Birthrates and economic purchasing power are slightly correlated (i.e with better economics you increase it by 0.2 at best). The only developed nation with well above replacement is Israel. Sweden spends 5x the US on pro natalist policies and has the same birth rates, the country with the highest native born birth rates in the EU is France and they spend a medium amount. Multiple studies have shown time and time again, economic pro natalist policies dont work, the problem is cultural.

Serfs had more kids than modern people. You will not tell me with a straight face that serfs had better economic conditions than the modern middle class. Yet they had birth rates two times or more above replacement, while we consider it a win to be at it. Look at GDP growth per capita and then at birthrates per capita. There's no correlation. As people get richer they have less kids, not more.

Tbh, I think I disagree that the "not far right/left" distinction doesn't matter. I understand what Atrioc says that categorizations are not that important; but I do think they are useful. One of the big points of the video was that people are moving towards the EXTREMES. It wouldn't be particularly surprising if it was just a normal right wing party that suddenly got popular ( would all the leftists have formed a coalition if the party was only economically right-wing, for example? ). So IF they were right that RN isn't far right, it would be a very important correction as it would change the entire narrative, I think. However RN is as far right as they get lmaoooo. So I do agree with the video, I just think getting angry at the idea of those comments is pretty silly. The main and only reason those comments suck is bc they are misinformed, but the intention isn't bad

I agree the main reason for declining birth rates is financial instability, but I also believe changes in hormones are a major factor. Men’s testosterone has dropped by about 25% in the last 20 years and Japanese men have especially low testosterone. Considering that testosterone is the hormone meant to encourage sex and reproduction this might explain part of the birth rate decline

i think there is a large amount of people, idk if its the majority but it is significant, that people dont want to have kids because they are overly aware that it will cut into there time they want for themselves, i do think that another good portion if not the majority is also financial stability being a problem, but realistically its probably a mix of both being the top factors, and i think both views stem from how things are rn, but i do think its probably mostly from how people looked at their own parents growing up and are looking back on it now and being like "damn that shit would suck"

No offense but no. A majority of people know children do not hold you back. You can have a life with children. You can have fun with your children. It's just a financial burden for most. It can cost tens of thousands to near 100k just too have a child for the first 2-4 years. Then if your child is not perfectly healthy it can get even more expensive and a heartache. So it's just humans feeling like they can't provide for children. So they do not have them. It's been that way since humans have been keeping historical records.

Le Pen is not far right tho. You could have maybe called her far right decade ago, but she's moved a lot closer to center. Mainstream media just loves to call every right from center right wing party "far right" in Europe. If you don't want to obsess about political categorization, just call it right wing. There are actual far right parties in France and Germany, but they come with obvious policies that don't really leave any room for debate.

People are upset about categorizing parties or groups as far right because groups like national rally often have platforms that were just considered right leaning 30 years ago but are now far right. Similarly it would have been unthinkable for major politicians to talk about forcing companies to sell ownership to employees, but today that is one of Bernie's regular talking points.

The people that don't like that party will disagree with you because it's advantageous for them to do so. The party is anti immigration which is considered far right to leftists and left leaning people.

3:16 the problem is that, just like when atroc thought Destiny was alt-right, these labels are so loosely applied, it’s so easy to label anyone something horrible to dismiss them. A lot of the times, it’s the people who dont care about misusing labels that hurt the discourse and cause conflict.
