The FIRST motorcycle Backflip that you didn’t know about!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I decided to make a movie who shows who really did the first backflip on a motorcycle / dirt bike. It seems that so many thinks that its Carey Hart that did it first but they are all wrong. He might be the first person to do a backflip in competition and on a big 250cc bike (Honda CR250) but he was not the first!
Jose Yanez was the first man and he did it back in 1991 on an 80cc dirt bike!
Bob Kohl was the second man to backflip a motorcycle in 1993 (also on a 80cc dirt bike)
Carey was the first man to backflip a large dirt bike but the landing was not perfect, as he crashed.
Caleb Wyatt landed a perfect backflip a Honda Cr250 back in 2002.
Too bad Jose Yanez and Bob Kohl didn’t get any recognition for what they did back then!
To do a backflip back in the early 90s is extremely impressive!
At least now you know who did the first backflip!

Really that's great information thanks! I knew about this B,M,X rider being the 1st although Cary Jason phillip Hart is in my mind who was the 1st being he hucked it on a 250 2 stroke when we didn't know it was possible until foam pits. What's super ironic was I accidentally invented the Kiss of Death Back flip on 1/20/01 which my best option was to throw the bike had I not have thrown the bike! I wouldn't be texting this information.

Hart was the first person to do a flip in live competition. They made that very clear when he did it. However, seeing that dude flip in 91' - pretty cool to see.

Yeah i agree on that. And even when he crashed, he still made a flip. He landed on the wheels and the seat but slid out afterwards. Thats a flip in my mind. He is the first one to flip a large 250cc bike. And Jose Yanez`s flip in 1991 is just sick. Wish more people knew about him.

Thats awesome! Its nice to suprise people, and thats what i was thinking going to happend if i made a video like this. In the same way its sad so few knew about those hardcore riders from early 90s that did backflips. This should be something most people knew about in the moto community but thats not the case. I must admit that Yanez was fairly new to me too, and Bob Kohl was totally new. Atleast this video might teach people what awesome things happened back in the old school days!

I remember a magazine article talking about all these guys back in 2003 when Metz and Travis brought flipping into the mainstream. To me it was Caleb Wyatt, he rode away clean on a big bike and there were witnesses. Carey Hart showed everyone it was possible to flip a big bike. The guys who did it on 80cc bikes don't count to me, gotta do it on a big bike.

There was another dude in the 90,s that did a backflip when I was in highschool here in Canada also can't remember the name but I remember my bro and I were freaking out. It's before internet so their were probably a lot of people that did them from the 90 and before and didn't get alot of publicity

I thought there was no way I would learn anything new from this video, but I had no idea Bob Khol sent a flip, and im a BMX rider for life. Another mention should go out to Steve Madrano and Adam Ownsly on the 1999 video Children of a metal god. The full video is on youtube and even though they were both into water, Adam Ownslys flip is still one of the wildest things I have seen on a dirtbike. Its around the thirteen minute mark

Another man we need to mention when we are searching for the first backflippers, is Reckless Rex (Rex Phelps). He did extremely big backflips and landed in water, back in 1976 (and i mean REALLY big jumps!). Too bad i was introduced to this guy when my video already was uploaded to KZread, or else i would add him in. Possibly the first man ever to experiment with motorcycles and backflips? Before i started this "backflip project" i always thought that Carey Hart did the first ever backflip in 2000 but after this re-search i have now learned that people flipped motorcycles way back in time and Carey was not the first. Crazy! Its time to let those unknown heroes shine!! Anyone agree?
