios24 agreed ages 12-20. I think this was a great to make Bryce younger around 22-24. I would love to see him in his very first mission as Batman
