    I remember hearing that the reason why there are so many "Florida Man" stories from Florida is because the state has really good disclosure laws that allow info about wild events to both be put into public record quickly and easy to look up and access. In truth plenty of states have people doing "florida man" tier escapades but for some reason in particular it's harder for people out of state to find out about those than those of the true "florida men."

    Yea if California/nyc had those same laws they would be seen as much worse, Florida has crazy people but those places have crazy societies as a whole, still mostly civilized here atleast

    On Halloween of this year, my neighbors 14 or so were chasing each other on bikes. One was holding a mannequin with a wig on it and the other was chasing it shouting “ give me back my wife” this lasted two hours or so.

    a few years ago in Chicago, we had an alligator show up in a pond in a park. It was a Florida man who took the alligator, and he went to Florida to live with other alligators. Some are good. The alligator was named Chance the Snapper btw.

    As a Floridian. This is a pretty accurate description of the state. We drank beers and grilled burgers on the patio while Irma rolled through town. Then I sat and played Minecraft overnight during the Hurricane. Irma was weak sauce by the time it made it’s way to central FL ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    @LTSam I had to get rid of him, he tried to bite me for Christ’s sakes I mean what kind of alligator does that? Plus he picked up his cocaine habit AGAIN after the 5th time we rehabilitated him. So instead I got a rattlesnake as my new buddy and he’s great so far. He’s much less impulsive, he gives great hugs, and he can play maracas!

    I went to school with one of our state representatives. This guy would wrestle alligators then bring them to parties. He’d put them in the pool, freak out party guests. I love my home state. I’d like to add that Florida has the sunshine law. It’s much easier to access information on crimes that have been committed. That’s why it seems like Florida so nuts.
