My first try of them I managed to dump 20 cards from my deck during the end phase, triple JD, Michael, and a lumina. And I hit triple Minerva on the lumina so there went those cards, then I just happened to have 2 cards in my deck. My opponent played double dark world dealings and passed

I've been plotting,scheming, and praying for the day you covered my first "meta" deck as a kid. These boys got me to fall in with milling decks to this day, and the new support made me cry tears of victory as I hoped for the 4th waves

Just got to the Jain part of the vid and heard your comment on running a Yu-Gi-Oh inspired tabletop session, and wanted to share that I actually am running a Dungeons and Dragons game where I'm incorporating Yu-Gi-Oh monsters, the items from archetypes, and even some of the in-card lore within this homebrewed world, with custom races inspired by YGO races we see on the cards and a wealth of homebrewed material!

8:10 This is why the GX manga and wiki wormholes should be assigned reading in high schools so other yugioh players can learn that fairy is the angel type. Then they'll know that Ghostrick Fairy/Angel is purposefully trolling them. 14:48 Funny that you recognize Raiden meaning thunder type yet were unaware of Ryu meaning dragon type.

I keep the thought that lightsworns are the beta versions of tearlaments. They’re just much more fair in every department, which means I like them a whole lot more

I Loved them when I started YuGiOh ( arround 2011 ). Nowdays I love them even more as engine Support for stuff like Shaddols or Tearelement. Tbf I simply love Milldecks, Fusion engines/decks and Dragunity ( yes they are a stand alone )

In Cardfight Vanguard these would be Keter Sanctuary cards

My main deck on master dual right now, playing it pure but gonna add tearlaments eventually.

Loved tgis deck when it came out. Still use it in Edison. And now, i can use it in current format too!

This is the deck my brother used to hook me into the game. I was thrilled to see new support, since the deck had fallen out of favor before I even started playing. Still, angels, dragons, holy revenants, hard to go wrong theme-wise, and it was good for me to learn to play the game using the deck and lp as a resource from the start. Really helped me get past some classic mental blocks in tcgs.

Lightsworn in one of my favorite decks and a tech pick I like using is Avramax using Trisbana and a spent Exalted

You can also play 3 Galaxy Soldiers in Lightsworn. They fill up your grave and set you up to summon Cyber Dragon Nova and upgrade to Infinity.

Not only is it my favorite deck in Yugioh but I also got my wife to play the deck last year for valentines day. So it's nice little video one year later .

Minerva really had her glow-up process documented hah. While the other Lightsworn monster was busy getting edgy with the Dark counter-part, my girl went from a small child to a hot XYZ teen to an even-hotter MILF Synchro. Cant wait to see the glowup of some other lightsworn monster too.

My favorites are my ace cards, Judgment Dragon & Punishment Dragon; and by extension Enlightenment Dragon now. Violet and yellow are my favorite colors so ED really looks spectacular to my eyes. Also, I am mixing my Lightsworns with the Bystial Dragons instead of Tearlaments as I aim for the Lv 10 Synchros for negates when going first turn. And duhh, DRAGONS. 😂😅 I've been playing mainly Lightsworns since 2009.

Lightsworn Tearlaments Shaddoll was my Tear build of choice when that format got started. Raiden was extra Merrlis to get my mills going, Raiden and Felis gave me Chaos Ruler access, Xyz Minerva was a great way to keep digging, and Wulf made great material to send off Shaddoll Fusion with Beast to make Construct. Shame Tear was way too powerful for its own good 😭

One of favorite archetype, imho. I'm glad that we get some new support on the Lightsworn. Not to mention, I nearly had written a few things involving my own YuGiOh fanfic, but sadly, that was in the past in my younger years. Fun memories, though and even why I hold Lightsworn as one of my favories.

That combos is also for Master Duel, as Curious is legal in Master Duel too.

Now we need Enlightsworn who shuffle back from banishment to complete the circle

Lightsworn are in my Top 3 archetypes of all time alongside Gishki and Endymion.

also, since celestia say "those targets" it means that if one leave the field before the resolve, the other is safe.

After a decade of not playing the game, I came back in late 2013 and built a twilight deck during the time where Dragon Rulers and Spellbooks ruled the format. It was a mid deck that surprisingly got me almost as many wins as losses but boy, oh boy was it fun to play. JD, DAD, Gorz, BLS, imagine being able to pull out one of these boss monsters once every turn (And that's not even getting into the extra deck!).

A weird thing is that Athena is already its own card..like most Minerva including the Athena one, it is a light Fairy. It also focuses on graveyard control like a lot of fairies but in a different way and..thats where the similarities seem to stop. It's a level 7 tribute with 200 less atk than the lightsworn synchro and 1000 whole less Def. They visually look very different and Athena is just generic fairy deck fodder, not really belonging to any specific named archtype. Fairys had a lot of Greco-Roman mythology theming at the time, that she seems to fall under. They also had focuses on graveyard control, lifepoint protection and countertraps. Athena falls into the GY control by allowing yoy to discard a light fairy to the GY to special summon another one from the GY. It was the light fairy counterpart to a few different zombies at the time but a little beefer with the atk and level. Honestly, not the best card, even at the time. You'd think perhaps the Mivera card is supposed to be a retrain or lore reference considering how much lightsworn and other cards from the era of their inception loved that..buy I can't see any. Perhaps you could argue the name is because Athena is such a big mythological figure that Mivera IS wearing it as a title in a situation where she may have very well met up woth some genuine Athena? They do travel to alternate realities to recruit their members so considering there is at least one other Athena in the duelist multiverse, Minerva could have taken inspiration? The alternatea thing does also seem to be a possible theme..not only are there different Minerva "evolutions" depending if you go synrcho or XYZ but there seem to be others..obviously Judgment and Punishment dragon representing justice through artifical consequence VS more vengeful action..you also have Wulf and felis being counterparts but also Ryko and Riryan seeming opposite counterparts to each other in a very similar pattern..and thus potentially also related? Wulf and Felis seem to be more humanoid versions of Ryko and Riryan respectfully? I used to belive the idea was that these were adult versions but now, especially thanks to another babified version ironically, I feel this may hint at something else. We have the younger judgment dragon as a lightworn but not a younger punishment dragon..and the fusion is just that, splitting back to TWO when destroyed. I feel Punishment and Judgment Dragon are the same dragon from different realities. I also feel Ryko and Riryan are alternate reality versions of Wulf and Felis with the varying extra deck Minerva following suite. This could even explain why you would have a lightsworn and twilightworn of the same character together. They hop through different dimentions and alternate timeline crossings are not soemthing new to yugioh. Not only have we seen alternate path versions of quite a few iconic monsters in the past but some like the evolved warrior de grepher have met each other in shocked passing. It wouldnt be too much to assume that there are different Minerva depending if they went down a synchro or XYZ path. We also have another young female fairy related to divine judgment/punishment as well as light and dark alternative forms..i would not be shocked if they try to pull the tips of these lines and lace all the different lore storylines togther eventually. Judgnet is god's escaped pet dragon and thats why the banished maiden is able to get vengence with the darklords! And..archfiends/archlords are in there somewhere..darklords invited them all over for the weekend maybe..mazera devil is in zombie world now so who knows or CARES anymore! Its all connected and WHO CARESSSSSS!!!

Could you explain Lightray? I heard they were often associated with Lightsworn so I'd like to know them in detail. They're also remakes of other monsters. I also wonder what is the lore behind that if there is any.

Lightsworn will always be a special deck for me, because it was the deck that got me introduced into the game. It's a very luck based deck, but that also makes it quite skillbased. Mill Wulf and Felis early on and it might be Game on the spot. Draw them and only mill charge and other cards that don't help in the Grave and you can just scoop. But on the other hand, every game looks a bit different depnding on the mills. If you think I'm biased, yes I am.

Is there a translation error with Lightsworn Athena? It doesn't specify "other" card effects, so wouldn't it's first effect prevent itself from using it's third effect?

Not at all, the 1) effect protects the cards on the field while the 3) effect banishes from the GY.

I hated when I first used Lightsworn but now it’s one of the main decks I use in Duel Links along with an Aroma deck and a Gem Knight deck. It’s not a good deck and I don’t win all the time like when I use the other decks but it’s fun when I win with them

I hear mention of card game tabletop session well guess what that exists and it's called Perfect Draw

I was always fascinated by light-attribute monsters so Lightsworns were right up my alley. I was afraid that they would get a low N.O.V.A. scale because in my experience players seem to look at light monsters and mono-attribute decks overall with disdain. So I'm happy to see them spoken of in such a positive manner. Also, Lumina's pretty cute.

Next add the Yubel support to your video lineup from LEDE

I never got to use this archetype mostly due to not being able to get a lot of these cards, only getting like 5 of the main deck monsters, and few of the supports. Edit: by the way, Nova, in your opinion which extra deck type do you think is the more versatile, diverse in gameplay & functionally more beneficial: Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum, or Link?

Hold up, are archfiends another form of Dark World, but not in name or something? Is this something I never knew or am I missing something here?

Archfiend is the TCG version of Daemon. It's a far more generic term (while still being an archetype) thus Wiess matches the other Lightsworn titles.

32:09 -It wasn't a failed military strategy but a poem recognizing a military company that had suffered a failure. This is key because the point of the poem seems to be the point of the cards name being the same. Lord Tennyson wrote the poem (under pseudonym) as national propaganda. He was commending the troops' bravery and valor, even in the face of certain defeat. Notice the effect..you send three cards straight from the deck to the grave for one low-level monster. This is greta in a yugioh lightsworn deck, but in a more militant sense, it is a noble sacrifice for a fairly low payoff. The implied alternative is a confirmed loss of the overall bigger war, however. Also, notice that it is Ryko who is charging forth. This is a great card but one that typically gets sacrificed itself since it must be set for its effect and is very weak in battle Stats. Also, it's effect sends three cards to thw grave in addition to destroying a monster..sound familair? You send three to add a Ryko, only to sacrifice that Ryko AND send ANOTHER three to take out one opponents monster..kind of a noble massacre rather than a sacrifice but still one to commend. Also..Ryko doesn't have the best time through a lot of his journeys..despite being a very loyal and good boy, the poor pup really gets put through the wringer..very fitting for the face of a card refeencing a poem about steadfast soldiers marching into death for their country.

His point was that it makes no sense to name a card like this after a failed military strategy, which I agree. But it wasn't. It's named after a very famous poem that succeeded in seeing the positive if the situation to the intended demographic and holds narrative significance to the card characters themselves. I explained it pretty well..let me guess, you didn't read but felt the impulse to just leave a sparky comment to feel superior. Well, I'm not going to celebrate your actions, but I will recognize you are a truely brave failure to think it would result in anything but you being seen through. Keep stubbornly trodden ahead! Until the comment trolling reports get your account removed. 😁

Man I hated this archetype in the YGPRO online days...

Whats especially weird about "light of destruction" is that it is a pretty bad trap card for the archtype..the name of the pack the archtype debuted in..and a completly unrelated arch antagonist character from GX. It felt ao weird to me because the lore point of the archtype was to save through the light. The trap was aweful for th archtype..made little sense in a narrative sense and made things unsessarily confusing because of the character that came well before both the pack and card of the same name but no relation. There was no reason to use this once let alone twice for lightsworns like this.

It's called Anti support. It's not supposed to be helpful and with a name like that it's obvious why. Also the character and the card/pack are written differently in the source material. (same meaning but different words)
