NOFX - The Big Drag (Official Video)

Ойын-сауық

Video by Olga & Vira "MadTwins" Ishchuk ( / madtwinsart )
"The Big Drag," is lifted off NOFX's latest full-length, 'Single Album' available via www.fatwreck.com
Lyrics:
Before James (Jimmy Dread) died he smiled and laughed
Cuz he was just photographed for the last time
While it was drowned the kitten purred
At least that’s what I thought I heard
But maybe that’s cuz I need to believe in the absurd
Ashes to ashes after the planet crashes I trust all dust will turn to dust
I used to think a wasted life was not a crime “Kevin Seconds”
That’s before I realized we don’t have very much more time
Whose God was it that finally damned us
Or was it all foreseen by Nostradamus
My melodies are maladies my poetries are just phonetic
Trying to make sense of this world is preposterous pathetic
The Gods have had their fun playing this world but now it’s too upsetting
The human race is not worth watching or wagering on
We’re just a longshot, an underdog with odds so bad now it’s just a blood letting
So, every deitywith dignity has just stopped betting
It used to be a blood sport, now that the most popular God’s son is finally setting
So,follow me into a world of anything you’ve ever dreamed
Now that morality is blurred if you listen really closely
You probably believe in every single word
The only thing we can count on is an eternity of this absurdity
Mesmerizedby rhetorical and memorized historical events
That never actually occurred
Because a herd needs to believe every command and every word they ever heard
We’renot blind were bound and blinded our minds have been land minded
And I’m so excited!Remember when colors made a rainbow from a prism
Now black and white thinking makes reignbows into prisons
Every single person on this planet thinks they are right
The new black and white reignbows
Cuz if you thought that you were wrong
You’d change your mind fuckfrom black to white
I do believe in True Romance
So,I’m gonna dance and fight and fuck with every moment
I’ll always have something in my glass to raise
To make a toast for those making the most of the last days
But there is no black and white there’s only different SHADES of gray
That’s why it’s insane to believe in anything or live a certain way
Nothing is ever gonna change, nothing will ever be ok
Nothing is ever gonna change, nothing will ever be ok
There’s only a finite number of tomorrows
And it’s not a lot but it’s all we really got it’s all we really got Live each precious moment that we can manage to carve out of each day
So,when it’s time for us to die we’ll say our short goodbye
There is no sadness if there’s no one left to cry

Just finished listening to their book on audible. I definitely recommend it over reading it. Bcuz they all read their own chapters plus they got Jello from DK & Tommy Chong from Cheech & Chong as quests reading other chapters. It's fantastic n very moving, some fun entertaining stories but also some extremely gut wrenching honesty, self awareness n extremely emotional moments. N isn't that what we like punk for in the first place? It's raw stripped down pure rock n roll, success n failure, love n hate, laughter n tears, n the truth. Which is not easy to find these days let alone tell. So for them to read their own confessions n innermost intimate thoughts about each other, their friends n family n assess themselves, their car n life is just wow....it will leave u speechless like a lot of their songs lately. This is a new area for NOFX n not just them but all of us in America n in general around the world. They r by far more impressive then the Rolling Stones, or Black Sabbath, or Zeppelin in their endurance of partying, drugs, touring, n managing regular lives n families as well as business. Just no contest in my opinion. N I've read a lot of band bios n watched many docs on musicians n bands, n they just amaze me. I've always loved them, but I have a much deeper more serious respect for them now.

If Jackass formed a band instead n used their collective intellect n musical skills that's kind of what nofx is. The embodiment of that generation but with much more reflection n thought n emotion as possible I think. They might've been an accident, unplanned disaster turned miracle success that helped them grow where n when many others of that generation n mine looking up to them couldn't change or grow n they changed but in a way that allowed them to stay true to themselves at their core, n thankfully shared n brought us all along for the ride. Thank u long live NOFX! Excited for Jackass Forever btw don't get me wrong I'm stoked for that movie. But I feel this is deserved even more so... #nofxforever

It's obvious that people see their own things in the visuals, not exactly what we put there. Guess it's not a first NOFX song which made someone pissed or angry. Same to our cartoon videos! Sad day when they hang up their hats man. Been such a huge part of my life. Relating so much to their music. Watching them aged as I have, amidst the fame and lifestyle, there are still things that are relatable and helps me find ways to express myself, through their expression of themselves. Wish I could thank them for their contribution to culture, and to helping me to stay sane throughout the years. I put the bands name on my body. It's a part of me, although I contributed nothing other than money. Through drug abuse, breakups, homelessness, new cars, large homes, new careers, all of it, the band has been playing in the background. Kudos to NOFX for sharing themselves for us all to see.
