They are both connected just not worth watching lol

I rewatched all these movies last week while on vacation.

Watch these movies: Man Of Steel - To understand the reason for the Kryptonians invasion on earth and Zod's motives. And some backstory of the events that happened in Krypton like the formation of sword of rao why they are so desperately after the codex. I don't think Flash movie will not have time to explain all these in details. Zack Snyder Justice League - We see introduction of Iris West. Flashes abilities and powers are showcased in a more epic and higher level than in theatrical cut like how he's speed was essential to supercharge and interface with alien tech like motherbox. And most importantly we learn that Barry can access speed force which gives him the ability to time travel/reverse time. JL theatrical cut doesn't touch on this at all instead makes Flash a comic relief. In Snyder cut we see a better development of his character from being a nervous under-confident kid to becoming a hero and how he played a major role in saving the world. Bruce mentions this to him in the Flash movie.The backstory of Flash, which is another important aspect, is pretty much the same in both versions, his father is in jail for the murder of his wife which he didn’t commit and Barry is obsessed at proving his father innocent. I'd avoid the theatrical cut at all cost tho. You can't take Flash seriously in that. Optional: Batman 1989 & returns - To familiarize yourself with Keaton's Batman as well as his other stuff like the Batmobile, Batwing, Wayne manor and some of his original suits that we get to see in flash movie. BVS - Shows peoples perspective of the black zero event from ground level in the destruction of metropolis. Doesn't add much to the flash movie but it gives you an overview of the kind of destruction ZOD can cause and the urgency on why he needs to be stopped immediately. We also see teaser of the long haired Barry Allen which could be the alternate timeline Barry Allen, it's unclear tho.

Snyder Cut isn't necessary for background and it and the theatrical cut are the same basic plot.

@@MrBrock314 well the Snyder cut is necessary in the sense that watching JL is necessary, so why not watch the absolute best version of it? It’s pretty much better in every way, plus it gives more context to the weight of Barry’s family situation as well as the sheer power he possesses. By the end of Justice League you’re left wondering what else can Barry do, how far back can he go. The Flash movie will literally answer that question for us.

I'm just excited to see this movie with my kids. My little girl really wants to see Super Girl.

Don’t take your girl to see this convict led movie that Ezra still stars in! I don’t care about how good Supergirl is gonna be, it doesn’t matter how excited you are, it doesn’t erase the fact that Ezra the criminal is still in the movie without any consequences. Take your kid to Across the Spider-Verse, that itself from the trailers and artwork, it’s gonna be the best CBM and best animated film of the year instead of this mess of a film it’s gonna be.

Having watched both ZSJL and JL, there isn't as big of a difference as some like to suggest. There's a bit more fleshing out of characters and several new characters are in ZSJL but I doubt any of those are in the Flash movie so it won't be relevant. You could slice 1.5 hours off your viewing by watching theatrical JL and you won't lose any major key points.

ZSJL is a better version, but not a perfect one. You could shave off SO much of the runtime if you ran even half of the slow motion shots in real time 🤷🏾‍♂️

ZSJL is vastly superior than the theatrical version I can't believe some of you are downplaying it. I refuse to ever watch the theatrical version again. I've seen ZSJL over 5 times all 4 hours everytime. I can make a full essay of hoe its better. The only thing the theatrical has is its shorter but shitty.

I am hyped to see the flash movie, and I recommend seeing only the 1st Michael Keaton Batman movie, and since the movie explains the paradox of Zod or not. You also should see man of steel to see the difference of that character too. Plus, the 2nd trailer had lots of wonderful eater eggs and call backs to 1st Michael Keaton Batman movie and the 1st trailer too :)

To save them 1.5 hours. Having recently watched ZSJL, I can confidently say the basic story plot is the same in both. Just more character moments and more characters in ZSJL. This makes for a generally better movie but the plot was not different.

@@MrBrock314 respectfully, I don’t agree but I understand. I kinda treat ZSJL like 2 movies in one - mostly cause there’s no way I can sit through a 4 hour movie - but it’s subjective. If you feel that way then fine. I personally prefer the Snyder cut.

Love that question. Btw, There is a graphic novel out about what happens before The Flash Film. So the graphic novel is a prequel to the film.

Ezra is a great actor and the scene with Flash in ZSJL when he goes back in time is just one of the best scenes in comic book history for me. It’s such a shame he did all those things and I’m definitely conflicted about the movie. Still I will try my best to enjoy it since I love the character plus seeing Keaton again and Affleck one last time will be a plus.

Snyder cut has bigger arc for flash than Josstice League. Does it make a difference or does the extra bits in Snyder Cut isn't in continuity with The Flash?

Theres no reason to waste any time on the theatrical version of JL. Zack Snyders Justice League is the real film. Additionally, it has much more of......THE FLASH.

I hated the Flash character in the theatrical cut, I wanted Ezra fired after that mess. The jokes are terrible, and you'll want to punch him in the face. Zack Snyder's made me scale back my criticisms of him.

Flash was way better in the Snydercut, he was actually my favorite character in it, & the scene where he saved the world was the best scene of the entire movie imo, I think it even won an Oscar. I just find it so difficult to rewatch a 4hr movie again. I think that's the problem with long movies, I haven't even rewatched Infinity Wars & Endgame yet, even though I've rewatched every MCU film at least twice. I'm a huge Korean movie fan, but most of their movies are nearly 3hrs long, & I always hate the thought of sitting through a 3hr movie, it's a turn off. I really have to force myself to watch them. I think before The Flash comes out, I'll probably just rewatch certain scenes, or maybe split the Snydercut between 2 days.

You need to watch ‘Man of Steel’, ‘Justice League’, and every season of Law & Order: SVU.

I say watch Batman 89’ and Batman Returns, Man of Steel, Zack Snyder’s Justice. And while Flash only has a cameo in this movie, I say add Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice UE too.

"I would suggest either flavor of Justice League". Firstly, why on earth would anyone watch the theatrical release when Zack Snyder's Justice League exists? And secondly, how can you say this when the first one has a water-downed version of the character making bad jokes and the latter has the original depiction of the character on his full power?

Firstly, because he doesn’t want to get into the mess of talking about JL vs ZSJL. Secondly, because JL and ZSJL both have similar scenes about Barry’s past and with his father. Whether you like on or the other, the essential components of his relationship with his father and with Bruce and the rest of the JL are in both versions.

Isn't Iris in The Flash movie, her only appearance is in ZSJL. Plus it's a far more superior film in every way then theatrical.

It's better but you don't need to know who Iris most likely for the film to work. I'm sure they'll establish a Barry/Iris connection in the Flash movie, there's no way to do any version of a Flash movie without it.

Her appearance in ZSJL was kind of random imo. If I remember correctly, it had nothing to do with that film, could've been taken out & nothing from that movie would have change.

Barry is awkward and he runs fast. There, all caught up. 😂

I'm just going to go see the movie....I don't need to see anything before this movie... I already saw all those movies so no need for me to see them againg.....

ZSJL and JL are not as far apart as people suggest. ZSJL is more fleshed out with more characters but it's the same basic story.

@@MrBrock314 to be fair I did rate it only somewhere between pretty decent to good lol. More fleshed out and a completely different tone. I liked Wedons MCU stuff but his JL was corny and jilted. Snyders was to long but it's tone matched the events it was portraying and it flowed much better.

Whichever flavour you want? Annoying Russian family who should‘ve never made it into the movie and stupid jokes about brunch VS an epic time travel scene where Barry truly is THE FLASH It’s like the Extended Version of LOTR - there is no need to ever rewatch the theatrical release. Yeah ZSJL is 4h - watch it in 2 sittings it’s amazing. I rented a cinema for my bday and watched it with 20 people. We had a blast✌🏼

Having recently watched ZSJL, it's better but it's not that amazing. The story is basically the same as the theatrical cut with only minor differences. It's mostly additional character moments and other characters, none of which will be referenced in the Flash movie.

Honestly I think you can probably just go into Flash completely blind, because of the existing DCEU movies I don’t think any of them really have any huge connections to this movie, I think the closest one is Justice League simply because it was his first appearance but it’s not like the end of Justice League was leading directly into The Flash, so this may come as a surprise to some but if you ask me I actually don’t think you need to watch any of the other DCEU movies to prepare for this one

I think that might be overly optimistic about them explaining Flash and his connections to the other DCEU members. If you walk in blind, there'd be no explanation for how he even knows Batman.

Sounds like a better question might be which of the two versions of JUSTICE LEAGUE better prep you for FLASH. While I hope watching the ZS version would do the job, if I have to watch that god-awful Whedon abortion again, I *guess* that I would.

You can’t just watch justice league on a whim because it’s the last part of a trilogy. Everything pretty much starts connecting and expanding from man of steel. I’d recommend at least keatons two Batman films (Batman 89 & Batman Returns) and the Snyder versions trilogy (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman Ultimate Edition, Zack Snyder’s Justice League)

Snyder Cut isn't necessary unless one of the characters in ZSJL shows up in Flash which I highly doubt. The theatrical cut may be an inferior movie but you aren't missing major plot points by watching it.

You are a little bit contradictory because your original problem with my comment was that you felt I was against him expressing his opinion and I wasn't. That's what I was defending, when I replied. Now you're saying I'm defending myself hard from throwing shade. Actually I did throw shade (but that wasn't the point) never once was I intentionally against him expressing his opinion, which was why you said "people don't understand that film is subjective". Figure out your argument! And no Gunn doesn't have to promote anything from the dceu for any personal gain. That universe/movie took place before anyone knew he would be ahead of DC studios. Plus if he wanted to promote the flash a simple, it's a good film is all he would have to say. Yet he said it's one of the greatest superhero films made! So he was expressing how he felt about the film from a fans point of view not a studio head. Because I guarantee you he won't say the same thing about Blue Beetle nor Aquaman 2. I think I'm sticking with Gunn's advice about the film being he knows more about films than all of us. Believe what you want I could care less!

That's an interesting question. It makes me wonder which one is better. I tried watching the DCAU Flashpoint before, & I was honestly turned off by the animation. I don't like the way the characters were drawn, I know it's not a great reason to not watch it, but maybe I'll have to give it another try someday. Lol

I am unclear... what did Ezra actually do? I saw a video of him pushing a girl down. That is wrong... but she wasn't injured - it was lunch court stuff. I heard he was "grooming" someone. That is godawecul... but how old was that person? Did he do anything?

The would be helpful to see is the garbage one. Don't need Man of Shit, since Flash is remaking that trash dump. To connect more with Michael Keaton Batman, a major part of The Flash, you SHOULD watch 89 and Returns. Should see the theatrical Justice League, I completely agree. At least he got one right.

Welllllllll, my excitement for THE FLASH took a giant dip because ANY iteration of Snyder’s Justice League isn’t my cup of tea, Man of Steel was a hodge podge of okay and bad and the Keaton Batman movies are the ones I loved. I’m also 44, so I understand THE FLASH wasn’t made for my age bracket. So, there’s that. 😂

I recall in the long VANITY FAIR article some very credible accusations coming not just from the parents of the young activist Native American girl but also from multiple friends who produced very groomy-sounding text messages from Miller. I'm very, very hesitant to throw around the groomer accusation because it's being cynically weaponized so often right now. And that takes attention away from actual instances of potential child abuse while also often times destroying innocent people. But with EM, I do think it's a conversation worth having.

I would agree man of steel and Zack syder justice league but you forgot Batman vs Superman dawn of justice that the best movie in the series

The goal is to watch the LEAST amount of footage while gaining the MOST amount of relevant information. ie. You'd skip ultimate/extended editions UNLESS something crucial to the plot of the Flash was in it, which it's not going to be as directors do not expect the general audience to have watched the extended/ultimate/alternate versions of prior movies. This would set up a movie for failure.

The only reason I'm interested in seeing "BATMAN : FLASHPOINT" as we have dubbed it is because of seeing the 2 Keaton Batman movies. Watching MAN OF STEEL and JUSTICE LEAGUE makes me completely uninterested in the DC brand as a whole.
