The Five Presiding Bishops of The Church Of God In Christ Bishop J.O. Patterson (1912 -1989) known for his non-apology preaching and teaching. Under Bishop Patterson leadership the church grew tremendously to 44 different Countries World Wide. He appointed over 100 bishops, founded COGIC International C.H. Mason Choir. He establishes the Charles Harrison Mason Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia; the C. H. Mason System of Bible Colleges; the J. O. Patterson Fine Arts Department; the Historical Museum and Fine Arts Center and organizer of the Charles Harrison Mason Foundation and the Presiding Bishop's Benefit Fund which provides scholarships to deserving youth. In February of 1972, the five-hundred-room Chisca Plaza Hotel was given to Bishop Patterson by its owners. Because of his love for the church, the Bishop, in turn, gave the property to the church. The longest serving Presiding Bishop 1968- 1989. Bishop Patterson was known as the voice of Pentecost and along with our founder Bishop Mason, his name will always be anonymous with the COGIC and its history. Bishop L.H Ford (1914 -1995) Ford wanted to take the COGIC back to our COGIC roots of Biblical Holiness and tarrying praying services. Ford emphasized a return to the historical foundations or, as he described "The Old Landmark" of early COGIC practices and traditions. He criticized the high church liturgy, vestments, and modernity that many congregations had adopted since his early years with COGIC. He worked to remind members of the sacrifices of the pioneers of COGIC. He was first known in America for preaching the eulogy at Emmitt Till's funeral. Under his leadership, a sitting President (Bill Clinton) came to the Holy Convocation to speak, which was unheard of in the Church world and a big deal in American history. He also built many shelters for the Poor and homeless; He reopened Saints Academy and College in Lexington, Mississippi, He also constructed the new multi-million-dollar Deborah Mason Patterson Hall at the campus. He was a giant in the COGIC and America. Presiding Bishop 1990 - 1995 Bishop C.D. Owens (1931 -2011) Man with the Golden Voice, nobody in history preached the word as Bishop Owens did, he had an eloquent style when preaching that could not ever be duplicated, he was a great preacher. He was the youngest preacher elected to the General Board and organized the first AIM in the COGIC. Brought the COGIC into millions in surplus cash by not paying the General Board and clergies salaries for two years which cause many bishops to complain. But Bishop Owens didn't give in leaving the church well off financially. He is credited with systematically restructuring church departments and ministries, expanding the church in Asia, primarily India and the Philippines. In 2000 at the Ninety-Third International Holy Convocation, the COGIC General Assembly elected Bishop Gilbert Earl Patterson to replace Owens as Presiding Bishop. Owens continued to serve as a jurisdictional bishop and member of the General Board until his death in 2011. A giant and Legend in the COGIC. Bishop G.E. Patterson - (1939 -2007) He was a singer, praise worshiper, and Dynamic Preacher. He was one of the best preachers ever in COGIC history. When you came to hear Bishop, Patterson preached you were going to leave the churched blessed by his many gifts from God. Bishop G.E. Patterson, the nephew of Bishop J.O. Patterson, left the COGIC in 1975 after a dispute with his uncle but came back to the COGIC church in 1986. At that time, he was already in Jet magazines and a well-known preacher in the Country. He had officially installed a Jurisdictional Bishop in 1988. And a General Board member in 1992. In 1996 he ran for Presiding Bishop against Bishop Owens and lost by one point. He ran for Presiding Bishop again in the 2000 and became the 4th Presiding Bishop of the COGIC and 6th in succession. Under Patterson’s leadership, he founded COGIC Charities Inc. In 2004 said the prayer for President George W Bush second inauguration. Gave $425,000 in aid for tsunami relief. He was nominated for a Grammy and received a stellar award for traditional male vocalist of the year. Bishop G.E. Patterson went to be with the Lord in 2007 after his death the United States Senate sponsored by then Senator Barack Obama and others, passed a resolution to honor the life of the great Bishop G.E. Patterson. Presiding Bishop from 2000- 2007. No matter what denomination or religion you were in, you knew, heard or seen Bishop G.E. Patterson somewhere on TV or radio. His legacy will live on. Bishop C.E. Blake (1940 - Present day) Presiding Bishop Blake is the most traveled Presiding Bishop in the history of the COGIC. A global preacher, and the second longest serving Presiding Bishop in the COGIC. There are thousands of Muslim people in Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iraq that know and Worship with Bishop Blake and West Angeles COGIC on social media. He is a teacher, businessman, politician, global thinker, and visionary. He makes bold moves and decisions that are sometimes controversial, but always the right decision. He is the founder of Save Africa's children that has helped 90,000 of AIDS infected children. Under Bishop Blakes leadership he expanded the COGIC from 56 Countries to now 80 Countries in the World. When Blake took over the church the COGIC was $800,000 in debt; now the church makes $21 million a year. Under Bishop Blake money made from the Hotel commission and concessions are now accounted for and go to the church instead of people’s pockets. The church is currently building a 77 unit apartment housing complex in Memphis, and Blake is currently working with Memphis to build more Hotels to accommodate the saints so the COGIC can one day go back to Memphis. He is currently working on a Pension and Life Insurance program for Widows of late Pastors and Bishops. He is the first Presiding Bishop in the social media World, and I feel God’s man for this hour. The Presiding Bishop is one of the hardest jobs to have in the church; it can bring lots of stress and greatly age a person, not everyone can be the leader of the church. Bishop Blake always says “New Level, New Devil.” And his favorite saying, “I see you in the future, and you look much better than you do right now! “The COGIC is moving forward….

This is a disgrace to the true Church I have no respect for anyone calling themselves a Man of God who dresses like the WHORE OF BABYLON THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH. Apostasy that's what your looking at here, so sick Whoring in my Father's house. Don't y'all have Bibles?

Bishop Ford was that dude in my life. I can remember him coming to my father's state Convocation almost every year from the time my dad became Bishop up until his death just hit up a particular restaurant in Va. Beach call Captain George. That was his spot. They was a time he visit and my father take him out for a game of golf and me and my little brother was caddies for him and my father. What comical and fun experience that was. But after he came and visited that particular year, a few days later, he sent me and my brother a pair of golf clubs. Now, I never really was into golf like that. But the gesture went a long way with me and brother that he just had us mind to do something nice. Than me and my little brother went to All Saints Academy when he reopened that school. Everytime he came to visit, he made sure me and brother was straight and well taken care of. And he was always blessing us with money everytime he came to visit the school which was a lot. Bishop Ford loved that school. It was sad that it didn't go further than what it did.

I never get tired of watching this video. When Bishop Blake became Presiding Bishop he started asking questions about where the money from concessions was going. The church was losing money because someone was stealing. Bishop Blake is probably the most business oriented leader that the church has ever seen.

Alfamale63 what about Bishop Husband, who was on the General Board? He was on the board when J O Patterson was the presiding bishop. J O had a child out of wedlock. His baby momma sang at Bishop Mason’s funeral. There was hypocrisy and homosexuality going on long before Bishop Blake came along. He built West Angeles into the largest church in COGIC. I hardly think that he hardly needs to steal from the global church.

Why do COGIC bishops dress like Anglican and Roman Catholic priests and bishops? Aren't they supposed to be pentecostal protestants who reject the trappings of the two aforementioned churches. COGIC has a hierarchy almost like that of the Vatican in Rome. Is this what Charles Mason envisioned when he founded COGIC?
