    Played this at my daughter's funeral. We always would sing this together and we would both be sobbing. She was afraid of losing me and i was so scared she was going to leave me. She left. Died from fentynal laced heroin. She always thought she was never good enough. She had a heart of gold. Miss her. This is our song.

    I remember crying the first time I heard them play this in concert, and Wayne Coyne looking every single person near the stage in the eye for a second like he was asking "do you get it?" and then nodding before moving on to the next person. Few bands have the ability, fewer have the desire, and even fewer have the will to be so nakedly, unapologetically joyful and to share that with the crowd night after night.

    Casey Root Huh? What do you mean? The recent stuff has been amazing and continues the experimental edge and 'psychiatric explorations' that the Lips are known for. Also, the hopeful,earnest spirit that is present in this material was not lost either. They already did Yoshimi and SB, they needed to move on. What more do you want from them? If you're talking about him, personally, then I haven't noticed a damn bit of difference. Maybe people don't like what happened with Michelle and that he's hanging out with Miley or whatever but we have no idea about any of that and it would be idiotic to impose judgement. Good day, sir.

    Time is subjective so I guess I mean within the last year or two I think he's changed. I think the Beatles cover album was unimpressive and cop out. I love everything up to that release, though. I agree with you that it's foolish to pass judgement on Wayne seeing as I've never met him, and people are dynamic, but from what I've read about the situation with Kliph, it seems like Wayne just tries to be cool now and isn't as genuine. Then again, it's all speculation and it doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things. Happy Holidays if you celebrate/happy life otherwise!!

    @Brayden Dempsey how are you today? you're not alone at all. I've thought about ending it so many times. the pain is unbearable at times and as you say you just want out. what always stopped me was imagining the devastation it would create around me (there had already been a suicide in my family, so I had seen it with my own eyes). aren't there the samaritans where you live? they generally have helplines on 24/7. please, please, please reach out and talk to someone. you will make it man! I'm sure you have something to give to the world, even if you don't know what it is yet. a big, big hug

  • @iamthecosmos3301

    @iamthecosmos3301

    @Brayden Dempsey it's not a rant, no worries, you need to express yourself. there's a song by the smiths that goes 'shyness is nice, but shyness can stop you from doing all the things that you want to'. youth is cruel, and loneliness is devastating. it doesn't help to tell you it will pass though. and the fear of rejection is real. once I heard someone on a webinar say that statistics show that of all the people you meet, 33% will like you, 33% will not like you and to the other 33% you will be totally indifferent/neutral! that blew my mind! indifferent, so liberating! just think of the people you yourself see or meet that feel neither great nor horrible, just normal, or even meh... it's not that everybody will have a strong opinion on you, and even if they do it's not 100% on you, it's mostly about THEM, it comes from their brains and life experiences. hope this helps. I can suggest you two wonderful, easy to find and easy to read self-help books: 'your erroneous zones' by james dyer, and 'feel the fear and do it anyway' by susan jeffers. they will help you reflect on yourself without causing you to beat yourself up even more, and suggest simple, step-by-step strategies to improve your life. you'll find them in paperback for sure and quite likely as ebooks if you prefer the digital format. also, there's a blog by a couple called marc & angel. they're great! please do look them up, very understanding and offering practical uplifting advice. there IS a way out of there

  • @iamthecosmos3301

    @iamthecosmos3301

    2 жыл бұрын

    @Brayden Dempsey it sounds like you might be a HSP (highly sensitive person). please do look this up, and understand that if so you're not 'wrong/broken', it's just that your nervous system is wired differently, and you might need a different approach with people and life in general. maybe these new friends were coming off too strong for you without meaning to. and maybe they have no idea how difficult it might be for you. I understand that for a guy it might be a lot more difficult to say 'you know, I'm a bit shy and sometimes I just freeze', but you might try: who knows, maybe they too were shy once and have made progress and will understand... I know that loneliness is horrible, but imho trying to fit in somehow and at all costs never works. I'm totally incapable of doing small talk and/or gossip for more than 5 minutes, for example, and with time I've accepted that I'm like that and I don't even try, so I look for people who I share interests with to eliminate the small talk phase :D. I would try to find a way to communicate with these new people who liked you, maybe just explaining vaguely that you're in a bit of a rough spot at the moment and appreciating their interest in you. see how they respond :). unfortunately people might not be able to 'read' you the way you read them, so you just need to find a way to express yourself. best wishes

    When my Dad suddenly died in 2019, the day after was really hard on me, as I was all alone and left with such an overwhelming sense of sadness and grief and crying out for him on the floor. I searched for songs about losing someone/death and found this one. As I watched the video I realized very quickly my Dad was right there with me. You see, one of my dads silly yet affectionate pet names for me and all of my siblings was “pig” and as soon as this video started rolling, and that pig showed up, I knew he was simply finding his easiest route to comfort me in that dark place, through this video and song. My Dad was one of the bests, by the way. RIP R.A.G., Sr. 1949-2019

    66flamer Spiritual is a vacuous practically meaningless word. Its means 1000 different things to 1000 different people. This song is real, its human, its facing the inevitable, its appreciating the beauty while floating on a rock around a fireball. Its accepting the madness of it all as best we can. No need to add spirituality to it. It is beautiful without it

    I think that the flaming lips are all about bridging the gap between the natural scientific reductionist view of the world with the spirituality. Talking about the universe and our role in it in terms that convey the beauty and grandeur of it all. Like the way Carl Sagan did in Cosmos. And I think that if you say that spirituality plays no role in this song, you're missing the point.

    Devin Lee i guess im just arguing semantics. Its an extremely moving song, and im a huge fan of Carl Sagan and his message. I guess the term "spiritual" is what bothers me. It is vacuous and means a million things to a million people. I can totally agree with the grandiosity, wonder, love, empathy, elation... all of it. I just dont dig that term. But to each their own, it was your initial comment, im just a comment commentor. Its all love on my end.

Remember the simple things and enjoy what you have as best you can. Everyone has their weak moments and breakdowns, but those are just part of what it is to live life. Break, sob, hurt, and then move forward until you just cannot anymore. Wring as much out of this fleeting experience as possible until the burden is too much, or it simply ends itself for you.

    I have a brilliant memory of this song, I remember the first time I heard it. I was on a school trip to some place in norfolk, and I had a really cheap and shit mp3 player with this song on it and some others that my dad's mate gave me. We were entering this small seaside town, the sea to my right, a row of shops on my left. I was on the window seat of the bus looking out to sea as this song played, and it was at that moment I realized, life is so fricking good. That is my happy place, and I don't even remember the name of the town 😅

    I haven't heard this song since I first discovered it a few years ago. Then the radio DJ decided to give it a spin while I was driving today. My father passed away less than a year ago, and it made me realise a lot of things about life and people in general. Hearing this song and the radio DJ telling story behind it, I think I've finally found a song that speaks for what I had, what I feel, and what I know so far since his death.

    I heard this band for the first time in the 90s when I was a teen...I look back in all the bands and all the music and wayne's voice still stands out in a crowd...I would say one of the top five band sounds that defined that decade..and they just kept getting better and better.

    Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face Do You Realize - we're floating in space - Do You Realize - that happiness makes you cry Do You Realize - that everyone you know someday will die And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Do You Realize - Oh - Oh - Oh Do You Realize - that everyone you know Someday will die - And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know You realize that life goes fast It's hard to make the good things last You realize the sun doesn't go down It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round Do You Realize - that you have the most beautiful face Do You Realize

    This song used to make me emotional thinking about death and leaving my kids behind,I felt it was the saddest song ever... my dad just passed away Wednesday 11/11/20 and I’ve had it on repeat in my head ever since, playing it occasionally through the day helps me get all my emotions out if only for a little while.its pure sadness created into beauty.i miss you dad I love you dad
