This is the first song I've ever heard from this band. It popped into my spotify "new music" playlist thing. The vocal performance and lyrics are probably some of the catchiest parts of this song.

Oh shit! You just walked in on one of the best bands around today! All of their albums are amazing. Now, consider the fact that The Great Awake was written when the members were roughly 17 years old or so and you’ll get why these guys are such a rare phenomenon. Each album tracks consistently well, even Inviting Light. That took a minute, but is certainly the first thing I show people who don’t know the band, as it’s easily their most radio friendly.

sounds rad. Sounds like The Flatliners. Sounds Like Chris. Sounds like a new progression. Sounds cool as fuck.

I’d never heard of the band until a couple of weeks ago, but this instantly became one of my favorite songs of the year. What a banger!

Just discovered this band when this song popped up on iTunes after an album finished. I play the album twice a day now! Incredible sound, incredible vocals!

@@fullyaroused Inviting is a lot different. But them experimenting with directions like that are what lead to the evolution of their sound to where it is in New Ruin, so I still appreciate it.

@@gorillaboardwalk4443 I honestly liked it more than this comment makes it seem. I just didn't care for the distorted Strokes-esque vocals. I prefer Chris's gritty punk vocals. Love the song Unconditional Love a lot, it's one of my favorite songs they ever made but it's better in their Audiotree session cus Chris's vocals are his pure vocals. I liken Inviting Light to Weezer's Green Album. They made Blue and Pinkerton then decided for some reason to do less and it was fine and a good album. But it wasn't an amazing album. Inviting Light is much like that. It's fine. It's even good. It does what it's supposed to do. But it's not that gritty punk Flatliners sound.

@@tiredofyourtakes I was just teasing, just the wording on it, “I’ve missed this since the last time you did this which was every time except the last.” I thought was funny. I totally agree personally I think Inviting Light was a fantastic album, it just wasn’t what I was expecting due to the seeming progression towards more hardcore from great awake -> cavalcade - Dead Language. I’d say the lead singles from the last two though did a good job of projecting the feel as a whole though, so let’s see what we get here!

It wasn't too poppy it was just boring. I actually like most of the songs from Inviting Light, but can't get over the vocals. It was missing that grittyness in Chris's voice. They used that weird indie band distorted voice thing the Strokes and the Killers use. And it works for bands that use it, but when The Flatliners used it it made me think that Chris's voice was like gone or something and this was their solution, but then I watched them play Unconditional Love in a session and he sang it amazingly.

Good lord my year needed this!

Def sounds more like the FAT version of themselves. I really enjoyed "Inviting Light" which FAT probably didn't want to release considering it sounded so mainstream. I enjoy both sides to these guys and hope there's a few melodic tracks on it along with these rippers.
