The Ford CL 9000 RETURNS! || Cab Tour and Startup

Фильм және анимация

Today the ol Ford returns to Porter Productions, after sitting for about 3 years. Today, we start her up! We brought out the battery charger since the batteries are old. She starts without the help of the charger and runs great. The cabover could still use some repairs.

Let’s set the stage: The cab on the Ford was already up, so we had to let it down and get tools ready. We have much to do today...replace a wheel seal and install lights on the trailer and see what the cabover might need to get her running. Keep in mind that where the truck is parked is higher than where we’re walking...AND it’s starting to rain. Everything is harder in the rain you know! But the Porters are DETERMINED! Get ready...Enjoy!

@Virginia Truck spotting 🇺🇸 That’s the goal...get her road worthy and then drive her to shows. We have at least 2 trailers to pull behind her, a stainless and a pup. We’ve even talked about stretching it a little bit, but that’s uncertain the moment. Thanks for checking us out. Stay tuned.

DailyDieselDose 🇺🇸She sat a few years before we got her. Sitting is hard on a rig. My brother has hopes of stretching the frame just about 2 feet. 🧐 The birds love her because she’s tall and hardly moved. The pipes are good except for the elbows. You can tell that by watching the video. But she wasn’t abused! And she’s air ride. I can’t wait until we get her out on the road for a little trip. 🥰 She needs a good bath and buffing, but eventually a new paint job. We have quite a bit of bling to install on it when the time comes.

🇺🇸 I had always assumed that the engine was original to the truck, but I found out that Ford company reps came & replaced the engine due to some major issues it was having at the time. So the engine is a couple of years newer & has more power than we originally thought. This was after we had spoken to the original owner’s son, who drove the truck. It will be so good when this truck is back on the road! I think this truck will get an electric jack eventually. At least we can raise & lower the cab now, after replacing several lines.🥰😎✌️

They were some sharp trucks! 😎 I’m not quite sure when they went from single headlights to dual or vise versa. I’ve always liked the sleepers, and the double bunk the most! 🥰 But the day cabs were actually quite cool, too. That gives me some food for thought. Hmm. I shall look that one up. Check some junkyards or online ads. We actually got this one because we stopped to check on it and asked the guy to call us if/when he wanted to sell it. She still had LOTS of potential. We already have a Freightliner ready to donate the frame and rears to extend the truck. Ooooops ! Did I say too much? Bottom line, things are coming together a little more now...just before winter ❄️. And it’s a stainless trailer that’s connected to her. 🤩
