Enzo is, in fact, a security guard named Dmitri Antonov. He adopted the name Enzo as Hopper suggested it would convince Joyce that Hopper was truly alive. It was way longer than a year-and-a-half wait between Seasons 3 and 4. Due to COVID, it was THREE years from 2019 to 2022. And now Season 5 is currently ANOTHER THREE YEAR WAIT as it won't be released until 2025.

I'm kind of happy about this... because... if there is also at least a three year jump in the continuity of the show... then that will take us up through 1989 and maybe they can feature a track off of Pretty Hate Machine. I'm thinking of "Sin", maybe? That would be awesome.

Tbh? If he'd lived, he would have been a changed man. He would have had the same trauma and isolation bond with the group as everyone else who has had to deal with the upside-down, and it would have been a good chance for him to make real amends with Max, Lucas, etc. It is too bad we never got that, because Dacre is such a good actor, and a delight to watch on screen.

Started laughing at that also. It does confirm for me that the reason for the Billy love is just spartan doesn't retain information. That's not a knock btw, many people don't for RL let alone fictional narratives. Explains how two seasons of being horrible are wiped clean by one scene with his dad and his death. But everytime (so many times) steve gets beat up spartan is surprised. And now we get the if only Billy and Steve teamed up against the jocks .... 😂.

In the 80s minors could definitely be questioned without a parent/legal guardian. Today (at least in California), a minor can only be interrogated if it is voluntary. If they ask to have a parent/guardian, the law requires that they have one, or a judge could later throw out the information learned in that interrogation.

Eleven is 15 yrs old, so still a minor. They shouldn't have been questioning her without a guardian/parent or adult representation present. That could all be thrown out because of that alone. Also, they can't process her and transfer her to juve without notifying her parents/guardian. Was Eleven right, no, but there's still due process that needs to take place, especially when dealing with a minor.

Yes, in the USA, physically assaulting another person means you get arrested, minor or not. Maybe if you're at school or at home, and nobody tells law enforcement, you'll get away without being criminally charged. Assault, in a public place, against someone who despises you for being cute without trying anywhere near as hard as they do, they'll almost invariably call the cops and you get arrested. Poor innocent Pudgey, you're too good for this world.

The Department of Juvenile Justice exists for a reason. Those cops had every right to arrest El. Her attacking Angela is at least assault with a deadly weapon, if not aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, depending on how bad the injury is. The only sketchy aspect of this is them questioning El without legal consel. Unless she waived her right to consel, a decent lawyer would have a field day with that.

I feel like they watched a different show the previous 2 seasons because until he was used by the mind flayer, Billy was an abusive potentially racist a-hole but they talk about him like he was a superhero. Sacrificing himself at the end doesn't excuse who he was or his actions IMO. He is a dick and it doesn't excuse his past actions, but he had a character arc that got cut short of their expectations. I'm pretty sure that's why they like him so much. He's cool and could have been cooler in their eyes. Also, they did mention Billy's story resonated with their own lives. That felt personal and I don't really care to delve deeper. But how long do we need to ignore someone's goodwill because of what they did in the past? People can grow and improve. I am NOT the forgiving type, but I do sometimes wish I could be more understanding. Props to them for liking somebody everyone else hates.

He terrorized his step sister and her friends, bullied Steve and beat him up, was racist, tried to seduce a married woman, publicly shamed a fat kid at the pool... Sure, with the abuse and abandonment by his mother he was a tragic character but he was way too awful on the whole to not be killed off. He had a good arc in season 3. I think the obsession is just some macho stuff, empathizing with a "misunderstood" strong guy abuser.

I love the scene where Nancy is at the trailerpark, and the guys parks by the road and gets out. At that time, none of them were completly sure that it was something from the upsidedown that was the problem, but when they see each other you can tell that they feel confirmed in their worst fear. There is no way all of them would see signs of that happening independently, without it actually being true, and you can see them feeling the nightmare that has been haunting them for years, coming to live once again. I think that is one of the many many many great things about this show. That they show the impact these experiences has on the characters, and how the different characters deal with it and how they grow.

16:00 I mean Eleven committed assault causing bodily harm (battery)... just because you're under 18 doesn't mean you can't be arrested and charged with a crime, and minors are sometimes even charged as adults if the crime is egregious enough. Being a kid doesn't mean you're free from all consequences. I will say however that it was incredibly wrong to interrogate a minor without a parent or guardian present, and the cops were coercive dickheads.

Folks were probably deterring you from thinking he was alive because we had it spoiled for us before season 4 came out (they had him in trailers for months leading up to the release so everyone already knew he was alive before the show started back up and it ruined the reveal) also please don't tell me ya'll think this Russian man's name is actually Enzo. So most people who watched the series live already sort of knew that Hopper was alive. The production and marketing team did a whoopsie with one of their early trailers that heavily hinted that Hopper was alive and a prisoner. So by the time the season aired anyone who had been looking at the buzz around the new season basically already knew.

  • @michaelklaus

They did NOT make a whoopsie. They purposefully REVEALED in the "From Russia with Love" trailer that Hop was alive. The reveal in ST4 was less about whether or not he was alive but how he could still be alive and how he ended up in Russia. The Kamchatka plotline was already teased in the ending/post-credit scene of ST3. What did people expect how that would tie in with the main plotlines? Especially with the notion of an American prisoner. Who should that be? A secondary or tertiary character? Chekhov's American prisoner?

El is supposed to be 15 in season 4 so she can be arrested and charged with ‘Assault occasioning bodily harm’ considering she used the roller skate as a weapon and most likely broke her nose. Everything that happened to her is legit. Fingerprints, photograph, etc. Only artistic licence item was no adult accompanying her. Her defence would be that she was bullied but that doesn’t change the fact she assaulted her and she gets processed as a criminal.

They would take it more into consideration since they are children, I think... And just in case you're coming for me, that's an excuse that could be applied to Billy but that's not my point. Hopper still being alive at the end of season 3 wasn't a secret at all. As soon as the last episode of season 3 dropped they leaked it to the media that Hopper was indeed returning for season 4, in order to soften fan anger at losing such a beloved character. Anyone following the production knew he was still in the show, and knew it immediately. They weren't even really trying to hide it, hence the final scene about "the American" in the Russian prison.

A part of her was probably relieved that he was gone, but imagine the guilt you’d feel to be relieved about smth like that on top of the crippling survivor’s guilt. Ofc she cared for Billy, but he never met her needs as a proper loving big brother, so she must’ve struggled with a lot of shame, feeling like she’s a bad person for having these feelings. Max’s character writing is much more complex S4, I truly empathize with her. Can’t wait for you to watch ep 4 it’s an emotional rollercoaster/ masterpiece!

Unfortunately, when it comes to bullying, there are lots of different contexts that lead to response. And I get it, it is difficult. For one reason or another, bullying behaviour below a certain threshold (i.e. obvious physical injury, e.g. drawing blood) tends to get tolerated and turned a blind eye on by police (and other authorities) when it happens between kids / peers within a school environment, when the same behaviour would likely draw a different response were it to happen outside in public.
