    Could you imagine a sports car company that won't publish horsepower and vehicle weight numbers because they think their potential customers are too stupid to understand that heavy, low horsepower cars are slow? Side note - A Ford Mockstang is an electric minivan.

    Great and accurate video on this model! I 100% agree on everything about this model, I used it and abused it like y’all did and found the exact issues and characteristics. Being able to fly it without any differential thrust at all definitely made hovering easier for me. Thanks, absolutely love the reviews you do on these planes!

    Haha that would be interesting! Real talk, tossing two motors onto a Fun Cub would be lighter than the Twimber for sure. However, it would need other design changes to prevent the same issues the Twin Timber has that would ultimately lead to a completely different scratch built airframe. You’ve seen our building “abilities”…so I don’t think we’d do too well. 😁

    12x6 or 13x4 props, 20% diff thrust, 2400-3600 SMC LIHV, and full span ailerons fix all of the issues you presented except the roll over. I agree those are all issues out of the box but they’re also very easy changes. It’s a great, unique flyer with those changes. Also great on floats without the rollover issue.

    Great video as always. Just a suggestion: you've covered aerodynamics a lot, and it's great. I'm wondering if you could devote some more videos to the guts inside RC planes. The battery video was great but it could use a follow-up. And I'd really like it if you covered servos. I've noticed a funny thing in the hobby--if you ask an "experienced" RCer why they chose the servos they did, you get a lot of evasive answers. It's quite funny. I'd like to know more, but it's clear you have to be careful who you ask. I have a feeling you could shed a light on this.....ESCs, electric motors, all that stuff, but servos seem like there is huge knowledge deficit out there.

    I know I commented before a couple weeks ago but I tried putting the turbo timber evolution tail wing onto the twin timber and it seems to help the way the plane flies at slow speed a lot. Before it seemed like if you moved the CG back a little for stol flying the tail struggles with lift making it feel tail heavy. Now with the turbo timber rear wing i can put the first strap at the end of the battery pushing it as far back as i can and it noticeably made the plane more stable for stol flying. I am a rookie so take it at that.

    I guess if I had seen this video before I bought mine, I may not have bought it. But I will say that I'm glad I did. I suppose I could set it up to do a lot more than I do. Right now I don't even use reverse thrust. But it's a good flyer and its fun.

  • @user-yc7sg7xj4f
    @user-yc7sg7xj4f8 ай бұрын

    Can I add my 2 Cents? If you change to 13x4 2-Blade props, your thrust to weigh ratio is so high that flaps are not needed for T/O, hence less nose over tendency. You can also use snap flaps. But honestly, flaps are not really needed at all on that huge wing. They create more issues than the offer benefits. This thing is high-powered, has a huge wing and will fly perfectly even with flaps set to zero or even slightly negative.

  • @BladeScraper
    @BladeScraper9 ай бұрын

    "You can't use reverse or differential thrust unless you have a Spektrum radio" Mostly correct... a bit pricey but there is a way. The RCLightSystems ESC Telemetry Converter will convert the proprietary SRXL-esque protocol that the Smart ESC uses into whatever your radio takes... for example it can convert it into FrSky S.Bus + S.Port so you can get the same functions, including telemetry. At 39.99 GBP each it's costly for a twin motor plane, but the good thing is they can be used with a variety of other ESCs as well, so you can move them from plane to plane. Edit: I forgot this plane has a 2in1 ESC. Maybe a single converter would do the job?

    I liked mine (this is my third plane and my first larger plane and 2 engine) and after some landing practice i rarely nose it even when coming in slow, if you just cruse it can fly for 12min but around 8 to 10 min is what i got from my 4S 5000mah battery. although I'm waiting to see if my plane will be changed under warranty since the servo for the elivator did slip out of its grove in the body because the glue had not adhere to the body witch resulted with a crash with a forest when i suddenly could not climb... before the crash i was really happy with the plane and even with the safe and A3ES on i found it not as limited as the other planes i have flown that has them on.

  • @TailHeavyProductions

    @TailHeavyProductions

    9 ай бұрын

    We unfortunately disagree on that one. The Timber X was designed to be a bush and 3D plane. It flies neither well. It’s a classic “Jack of all trades, master of none” scenario. 3D wise, it wing rocks all over the place when flying post-stall which is not ideal for any good 3D bird. It’s also too heavy in comparison to legit 3D planes of its size. Bush flying wise, the only good thing it has going for it is the gear...before one too many firm landings leads to the gear plates breaking. Otherwise, the wing rock and higher wing cube loading than other better bush planes of the same size make it not worth it. It’s better to have one great 3D plane and one great bush plane than one plane that does both to a mediocre level.

    I prefer my Durafly Tundra I modified to the Twindra. It is light and can land anywhere with ease as a bush plane should. I can almost buy 2 Durafly Tundra v2 PNPs for the price of one Twin Timber.

    I love the review, I think I'll just stick with my Timber X, there's no way I could deal with nosing over into the ground when you give full throttle, and how did they manage to make it 6 pounds? The Timber X is like 3 pounds and can generate about 4 lb of thrust. I like the idea that you don't have to constantly give full right aileron to hover and the counteract the torque but you gotta be able to have differential thrust on a switch because hovering with differential thrust sounds terrible. When you're hovering all you need is each prop generating half the thrust and counteracting each other's torque, rhe rudder, elevator and ailerons can do the rest.

    I'm not really sure why anyone would by a twin timber for aerobatics or for STOL. Modelling does have other realms that have been missing this exact design for years. Don't judge a Gold Wing by its track performance, guys, but do keep these weekend carnages coming!

    Why do people drive in circles with a sedan? Only go to the kids school and soccer practice in a F-150? Why did people convert dirt bikes into supermotos? Why do people ride a Harley at all? Especially ones with no suspension and dumb ass clothes racks for handlebars? Why do the clowns have loud exhaust 'for safety' when they ride shirtless and no helmet?

    Exactly. When it comes to RC reviews, I find it a bit annoying that all models tend to be judged by their aerobatic performance, which many users don't care about at all. I bought the Twin Timber as a heavy long range camera platform with modest runway needs, and had to sit through hours of irrelevant cavorting before I found a review that actually addressed the stability characteristics I was after. I use Fun Cubs for STOL and Extras for 3D, I don't think anyone would consider a Twin Timber for that.@@toolbaggers
